The Lincoln Speedway virtual flagging system debuts this weekend, and one high profile Central PA driver says we should be open minded. We'll talk about that plus High Limit and Lucas at Golden Isles, other weekend racing to watch, and something new coming from DIRTRACKR.

I like having a good flagman but Ive been to tracks that no flagman would be better than what they had. It would not stop me from going to the races though.
I personally don’t like it, it’s done at the Perth Moterplex, I think something is lost not having a personality adding to the experience.
Just because it can be done doesn’t necessarily mean it should be.
The virtual flagman lights work well at the Perth Motorplex in Australia. I understand the history and significance of the flagman, who doesn't, but now its also a safety issue for officials alll around the track as the cars are faster than ever.
The ones who really get hurt on this are the kids that have all the flags. Their whole night revolves around them. It would be a shame if this lost young fans.
Im seriously debating on gping to lincoln, at least for the saturday show. It'll be real interesting to see the video boards in action.
The build series is nice for people to see what it takes to put a car together. Maybe a Late Model team,IMCA,Northeast Modified and others you can work with..
I’d like to go and see the new flagged deal and how it works. I just can’t imagine it until I see it for myself. Great show!
Terms like “Technology” and “virtual” are an hysterical. The traffic light was invented in 1914. Using these terms is similar to when an inmate gets released and is caught of guard by a talking doorbell and smart phones.
Not sure if im gonna go this weekend but should be intresting to see that. Im all for it🤙🏁
I would love to see a build series for a dirt LM or Mod as well!
Great show.
If not going to a dirt track race because of the virtual flagger deal then I guess you're really not a race fan. It can't be in your blood if you let that affect you going to the track. That's just a fact.
IT WOULDN'T STOP ME FROM GOING TO THE RACES, BUT TO ME, THE FLAGMAN IS CENTRAL TO THE RACING EXPERIENCE...
@@nealdavis938 I don't think I'd like it either but I'd still go.
No one was discussing boycotting the races over such a change and the fan experience is entirely (fairly) irrelevant to the conversation. The rationale debate that’s logged is by those drivers whom are accustomed to the few real flagman whom are uniquely good at their job and do dar much more then wave a flag with a limp “D” hand. Unfortunately to the average fan and even modern driver they aren’t privy to this experience or knowledge and fail to comprehend the benefits of such an asset. Most of a fundamentally flawed understanding of the responsibilities and duty’s of a flagman and like always don’t comprehend the negative impacts, including those to the experience. Said negatives compound over time further nibbling at a sport that’s statistically rotting away. We do this often by injecting change where change isn’t necessary rather then address tangible issues with logical, strategical and comprehensive solutions. We simply ignore the gapping wounds and instead focus on styling our hair. Incompetence is rampant among the sport and this is more evident by labeling what’s essentially a tragic light as advanced technology. The fact that people will seemingly forget and move on is irrelevant and this is a karate the case however to the more cognizant members of the community the systemic impacts are blatant.
Tell the flag man at Volusia Speedway during speed weeks he is not needed! He is the best 🙌😃
He is definitely a big part of the show in my opinion
Looks like it will be a chilly one for saturday. High of 33 for me 50 miles north of it. Probably 38 for them
Flo racing. Yeah baby yeah!!
What the heck I do like that virtual flagging system I never thought virtual reality would take flagman away too
I have over sixty years of being an avid sprint car racing fan. I have attended races from coast to coast during that time. The FLAGMAN is an integral part of the racing experience not to mention the safety concerns for the drivers. FYI My cell phone was without service for several hours today. Disaster will occur when the human factor is removed.
Well Mike Waddell, the technology in the track lighting and/or track lights (green/yellow/red) could fail at any time too
on larson, hes good real good, but not doing every race on the schedual hurts his chances at winning the championship I would think, as first places are good but its the overall points that win a championship, even aj foyt didn't win every race he entered, the virtual systom on the other topic time will tell but you still got to have spotters for it to work well in a dusty dirt track environment where you get soo much dust you cant see the cars as well from the control tower, or whereever race control is at, this dont take men and ladies out of the loop, and with some tracks running thin margins I dont know that the progression from electric signaling will be like wild fire, only time will tell, but major places like eldora, knoxvill, maybe the big tracks in cali I could see it becoming a thing perhaps.
honestly, most weekly flaggers that i've seen just wait for the tower to tell them what to do, so if we can make it safer, sounds good to me.
Where will the Lone Star 600 be held? Previously Devils Bowl!
105 Speedway
3 DAYS LINCOLN STARTS
Sure love dirt oval racing lol
I have always said... never limit your business but naming it something like... Race On Texas. That put a limit on it. But to the really funny part... did they mention Big O or did you just pick that track from their website? What am I talking about? You will see when the WoO goes there. I've been all for no flag man for a few decades. Back in the day my idea was to have smaller flags controlled by someone in the booth and the flag would drop down and then come up as needed. Kind of on a bar or pipe to give you an idea. With bluetooth the flagman isn't really needed except for the fans and most times the flagman doesn't do things he should... like give someone a black flag. The driver is told over the radio and the fans never know anyway. And at our track, our announcers really suck and they never give us any type of information at all.
Prefer the flagman.
If anyone would look at the weather forecast, I don't think it's gonna happen this weekend but it will happen. Eventually is it Going to happen we'll See
I just hope nobody gets hurt in the tom Foolry, that could happen.
Cause I personally would not race at all or support This system
They aren't calling for rain. Temps?
If I went to a track that had this flagging system I'd leave and never return until they brought back the actual flag man. Ridiculous
Wow your hardcore if I get there and they Dont have a fence I am staying , I will just be a a little picker where I sit .
Only thing ridiculous about this is you’re halfwitted take. Like seriously, how does it change the on track racing? You know, the thing you got to a RACE for.
@@dave3823 OK boomer
Video boards cost more than employing a human being.
You only have to pay for the board once.
never sell me on the idea of no flagman. i have no problem with the system just should keep the flagman for anything it s just a better show
As a racetrack flagger... i will make a personal point of NOT watching and or supporting lincoln speedway in any form of their video board setup...
Good for you
As you starting taking away the 'personality' of the track experience, you will start loosing the excitement and fans. I love watching the flag man. I really do.
