I'm afraid I cannot read the Kanji (?) script. Did I see the mons of Takeda and Uesugi? If so, is this the old Kawanakajima battlefield where these two clans fought three indecisive battles? An American fascinated by the Sengoku period.
@@半熟生太郎 Thanks. After I made my comment I realized my mistake on the mons of Takeda -that it is diamond-shaped. But yes, now that you have given the heads-up, I do recognize the Asai motif. I have heard of the famous Odani castle but know nothing about it. I shall have to google it.. I should be aware of the Oda mons of all of them, but for some reason did not. Like I said, I cannot read the Kanji. Again, thanks.
@@半熟生太郎 I did just a few moments ago read about Anegawa. Apparently most of the accounts given of the battle are fictions written decades later by noncombatants/ non-historians. Only one historical account exists, and it is sketchy. The countryside there is surely beautiful as portrayed in the video. At 3:40, one of the re-enactors is wearing glasses!
@@jeb6314 You seems to be much familiar about the situation tham me. BTW just one notice: In the modern pronunciation of Kanji, “浅井” is commonly pronounced as "Asai", but in TV dramas and on the Internet info., the name of the warlord of the time is pronounced as "Azai". I don't know why.
@@半熟生太郎 My interest in the Sengoku period came from two Nintendo games -one called "Shingen The Ruler" and, around 1992, a Koei game called "Nobunaga's Ambition #2". I have a curious nature about me and wondered if Koei made these names and scenarios up or were these real people. So I checked out books on Japanese history at the local library and found out -yes -this is very real. Ever since then I have had this interest and have studied lots about Japan. I find Japan and her people to be highly interesting. I love listening to koto and shakuhachi players and have watched a few kabuko via RUclips. Unlike most Americans, the weapons and ninja do not interest me much except in reference to the samurai themselves. The "Nobunaga" game listed the daimyo of Omi as "Asai Nagamasa" so that is how I am used to calling him. After I watched your video the other day RUclips as recommended several Japanese movie clips which I have been watching. The English translations are okay but not great.

This is the battle between Oda(織田) and Azai(浅井) at Odani castle (current in Shiga prefecture) between August to September 1573.
