As far as I am aware, Volvo hasn’t sold coach buses in the U.S. for longer then about a decade (10 years) however, the particular bus you were on (based on the video clips of the bus) has been (and probably will continue to be) beat on. I’ve noticed if a vehicle look neglected it’s maintenance has been generally neglected.
Many states require speed limiters based on Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (“GVWR”) and this bus might have been speed limited to 70 mph (based on the screen shot in video). If you travel by bus in the future ask the driver during a scheduled stop, if the bus is equipped with a speed limiter (if yes, what is top-speed?) the driver typically knows if a speed limiter is equipped.
(P.S.: 18-wheelers in many states are also speed limited and probably not the same top speed as coach buses.)
I'd like to see a service like this between Baton Rouge -New Orleans.
Definitely not bad for $30, but that Volvo 9700 has seen better days lol.
This has all the energy of a "How It's Made" video. I love it!
I live in Britain RedCoach don’t even run here but I’m still watching
This should be called “premium economy” which tells us the benefits are all about the seat not the service itself.
I took a bus from Austin to Houston after my AUS-IAH flight cancelled due to thunderstorms last month, but it was Flixbus instead. Wasn't too bad at all, and I did like the direct service.
Thanks for that balanced and fair review. Nice to know that there's an "in between" service bracketed by Greyhound, Megabus, and Vonlane. One question: If the person in the seat in front of you goes into full recline how much does that cut back on your space?
Great video, as usual, and the bus does look OK for the price - although it's a pity that you don't have a normal affordable rail system in the US.
The main thing that looked problematic to me was the recline. I do understand the appeal but I hate this as it might be comfortable to the one that want's to take a nap but horrible to the one behind him. Maybe you should check, when possible, how the recline affects the seats behind (no one does this check but I think it's important) but in the video it looks like a nightmare to seat behind someone fully reclined on this bus.
YES, THE G.O.A.T. IS BACK!!!!!!!
Yessir! It's been a bit but we're back on schedule!
Nice video 😊
Thanks!
The Texas Central railroad can't come quickly enough. Although I expect tickets on that wall cost more than $30 but should be a much smoother ride and a little quicker. If this is your idea of business class, then I'm guessing business isn't going so well.
The way things are going don't count on Texas Central.
Great trip.
Wow nice bus interior
Not bad at all for 30 bucks
Agreed. Really reasonable for $30. And way more comfortable than Greyhound.
Nice videos
They need to expand to NYC. With destinations being DC, Philly, CT, RI, and Boston for example
I worked for Red Coach out of Orlando, starting in January, 2020 until Mr, Trump deemed me to be non-essential on Friday, March 13.
Typically they would send me to Tampa, Tallahassee or (usually) Atlanta. I never got sent to Miami because there was a language barrier.
In Atlanta, I would pick up my bus at my hotel in the morning. The overnight driver, who brought it up from Orlando, would tell me everything that was wrong with the bus. The dashboard would be lit up like a Christmas tree. I would put my hands together, look up, and say, "Please, God, let this bus get me and my passengers back to Orlando. I promise I'll be good!"
I never did have a breakdown, fortunately. Although, one time, the bus I was scheduled to drive out of Atlanta never made it to me because it had broken down on the northbound run. My trip was canceled and I rode back to Orlando that night as a passenger on one of the "first class" buses. That was the nicest ride I've EVER had on a bus with that (nearly) lay-flat seat.
The fact that I was on the clock was a bonus.
It could be that they don't have a garage in Austin, which would explain the need to refuel.
True, but they could have at least gone and gotten fuel before hand.
I worked for Red Coach out of Orlando for a short time in 2020. They would refuel a bus in Orlando, send it up to Tallahassee or Atlanta and it wouldn't get refueled until it made it back down to Orlando.
As for Texas, since the bus is going to make a rest / meal stop anyway, might as well do it at a truck stop.
Redcoach reminds a awful lot of National Express in the UK...only with better seats.
Awesome video! If you can, you should try OMEX VIP, a mexican bus line that does trips from Mexico to the south of USA, you can travel with them within Texas in routes like Laredo/San Antonio/McAllen to Houston or San Antonio/Austin/Midland/Presidio to Dallas. Judging from this video, OMEX VIP offers a superior product compared to Redcoach.
Can you get from Austin to College Station by direct bus?
I'm not sure how I feel about "Business Ass Seats" 1:18
With such low fares and just starting out, I suppose they are not having enough funds to maintain the buses
in USA our "luxury" buses are a disgrace...
Imma stick with Volane
Yeah I don't blame you.
Luxury? Yeah right. More like not as ghetto as Greyhound.
Once this Bus company is better known and grows, just watch it will turn into another disgusting grey hound
A guess QuikTrip can be considered a "premium buy-on-board, er, en-route" experience, if you squint.
