It was my favourite player as a kid too. He was just sensational. He was a real beast playing and the fact that he was a goalkeeper untill he was 15 just inspired me so much. I really think he is amazingly underrated.

And he is all class. He takes joy in other people doing well. Look how happy he is at being faked out by the smaller man. What a fine human being. He has a well balanced attitude to life. Compete on the court when it matters but leave the competition on the court. Just a wonderful man. A person one would love to have as a friend.

Hakeem one of the greatest basketball players who appeared on that horizon. I watched him workout and play while with Ogun Rockets at Abeokuta. He was with another basketball legend of blessed memory( Yommy Billy) I am sure if post my picture he is sure to remember me. I was always taken his pictures while playing there at Abeokuta. I remember vividly one of his blocks,...while the ball was assending, supposed to touch the top of the triangle above the rim as off the glass, Hakeem from no where wiped out to the crowd. The excite was so much from the crowd, the referee stopped the game.( Ogun Rocks vs Adopt of Bangui
I've heard from other NBA players who know him that he always pays massive attention to his footwork. And this interview just confirms it, the way he was happy to share/teach crucial footwork info to the interviewer.
too dam skilled for ANYONE! no one could guard him in the post! and then on the other end has the most blocks....the most skilled center to ever play the game and its not even close! it hurts my heart to hear him say the post is dead! if i was a 7 footer i would continue his legacy! i would copy everything! joel embid is the closest thing but he will never be as great because of arrogance! hes more worried about trolling than actually playing the game! i get emotional watching this man! i got so much repect for hakeems game and hes such an incredible human!
You’re right. However I have to note that Embiid is as of this writing the MVP favorite for 2022 NBA season. He is currently on the longest sustained run of excellent basketball in his career. He has definitely incorporated a lot of Hakeem’s moves. In fact he talks about it often. All to say he has matured a lot in the last year or two. I think a lot of his maturity has come about from him watching his friend Giannis win a Chip.
Legend has it that ‘The Dream’ had two tickets to two different schools in the US, and after stepping back in from the cold at JFK airport, asked an airport employee which school had the warmest weather and the employee picked Houston. The rest is history.
keeping ur dribbling small and short, a lot of misdirection. i dont understand why parents force their kids to play aau or their sport all year long. play american football in the fall to bulk up, basketball in the winter to work on conditioning and agility and soccer/baseball to work on coordination.

Much respect from a Knicks fan. Sadly, nowadays, everyone (even centers and pfs) wants to shoot at three, instead of learning to really play basket-ball.
Hakeem, no matter how old he gets, he will lace them up and show you his moves whenever you ask. The game never leaves him. That's what makes him the greatest center.
This was extremely fun an relatable to watch. Still want to here why he left the US where the US is much more famous to England where I’ve bared seen a Basketball court before.
I would take him over any other center in NBA history. I have mad respect for Wilt, Kareem, Shaq and Russell but I would never take anyone over The Dream

Hakeem is like one of those old kung fu masters. His mastery of his craft is beautiful to witness.

His basketball game was okay too. Lol.
And very humble.
That's th Nigerian yoruba tradition in us , u got to humble your self at all time.
Duude i fricking love Hakeem. Best center ever! and such a nice guy. Great interview
Really cool interview, love his soccer moves turning into Basketball moves hint. Greatest two-way center EVER! Like Michael Jordan and Kobe said.
