  • Slideshow of eleven Villas of Palladio in the Veneto Region of Northern Italy. Some are in a lamentable state, others are well-kept and open to the public.

Many thanks for uploading these fascinating photos. I'm more than a little shocked that buildings of this importance are allowed to fall into such a state of disrepair.

The villas of Palladio are protected (in theory) by UNESCO World Heritage. Nevertheless, the situation in the field is tragic. Visiting times are nebulous, many villas aren't open to the public at all, funding to maintain them seems to be unforthcoming. What can be done?

IT IS MONUMENTAL in proportion though Andrea Palladio work destined to influence architecture up to the end of time…
matter of simplicity, then symmetry form acquired its finest enriching upon the classic orders enactment. We shall call him The Tuscan Architect as he intentionally conspired with God to intermingle his divine inspiration through the very serenity of nature. Humane into highest impersonation of the self… heart
and soul are taken into complete sublimation through invigorating habitat, where the observer is privileged to fool the passing of the ages through an imaginative arch of grandest statue and frescos designed to attain unlimited inventiveness and unimaginable rejuvenating living.

Lovely pictures of course, but the slowest video I've ever seen. This could have been done in 5 minutes and not lost a thing.

We live in a world of stress and strain. I understand your impatience. However, those who take a less than cursory interest in great architecture need time to assess the proportions and evaluate the harmony, to compare and contrast. For that, an average of five seconds per slide is scarcely too long. It's like drinking a fine wine: don't gulp it down. Savour it! Let it pearl slowly over your taste buds! Relax!
