    This is a great video. I want to teach students to make puppets at the special needs school I work at. Now I have a great starting point. 😊

      That sounds great! Let me know if you need any help. I am working on some guides to inclusive making for schools and would love to talk more

    NOt compulsory, but I think my puppets with plastic mouth boards are more expressive and actually more durable. Once the cardboard starts to break down you have to replace it. This is not easy and involves ripping the puppet apart. So if you are just learning , or making a practice puppet go for the cardboard. If you are making a puppet you want to use for a long time find some plastic. I love those 1 gallon ice tea bottles, or bottles from laundry detergent.

    You have a great potential to be one of the best youtuber out there, but you stopped. :) Nice to see your powerwall project and battery testing. Can you share something about your diy testing gear you made? You let us see a little bit only :)

      I build videos as I learn and need them- and I feel a new bit coming on- can you tell me more about your question?

    Some puppeteers stick foam on the mouth plate to make the glue surface large. What do you think? Also may I ask you: How can I follow a more free and flexible jaw movement?

      @SamPattersonEdD  5 лет назад

      For more flexible jaw, make the tape less tight.

    I think it's best to do it when its closed

    when you trace the pattern for the mouth, is it wen the mouth is open or closed?

  • @SamPattersonEdD
    @SamPattersonEdD  11 лет назад

    I trace the mouth when open, the goal is to have the head "rest" at about 1/3 open.

    Where can we get the tracing pattern for this puppet?

    How would you make a bird beak for a puppet with a round head?

    • @SamPattersonEdD
      @SamPattersonEdD  8 лет назад +1

      How long? I think foam would be the way to go, easy would be 3 triangles, two for the top one for the bottm

    So if you were to have made the head out of felt and not foam, what would happen? Just curious.

      +Malka Hachatula I would guess you would have a floppy head

    How do i control the mouth with a stuffed puppet?

    • @SamPattersonEdD
      @SamPattersonEdD  5 лет назад

      I do this same mouth plate, just push the stuffing out of the way.

    Cool. But, what type of glue is being used? "Hot melt glue?" It is spoken fast at 7 seconds into the video.

    • @SamPattersonEdD
      @SamPattersonEdD  5 лет назад +1

      Edward Reyes yep, hot melt glue- I use the coolest setting I can so the foam doesn’t melt.
