Seeing him practice the hot keys for the Two Bridges level over and over and then completely forget what he wanted to do on the actual run really pained me
My grandfather was part of the army corps of engineers, I asked him what he thought of “speed running” engineering, he said “sounds a lot like half assing the job.”😂😂
@@jedidoesstuffIt’s faster to take your time and get it right the first time than make a bunch of mistakes going fast that you then have try to fix even faster, especially since your unlikely to be able to fix them without making more mistakes with the additional time crunch.

tbh i think he could've made it if he didnt waste so much time on trying to go over on that one level, if he'd just gone under he probably would've been under 5 minutes
In some of the levels, you first truss from the top and then add the supports from below. In those cases you should just immediately truss from below and incorporate the supports while doing that.
I think I'm starting to get RCE's marketing strategy for these videos. 1) Claim to be a highly skilled engineer 2) Do engineering related games 3) Claim to be better than [insert youtube competitors here] 4) Display his profound lack of engineering and increasing fondness for architecture (even while "speedrunning") 5) Watch the viewers bring his engagement up as they point out any subset of the above or consequences relating to any of this strategy. Is it possible that RCE is in fact not an architect? Could he in fact be... a marketing and brand person?!
Maybe, but in other videos he is explaining quite much about things going on like drainage and stuff. Especially where there is road stuff going on. I think he is not working in his old work for quite some time, so he might changed a bit and forgot some stuff about engineering
You should do this again, but definitely utilize Steele more. It’s super strong and can reach way further. Also don’t focus on making everything symmetrical.
Is Matt struggling with the final 2 chapters, or why we get all this rehearsal content? 😂 Hey, if he remembers the shortcuts from now on, this video was already very helpful.
1:43 I'm just faster with hotkeys and have a higher mouse sens. Also where you use like only one piece of steel i do use 3 to 4 more by using the auto attach, it saves some seconds
1) When you screw up, 'Z' to undo then quickly continue. 2) You don't always have to undo, e.g. a missing truss can just have another quickly added without undoing.
Big fan. Keep it up RCE! If you see this I’ll be surprised but here goes nothing. I have a Challenge for you, try to beat an Easy to medium challenge map without seeing the car roll across or what broke on the bridge because it’s turned off. Seems fun and hard. Good luck.

The steel support shouldn't need to connect all the way to the bridge, go a bit lower then it'll connect with three other segments. that should shave some milliseconds
I feel like he over thought it to be honest! I'm not good at Poly Bridge but I did this in about 2 mins. Your bridge doesn't need to look good, it just needs to hold. So you just put down a straight road and spam supports as quickly as possible.
isn't speed running basically just muscle memory? You do a thing 100x you'll learn ways to make it faster. To improve i would suggest not worrying about time in particular just grind the 1st set of maps for month on daily and you get better. Establish your flow and progression per level and just repeat.
You first need to have the perseverance to build up the muscle memory. Have creativity to come up with ways to be faster. It often requires a crazy amount of mental focus. Imagine you do an hour speedrun and realize that you have a good time at 45 minutes. This pressure is so enormous that people then tend to mess up. Day fifty eight of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet.
