I really started trading day trading, always had portfolios either from work or parents, but learning fundamentals was easy I knew some, but technical analysis was very hard for me, until I learned price action and how important volume is, break and changes, higher lows lower lows why they happen what does it mean, then I took a class on statistics and probability, and risk management and my trading became a job I love to learn and do. I used a sim for a few hours and stopped, started using real money but only buying a share or two, did that for a year. Now I’m up to a few hundred and doing much better but I always watch videos to learn more never stop learning period

Now, all is not lost, as I have been learning the software, system setup, etc. This takes time. Thanks for the encouragement Ross!
You speak wisely about trading in a SIM to begin with. BUT, you have got to talk about slippage, Ross. It makes a massive difference as you know. Unless people know to be really careful of the spreads, any edge they thought they had in a SIM will vanish. Speaking from experience, I traded for 8 weeks SIM on Webull. I tripled the account. Then I started trading live and blew up my account 3 times before I was able to steady the ship, mostly because of slippage.
It took me years to get better than just buying the S&P ETF. My main learnings to get profitable were follow the rules, don't trade out of boredom even if its a quiet month and do way less trades than you want to.
This was me Ross. I started getting interested and made a few trades in July of 2001. After 911 I turned $500 into $35,000 thinking that was exhaustion and the bottom. As you know in Feb 2002 the dead cat bounce was over and I lost it all. Success made me arrogant when really it was just a hot market.
