I had the privilege to play this for my grandma and told her this was my song for her before she passed away. My grandma had a beautiful voice just like Ms. Dianne Reeves. I will always cherish that memory and many more with her. This song means even more to me now that she's gone. RIP Georgia Mae Walker I will love you always

Waking up on the weekends as a kid and hearing my momma play this while she was cleaning now I’m 24 with Better Days tatted on my arm and finally came home after 6 years and we sang this together at her 60th b day. Definitely a moment I’ll hold on to forever.
Good morning, I have been listening to this song for over twenty years. After reading your comment about your mother made me think of mines. And The words to this song finally made sense. 😭😭😭😭. See I lost my mom 8 years ago with over forty other relatives, including siblings and nephews and nieces. Your words touched my soul. Thank you...
@@sandramerritt1013 I read your comment, had to read it a few times to make sure I was understanding correctly. My heart goes out to you pertaining to your family. And I myself, in my younger years heard this sound repeatedly in my house. But in my adulthood, maybe 20 years ago, I too , actually listened to the words and received enlightenment. Been years since I last heard this song, yet it randomly popped into my head , which lead me here to listen. This song grabs your mind, your heart and your soul. Brings out emotions. Anyway, really just wanted to offer my sincere condolences to you for your losses.
I lost my dear mother just a few weeks ago. She loved this song and adored Ms Reeves as an artist. My wife and I had the opportunity to take my mother to see Ms Reeves in concert about 10 years ago, she had stage-side seating and loved every moment. And now, my mother’s flying, sliding, and gliding in better days. All power to you Mommy. ❤️ Always ~ The Dude…
Sorry for your lost God bless you and your family stay strong for your mom she is in a better place I lost my mom also but the spirit never dies keep your head up
I had to play this song the day my grandmother passed at the Peppermint Lounge in NJ. People said it was the best they ever heard me play even though I cried through the entire song.
I heard this song @ a play at the Black Ensemble “Grandma Jukebox” by Michelle Renee Bester and did it bring back memories that I’m resting on now. I miss my Ga-momma
Dianne SANG this song! It came out shortly after my maternal grandmother made her heavenly transition. My paternal grandmother passed less than two years earlier. It was like this song was written especially for both of them. Continue to rest in paradise Pearl Gilmore Spears and Annie Hardy Wright.
Oh no! She is not unsung. She is still making jazz albums. This song crossed over to the r and b charts back in the late 80's but I assure you she is still making incredible music. Check out her albums.
Just cuz she's still active doesn't mean everyone knows of her. She's not as famous as she should be. Unsung doesn't mean retired artist, it means under-rated / under appreciated. Why would she no longer perform this song. Elaborate on why and how you got this information. Other-wise, it's non-sensical!!!! 👎😡🐂💩🐑🗑
One day my grandmother came into the kitchen and gave me a ruby and diamond gold heart. I tried not to take it, I knew what she was doing. R.I.P Charlotte A. Foster. I love and miss you. Wet face now. I tried to see if I could listen to this without crying.
+Alice Snow, The first time I heard this song was when I saw her perform live at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle (circa 1991), and I was a blubbering mess in front of a group of new friends. Aside from the message of the song, her voice is just so emotionally powerful. It was a dangerous combination. :-) If ever you have the opportunity to see her in concert, DO IT. I've seen her a couple times since that first show, and she's simply amazing.
Kelly Cox Semple. Yes Kelly, I always loved this song "Better Days" .However, I did not know that Ms.Reeves was such an awesome Jazz Singer. Her tribute song to Duke Ellington " I got it bad" is, unbelievable. If you haven't checked it out, please do . It's here on RUclips. MY mom and I was wondering if there would ever be a jazz singer, with the style and ability to fill the shoes of the two Greatest jazz performers, artist. People who in my opinion that help destroy the morality of a generation. But that's another story. The people who I just mentioned are not even in the same League as DIANNE REEVES....PEACE
A real old school song that makes you reminisce about the love and strength of a real mother!...... this song goes out to the real mothers in their child's life.... such a beautiful song!
My son dedicated this song to me on the radio when he was just a young man; it's not just about grandmothers but those who have that grandmotherly Spirit of love
And we're still crying nearing the end of 2022! I always appreciated my abuelita but it wasn't until I didn't have her here flesh here in the present and I matured that I realized how much of an influence she was on me. She is eternal life because I now pass those lessons on to my granddaughter who will hopefully pass them to hers.

My gf was started humming this song earlier, but couldn't remeber the lyrics or who sang it so I immediately had to find it on RUclips and it brought back so many memories of my late grandmother who passed from ovarian cancer some years ago. HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY DIANNE REEVES (OCTOBER 23, 2016)
Melody Sanger I didn’t know I shared a bday with my favorite vocalist! Thanks for that info!!!
Can’t get through this song without crying. That deep down crying I mean. Miss my Grandma so much! See you when I get there Mama❤️😘
My mom would always play this song. This song reminded her of my great grandmother.
I still cry on this song and this was my Grandma Carrie saying these words about patience child! Played this at my Granny's wake...
Thank you my sister , That was my Grandmother. Lord knows I miss her and wish it didn't take me so long realize what She was saying to me.
1 Love ...... Always
I miss my Lola as well.. =(
I was introduced to this song by someone many years ago and I can't thank them enough ! Truly blessed ❤❤❤
I was in my early 20’s when I first heard this song and I would cry because it reminded me of my grandmother Thirty years later I strive to leave my grandchildren with these type of life lessons
Classic Nostalgia of a time in my life when the world 🌎 as I knew it was more simllified & the love 💘 shared was more authentic. Enjoy every moment; thank God 🙏 for the gift of memory.
Omg! I didn't know there was a video for this song!
I love this video ,My son told me this song reminds him of me.How awesome is that.
I have always loved this song. Now listening to it in 2022 as a new grandmom it is with an infinitely deeper level of emotion. ❤
My gf was started humming this song earlier, but couldn't remeber the lyrics or who sang it so I immediately had to find it on RUclips and it brought back so many memories of my late grandmother who passed from ovarian cancer some years ago. I miss her so much! When I'm going thru tough times in life, I can just hear her say.."You can't get to no better days unless you make it thru the night!" I love and miss u Johnnie Arnelle Sheppard! You're gone but never forgotten!😇🥰🙏
imo the best song for grandmas. Glad to have both of them at 76 and 86!
Heard a snippet of this on Rickey Smiley show this morning, I’ve already played it about 5 times. 😢❤️ Sent it to my family. So many memories of our mother and grandmother 🙏🏽🕊
I heard it to this morning, I cried all the way to work . I went on RUclips and played it all day today. You right it bring back so many memories. Lost my Mom coming up on two year in July. 😭She is resting with her Mom in Heaven.
Me too! I cried like a baby. Nothing like a grandma's love..... I lost my grandmother in 2019. Although I miss her so, thankful that I had her in my life well into my 40's. ❤️
I always think of my grandmothers when hearing this song....
🥰😍😎❤❤❤❤
Lost my grandma 2yrs ago. I don't have much memory of her with me, but yeah i missed her every now and then. And this song reminds me of her.
