    Awesome video. But need some help! My teenager and I are trying to remove the cup from the flywheel (like you’re doing at 10:17). The nut is stuck/frozen and whenever I try to unscrew the nut, the flywheel moves. Whether it’s with a high speed drill or a low speed high torque mechanism, we can’t get it to budge. Worse, we can’t find a way to keep the flywheel still while trying to unscrew the bolt in the cup. Any thoughts? It’s been soaking in some penetrant for a few days. But we are not hopeful…

    I like how he calls them cam followers. Very cool. In the US we call them lifters.

      Cam followers are what Honda call them. But i have heard both terms used.

      Lol i was wondering what the heck he was saying. Thinking to myself maybe he just makes up different names for parts for some reason. 😆

    I know this was years ago so i hope you see this. You mention an exhaust valve retainer. I have just stripped my mates sons engine as it had snapped a rocker arm. There was a small part sat loose in the top of the head which i am assuming is the retainer. Where does this retainer position when rebuilding it

    • @UKPrivatePilot
      @UKPrivatePilot 2 года назад

      It goes on top of the exhaust valve inside the exhaust valve retainer

    you removed the governor rod and spring saying you won't be re-using that, could you please explain why discard it, thank you

    • @richardrounce7138
      @richardrounce7138 Год назад

      Not sure if you still need an answer, but it's to achieve higher RPM. Governor's limit max RPM. However, you'll need a new billet aluminum flywheel and connecting rod.

    My gx160 has a magneto or coil inside the flywheel as well as the outside. I noticed urs didn’t have the inside one.
    Do u have to set a gap for reassembly for the inside one ? Or do u know how to do it ?

    I have a gx160, what carb should i use tp increase performance

  • @pauls5745
    @pauls5745 5 лет назад +2

    very thorough however one should insure the piston does not just fall and hit something hard. have a hand to catch it or a towel

    • @ProkartEngineParts
      @ProkartEngineParts  4 года назад +1

      We normally do, but this engine was getting a performance racing piston so this piston was going in the bin!

      Insure the piston? I’ve heard of car insurance but I’ve never heard of piston insurance 🤔

    I always see the gx160 and gx200 together when ever I look for parts, what is the actual difference?

    • @UKPrivatePilot
      @UKPrivatePilot Год назад +1

      The gx160 has a slightly smaller carb, smaller head volume, smaller exhaust and a different crank and piston. The rest of the parts are the same.

      @@UKPrivatePilot would a 160 head fit on a 200 to increase compression ratio?

    Which has more power GX 160 or GX 200?

    • @benruether8294
      @benruether8294 3 года назад

      The gx200 makes slightly more power. I believe Honda rated around 1.5 horsepower more.

    Why on earth would you strip it to tune it...?????

    • @ProkartEngineParts
      @ProkartEngineParts  4 года назад +4

      So you can add custom pistons, cams, cylinder head etc. There are loads of upgrade parts for these engines which require stripping the engine down completely to fit.

    Honda Gx160 made in China. Cold start can be an issue' lots of pulls before it starts. Not all Hondas are genuine Honda engines. HR series are genuine Honda. From the bad experience' will not buy Chinese made mower engine again ever.. Generally they are cheaper price' half the price' but will be thrown out after a while. Made th throw out' mot made to last.
