- This is in my opinion one of the best scenes from the movie " LEON ".
It is a brilliant movie and I highly recommend it to anyone who can pay attention to a movie and give it justic to what it really is.
This movie is a work of art !!. 10/10
Fun fact from IMDB about this scene:
During the filming involving all of the police cars on the street, a man ran from a store he had just robbed. When he encountered the movie set by accident, he saw all of the "police" and gave himself up to a bunch of uniformed extras.
I'd love to see the source
@@UltimateEntity its from IMDB. I think you can see who contributed to it on the page. Dont know about an eye witness. Maybe you should buy a time machine
I liked how the guy was running the plastic crime scene tape. All those PD cars just doesn't say crime scene loud enough.
Fun fact, your a nerd 🙄
Fun Fact too: accordingly, Gary Oldman improvised many of his lines. When he shouted on Benny "Give me everyone" he was not supposed to shout like that. He revealed that improvisation based on his Playboy magazine interview
If I'm Leon's landlord and he's late with his rent...well that's fine by me.

I swear Gary Oldman is a timeless actor who can literally play ANY role he's tasked to do...he could give you nightmares in one movie while being a beacon of hope in another. I remember seeing Leon way back when it came out and was genuinely terrified of Gary Oldman.
In Batman movies he was so gentle, almost too soft to be police. Awesome actor.

Apart from that, awesome movie!
The knock on the door was 3,2,1 meaning a bomb is gona go off.
I think it's basic security measure for any competent outlaw group: to design several knocking signals in advance, one for signaling "open the door," one for "we're fucked, prepare yourselves to fight or escape" and such.

Such an iconic, legendary and intense scene with Gary Oldman & Jean being amazing, like they really nailed there roles. You can tell just by Leon's voice, facial expressions, and the way he acts that he just wants a peaceful life, and that Mathilda finally gets her revenge so she can live in peace & not be in the same path that Leon was facing in life. Like just how it develops over time, where it slowly builds up with his getaway, then in the end its just sadness. A scene that really makes you jump out of your seat or be on edge, hoping that Leon would get away and take them all out, which sadly in the end really shows how emotionally intense this film is. A film filled with raw emotions and feelings with a film that is truly memorable, unforgettable, legendary, and filled with emotions that you honestly can't help but feel alongside the characters & the emotional story behind it. A film & song where its just pure black and white, a film & song that has such strong emotions & feelings from/to your heart. Its a film where you just feel pure raw emotion as if you're the character or if you're seeing it first hand in person. A film with such a perfect selection of a cast with such underrated actors such as Jean Reno, Natalie Portman debuting in her first ever film which launched her acting career, Gary Oldman, and so many others. A film with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Its a film that's meant to be experienced through emotion, not through explanation just like Leon whenever you would see his character's facial expressions of what he would feel, like the amount of strong emotion behind it, is incredible, especially towards the end of the movie where you'd expect it to end off in a happy ending but it ends sadly. It can't be described fully in words, just through your own heart & emotion, especially with how perfect the film was, like there's no flaws with it. It's a film filled with strong emotional, action-packed storyline and soundtracks that honestly make you feel sad for Leon and Mathilda as if you're a part of them. Jean Reno truly nailed the performance like hes so underrated, and it really shows the amount of talent Natalie had which started her career in one of the greatest films of all time like all the roles were nailed perfectly. Its just a masterpiece. Not only that but this movie didn't have much of a budget either, and it turned out to be so successful and one of the greatest films of all time, which you can't deny, its something that everyone agrees on, like it or not, it is. Luc Besson the director literally nailed it & also proved how even at the time you didn't need that need such a huge budget to accomplish these things, and what an era it was, and what a big name for European Films if not the greatest European film, in comparison with American films that need such a big budget to accomplish the effects, it really shows the difference between the two as all thats needed is raw emotion. Such a masterpiece, a film like I said filled with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Truly unforgettable, memorable and much more. I honestly wish it got more credit that it was unfortuantely given, it honestly deserved so much credit, especially an award for Jean Leno and his performance. Such a perfect selection, such a perfect story, film, and of course music selection. One of the few films where you experience raw emotion, and feelings.
3:25 great acting by those two....its hard to convey that you're scared shitless behind a skimask but these two nailed it.
Great analysis bro! I have to rewatch after your comment, true acting with limited facial expression

@Tracchofyre not mentioning that disarming someone pointing a gun to your head with a straight arm it's one of the easiest things to do ruclips.net/video/cmQk3DnTcSs/видео.html
WantOxide it's a movie - enjoy it for what it is. Having 12" of gap between a gun and your body is a lot different from having a motivated man with a firearm stuck against your forehead. Also Swat team guy has his hands down at his sides peeking around a corner wall. Great movie ain't it?
Swat was also different back then. Active shooters are immediately engaged now. No setting up a perimeter first like back then.
SWAT would just not come in. Why bother? They can keep stand-off for weeks chsnging shifts. The lone shooter would stand a day, on drugs maybe two ir three, but eventualky he wouls have either flee out or fall asleep
@Tracchofyre You missed one point , trained assassins are also ex special forces . Police have orders to never back them into a corner , because these guys will kill as many as they can if there is nothing left . Good luck explaining that to your superiors after the press get hold of the story .

It is just so natural!
One word is enough for Gary Oldman to be iconic.
I read that it was not in the script and Garry improvised it as a joke. The director thought it was funny and put it in the film. It became a sensational scene as well as iconic meme.
@@kaiser98berlin Almost true. The director actually repeatedly asked Garry for an over-the-top take "just for fun" which Garry refused. Garry acted this scene over and over with the composed manner the script asked for. On one of the very last takes Garry decides to indulge Luc Besson believing it'd never be used in the final cut. The director loved it and had actually planned to use any "over-the-top" take from the start. And that's how you make history.
Sargent: “Go take a look.”
Me: “F*** that, you take a look.”
Lmao, underrated comment.

The heist was in 28 February 1997..so swat team in Leon is actually how they where looking back then!
@@kwolfdan3976 not for weaponry
More like a low budget imitation of the SAS of the '80s...don't forget the movie is a European production, the director is Lùc Bessón and the fact most of it was shot in NY doesn't mean much.
There were probably more IRA in New York in the `70s & '80s than there were in Ireland. The USA used to like terrorists back then.
I love that Matilda gives the cops a fake code knock so when they use it, Leon knows it's no her but the "bad guys" 👍🏻💯

For those who say its unrealistic:
this wasn't an official mission, Stansfield (the bad guy) just wanted to take Leon out with his strike team, they didn't expect much/any resistance since they ment to kill him by surprise, plus they weren't too many so I guess they didn't want any1 know about this mission...that's why Stansfield is so angry when he gotta call reinforcements...my opinion
Agreed, he basically took his private dudes who were as corrupt as him to try and brush it under the carpet.

With such a perfect cast of the Underrated Jean Reno, Natalie Portman, Gary Oldman, and so many others, it literally created a film that was perfect with such a strong emotional, action-packed storyline and what a soundtrack. Honestly, one of the very few films, that you can truly say has no flaws, and one that everyone can agree is perfect. Jean Reno truly nailed the performance, and it's amazing to see how underrated he is, and Natalie had such great talent, also nailing the role, and the film is literally indescribable, just a masterpiece. And the Gary played Churchill...shows his talent as an actor. Love the man.
Every time it gets to 2:30, no matter how many times I've seen it before and how much I know it's coming, I always get goosebumps
Quick note to all - the ones that Leon slaughtered weren't S.W.A.T. They were a crew assembled by Stansfield, who wanted to keep Leon & Mathilda's death "off the books". Hence their unprofessionalism. It's only when they're massacred that Stansfield calls in "everyone!" after what was to be a quick, clean hit, turned into a complete clusterfuck. S.W.A.T. arrives later.
It clearly shows how their rifles are to unwieldy for the situation.
You have just blown my mind
They only knew what Stansfield told them, cannot blame them for not being ready for Leon.
They were put in an impossible position by being ordered to force their way in.
Any professional SWAT lead would have advised to stake out the apartment and arrest Leon upon exiting to minimize carnage, but Stansfield most likely overruled them and ordered them in, there's simply no way for them to tell if Matilda is setting them up or not, or to tell whether Leon has seen them through the peep hole.
The fact that Leon chose an apartment at the end of the hallway shows he's ready for a raid...
This is one of my favorite gun scenes ever! Leon is able to take down all these guys because of his clever strategies. :D
cause they are acting like morons all the time. just storm inside the interior, they are not thinking at all, there is no clever tactics from their side, so Leon can easily take them out.
They don’t make em like they used to. Ahhhhh good old 80’s and early 90’s.
