Jerry Williams & The Boppers - Who's Gonna Follow You Home was the first song I remember ever liking when I was a kid, and it has stuck with me ever since, it's a good song and it would be really nice if you reacted to it :), actually, why not do a Williams Night Hang? He's done a lot of great songs! Btw, I saw him live just a year before he died, surreal to say the least! He's such an icon in Swedish music!
He grew up watching Elvis Presley movies copying the style when he was a teenager. After that and the breakthrough JW was called The Swedish Rock King. He sang lots of Elvis Presley songs and others. Man he was a gigantic artist and without him Swedish music would have sounded completely different.
I saw him too, in the 90ies in a Swedish Folkpark, him performing on an outdoor scene with a sold out show! He was really good and his musicians too! 🥰 I’ve always loved this song! It makes me happy! 😊
Also his version of "Working Class Hero" is truly amazing, but i'm not sure if it is a classic. (For me it is though.) The live version is definitely the one to watch; ruclips.net/video/y0zWxTaeBJA/видео.html
@@sannaschoblom8547 it's definitely my favorite version of this song. I like it more than Marianne Faithfull's version, and a lot more than Lennon's original.
Gillar Jerry Williams.
Jerry always followed his own path based on 50s rock-n-roll. And he worked hard and toured a lot. In the 80s the time was right and he became very popular.

Dear Jonathan, thank you for your nice comments on this song Jerry Williams version. I've lived in Sweden half my life, this song will put you in a dance mode even in or darkest days. BTW his dance moves is a little different from other singers. All his other songs are just as good, loved him, may he RIP.
Great song! Remember when it was on the lists and there was actually a song that I could listen to when my father was around. That did NOT happen very often!
Now you should react to "En Dag" med Tommy Nilsson. ;-) Jerry was the background singer in that song, together with Lili och Susie, Ankie Bagger, Tommy Ekman (from the group Freestyle) and som others artists.
Me and my father went to see Jerka and The Boppers at Eskilstunas djurpark (zoo) many years ago. When we got there no one stands in front of the stage. I said to my dad, lets sit down so we have good spots when thet come out. He hated it. But now he is so happy because he could stand in the front! We also met him many times at "german shepherd sm" because he had german shepherds that competet there 😊
The way he moves.... Well, Jerry Williams was kind of "The Elvis Presley of Sweden Rock King" since the early sixties or even earlier, I guess that is why. There are lots of songs from his career to experience. In the seventies he toured Sweden with a band called Roadwork. One great song from that era is called burn out and there is a fantastic fan made video here on RUclips I think You ought to check out!
Love everything about the man. His old timey working class stockholmska, him being a socialist or even communist, his whole attittude towards life. Coolest guy ever!
Did this sound like 1988? I would rather say it sounds like 1958 made in 1988. :) Not sure about 1939 though. Popular because it was in a popular movie. Not more than that.. If you want a second classic from Hoffsten, it should probably be "Let the best man win".
@@Huxteble Nej, inte rockabilly precis, var kanske fel att säga 1958, men grunden känns ändå inte som nått från 1988. Lite annorlunda produktion och det skulle inte kännas fel med Elvis som sångare. :)

Love your stuff man don't know if my suggestion got removed somehow, it's När vindarna viskar mitt namn by Roger Pontare. A beautiful song about Samer and their "land".
One you definitely should listen to is his version of Working class hero by John Lennon. I think he does it better than JL. I also think it is the best he has done. His real name was Erik Fernström, but when he started singing he chose Jerry Williams as his alias. A great singer.
Interesting facts: Jerry var tillsammans med Sven Wollter (skådespelare) och Pia Sundhage (f.d. landslagspelare i fotboll, f.d. förbundskapten för svenska landslaget, former coach for USWNT where she won Olympic gold and turned down Trump's invitation to the WH, and current coach för Brasiliens landslag) svensk offentlighets kändaste uttalade kommunister.
