    My wife has pretty much cured her Crohn's naturally, so much so that she has come off all her medication that included humira. After 2 year of flare up and the maximum doses of all medication that wasn't working, she started taking 14% Sativa CBD paste, twice a day, within 3 weeks the flare up was gone! We've come to learn 'juicing' (extracting the fibre) with the right vegetables also helps, also an anti-inflammatory diet like KETO also has huge benefits. She is now off all her meds and hasn't shown any Crohn's symptoms for over 2 years. CBD and diet is the key.

      Juicing is very exciting but I need to get something straight. You take the fiber out because it's hard for Crohn's system to break it down and what you're left with is nutrients and I suppose some of the good bacteria that was on the vegetables.
      Did I get that straight?

    More recent research suggests that it's not the gluten in wheat/grains that's causing all the gut issues these days, instead, it's the glyphosate that's wrecking our microbiomes. I've also heard stories that when people go to countries like Italy that have banned glyphosate and they eat bread & other grains there, they digestion stays just fine, but if they come back to the US & eat grains, all their digestive issues start back up.

    Bad things for me- Sugar, processed food, cheese, dairy ( except yoghurt, butter), wheat, egg yolk, fatty foods and soy.Ironically am okay with sprouted grains. Many people with Crohns have diarrhea or constriction. I actually have continuous abdominal pain and severe fatigue. Also these food sometime cause severe constipation for me.
    Good food -lentil, legumes, cooked vegetables, egg white, beans, tomato in small quantity.

      In terms of the carbohydrate content, they are ok.

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  4 года назад

      Thank you! I'm glad your husband is feeling better. In my case, it took about one year of healing, and then all of a sudden I returned to my normal weight. Of course it's different for everyone. I think it may be because I was not eating as many carbs (though I was still eating them, not doing keto or anything) while healing, and then after one year slowly started to increase them. When I started to introduce more carbs, the weight came back. But I think if I had increased the carbs earlier, before my body had had the time to heal, it may have been an issue for digestion. So I guess my experience was that it was a time of healing first, and after some time, regaining weight. Eating a low carb diet it is often hard to gain weight, so perhaps introducing more easily digestible carbs (like those that are SCD legal is a pretty safe guideline I think) would help with weight gain, as long as it does not impede digestive healing. I don't know if he is even eating low carb but if so, this could be a factor. I hope this is helpful to you.
      This is my personal experience and opinion, not medical advice.

      I know it doesn't work for everyone...it seems like 85-90% go into remission and I'm not sure why it isn't everyone.
      Out of curiosity how long were you on the different diets for, and did you include a lot of probiotics? I am not trying to suggest you did anything wrong because there are so many different factors involved but I'm just asking in case there is helpful information for other people...
      I've heard there is good success with stool transplant which sounds gross, but there seems to be promising results. I didn't try it myself but for a tough case like yours, it might be worth looking into? Just something I've heard from people I'm not a medical practitioner obviously.

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  4 года назад

      I think for this it would depend on whether you are sensitive to citrus. My suggestion would be to try it, and see how you feel. Grapefruit can also interfere with some medications and supplements so of you are taking any, might be good to check. On the Breaking the Vicious Cycle website they recommend juicing your own grapefruit juice. Also for SCD, they recommend diluting all juice to 50% with water just to minimize the sugar.
      It's simple to squeeze some grapefruit juice though so my thought would be try it and see how you feel... just my personal opinion only, it's never medical advice :)

      I would recommend reading Breaking the Vicious Cycle if you are interested in SCD diet (or just the molecular reasoning behind which carbohydrates to eat) then you would have an easier time identifying good alternatives
      There are many almond flour recipes in that book, for example
      Sourdough is definitely more digestible but may still be too much for a damaged gut. Also I've heard a lot of people and experienced myself that the flour source is important and organic may be more digestible (due to lack of contamination with dessicant).

    • @HackYourHealth

      Almond and coconut flour are ok for many people even when grain flours aren't. Coconut flour is allowed on both the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and the Autoimmune Protocol diet, which are two diets commonly done for Crohn's and autoimmune. Almond flour is allowed on SCD only, because nuts can be irritating for some people as well. However, neither has the issue of having the high starch/sugar content of grains. So I think it's best to try them, and if they work for you then they are good to eat!

      I'd suggest trying almond flour.... there are lots of recipes for almond flour on the Specific Carbohydrate diet which is for people with Crohn's etc, so those have been well tolerated by people.
      I dont have much insight into coconut flour, but I think it is likely fine too.
      Chickpea flour I personally would be the most cautious with, but it probably has to do with how it is prepared too (if it's possible to ferment/otherwise make it more digestible first). I'd personally suggest starting with almond flour only because it seems to have been well tolerated by people who are healing, and depending on how healed you are etc the others could be good too.

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  4 года назад +1

      Thanks, I'm glad it's helpful :)
      I think there's a good chance that pseudo-grains have similar issues to grains themselves, but you could try and see how it effects you. The way they are prepared can also make a big difference.
      Sweet potatoes are used on AIP, so I think they are likely good. I'm not very familiar with chestnut. But yes, I think everything is probably better than sugar!
      I personally used a lot of beets, squash and other roasted vegetables. Spaghetti squash is a good replacement for pasta.
      My suggestion would be to search recipes for the SCD or AIP, because there are people doing all kinds of creative things without grains for those diets, and see what appeals to you.
      If you have other questions let me know!

    one more question. I always hear that dairy is the worst when it comes to joint symptoms and other allergies. so i'm very reluctant to try the homemade yogurt and kefir. any thoughts on this? Of course i would use organic milk as a starter, but i still wonder if i am hurting my bone health or increasing joint issues.

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  4 года назад +1

      I really think that there is a huge difference in this regard between fermented and unfermented dairy.
      In homemade yogurt and kefir (storebought is more risky) the lactose is broken down, and there are bacteria in the yogurt/kefir that help with digestion, and repopulate good gut bacteria. So the main allergen/irritant is gone, and healthy gut bacteria can help with inflammation etc.
      Organic/grass fed is definitely better, as well as full fat.
      I'm also still researching right now for an upcoming video on probiotics, but I think one of the reasons fermented milk might be so helpful is because it is more similar to how our gut bacteria is nourished and populated as infants.
      I think it is absolutely worth trying, and maybe starting with a small amount and working your way up :)

      @@HackYourHealth good points! since i left my original comment, i looked into this a bit more. I'll share 2 things of note here. first, there is a spontanious mutation that occured in cows about 2000 years ago that made what is called Casien A1, a protein in that cow's meat and milk, (as I understand it) which attacks a human's pancreas leading to inability to produce insulin (juvenile diabetis) as explained by dr. gundry on the tom bilyeu youtube chanel.
      But if you can eat dairy from the original casien A2 cows, it is safe, and does not attack pancreas cells. the good Casien A2 is in cheeses from france, italy, switzerland, and sheep, goats and water buffalo. That is becasue these animals do not have the 'muitation'.
      I understand 'american' cows are the bad ones.
      but that aside, the second point i wanted to share is this. Cows milk and meat is reported to contain proteins from the foods that those animals eat, so corn- or grain-fed cows will have that in their meat and probably milk too. so those trying to avoid grains are best to avoid milk from these cows to be safe. I wonder if grass fed cows are also fed supplemental grain, which concerns me personally as i am trying to avoid those 'grain' type proteins. (I do not eat cows primarily for this reason).
      I would assume if a goat ate grain, its meat and milk would also contain the same grain protein which is of concern to celiacs and others with leaky gut.
      not to blab too much lol, but one more thing. I heard that shalajit can restore leaky gut, as well as boost a weak immne system. If you ever do research on this, I'd love to see your video. I take a Russian form called momiji (may have spelled that wrong.) it's like decayed plant matter which is largely missing, but needed, in modern farm-produced foods. it looks like frozen black molassis and tastes like bitter coffee to me. it somehow provides a lot of missing biochemicals needed to repair the tight junctions.
      not to mention chickens. even those advertised as organic free reign are full of corn, and mostly cooped up in a barn with 5 minutes a day to go outdoors (according to dr. gundry interview i mentioned above). now i know why a friend of mine raises his own chickens.
      thanks for your awesome videos. peace, carol

      @HackYourHealth  4 года назад

      Hi Dan,
      I am assuming you mean paleo keto diet? I hadn't heard that abbreviation before :)
      I had the exact same thing happen to my tongue when I started the SCD, for at least a month if I remember correctly. My tongue went completely white, with yeast and I believe it was a bacteria die off, because it would come back about once a month with reduced strength for the first few months of the diet. Like you, I felt a lot better otherwise.
      I'm not a doctor so this is just my personal experience. It's not necessarily anything you are doing wrong. Pork fat is likely good to eat in my opinion. Especially pasture raised lard.
      I'm really happy to hear you have more energy and I'm hoping to eczema also gets better once the first stage of the diet has past.
      It might be helpful to ask around and see what others have also experienced at the beginning in the bacteria die off phase, because it's normal to have some stranger things in the beginning, at least in my experience!
      Good luck :)
