      The farm shed will trigger an alert if placed too far from a field, I notice you can just build another, reassign villager and they seem to automatically work on the nearest field that need work done

    Your villagers don't need tools put in the buildings they work in. They will grab them outta the resource storage building. That's why everything your smithy makes goes right in the resource storage shed instead of the smithy box. Don't spend all that time running tools around to every building.
    Also the most semesters have the pouch and backpacks so you don't really need to explore the map for bandit camps.
    Also Also you don't need to build close to a preexisting town... in fact I'd say that its better to not build so closely (if you're looking for that immersion effect) real towns are built feet from each other....

    Simple large backpack and large pouch can be bought from Matylda in Danica. You can do this right at the start by making stone knives on the way there to raise the money. It’s basically essential from the start of the game to avoid frustration

    I honestly don’t recommend crossbows. I used to think they were the better choice but I’ve found you can typically only get one bolt off before they’re in melee range.
    It’s way to slow to use. Bison and bear require at least 2 headshots to kill and god have mercy if you miss.
    Plus if you’re fighting multiple targets it’s even worse.
    Imo recurve bow with iron arrows is the best option. Carry three iron spears too for tossing into them right before they reach you. Plus it satisfies my primal side when you drop a charging bison in its tracks by throwing a 4 foot rod of death through their skull.

    • @PitstopHead
      @PitstopHead  Год назад +2

      I like the damage total of the iron bolts but I see your point!

    • @The_Lone_Outlaw
      @The_Lone_Outlaw Год назад +6

      @@PitstopHead That’s the reason I went for crossbows. Their damage is able to get a one shot kill on most everything except bison and bears but like I said it’s extremely slow and imo clunky and awkward af to use, just doesn’t “feel” right.
      I think one iron bolt from an iron crossbow is equal to I believe two iron arrows from a recurve regarding damage. But regarding speed I could get I’d say roughly 2.5-3 arrows off by the time I could get my second bolt loaded.
      I also noticed that I personally was a lot more accurate too and I don’t have any perks for bows yet. Granted thy could just be my case as I’m used to shooting bows more than crossbows but I feel like the crossbows are just inherently less accurate in this game.
      So if you’re not planning on dealing with large game like bears and bison, or groups of enemies like wolves and bandits then crossbows are amazing. But i recommend trying be as prepared as possible for any possible situation.
      If the arrows aren’t enough to drop the target that’s where you bring in the three iron spears. Three at minimum. 3 is 2, 2 is 1, 1 is none. I think each spear does the same damage as the crossbow so they hit HARD. Granted they weigh an extra six pounds and are not tools like an axe or knife but in my experience said tools get me hurt more than if I’dev just keep shooting them point blank. You get two advantages with spears, range and range. They’re the longest melee weapon so you can hit them from farther away meaning they’re less likely to hit you, as much. Then like stated you can toss these rods of death into the face of a charging enemy to completely deny their existence. Three seems a bit much but you’d be surprised at how frantically you toss them when shtf. Also if you’re smart you actually only have 2 to throw, the other is melee for defense.
      I’ve shot like 20 something arrows into and at a bear one time while he was running up, down, and around a mountain trying to bait me into following him where he’d turn around and charge the second I didn’t have a long sight line. At this point the bow was useless, too frantic and close quarters. So I drew my spears. Followed the blood trail, peaked a ridge and as expected he was waiting for me and started charging. He straight up dodged the first one by bobbing and weaving like an ai. Then I landed my second one right in his forehead from about 6 feet away and he just dropped right there. Like turning off a light switch. It was exilerating, disturbing, and beautiful all at the same time.
      If I had a crossbow idve been dead not even a minute into the encounter but because I kept peppering him with arrows(most missed) he couldn’t charge me without dying 1/3rd the way there.
      Also if the damage is somehow still not enough there’s always poisons. I’ve never tried it myself because I think poisoning an animal you’re gonna eat is kinda silly and humans don’t really require that extra damage to drop.

    For your last tip; I often spend multiple days of a season mining. Each day I mine and when I'm full I go to the entrance to the mine and drop the mined resources. On subsequent trips I pick up whatever I've previously dropped, then drop it all again, repeating this process through the day. Picking it up and dropping it again keeps everything in just a few piles For me, a single pile each of copper, rock, tin, and salt. At the end of each day I drop just enough to be barely under weight and go home. At the end of day three I now have 4 piles that total several hundred pounds. Just before midnight I pick everything up and at this point I can't move at all. But as you showed, at midnight you're teleported back home with several hundred pounds of ore, salt, and rock.

    Your woodshed, excavation place and such don't need to be physically near any of the recources in question. Whether you're in the middle if nowhere without any trees or in the middle of a forest, you get the same amount of logs at the end of the day. The only exception is the barn with fields. Farmers need to be close to the field, related to the barn.

    Question. What about horses? I just started playing this recently, I had played possibly 1-2 years ago but didn't play it too long. My biggest gripe is how long it takes to walk everywhere and the new travel system just too expensive. I did buy a backpack and pouch but I'm really been thinking of getting a horse. I noticed your not using one. Are they too difficult to use or maintain? Are they just not much faster? They do seem to carry a lot if you get pouch and all for them, so I'm thinking a horse could be super useful for quick trips to towns to buy some things or to mines to go mining. But I got a sneaky feeling that they may be not worth it based on no one using them from various videos i've seen. How do you feel about horses?

    • @PitstopHead
      @PitstopHead  2 года назад +1

      It just takes longer to get horses now. They are well worth it and fast. Carrying a lot doesn't matter too much as you increase your own capacity. Now I have a horse I use it all the time. This game takes longer but when you get stuff it is very rewarding
