Hi Del, James Cramer here. I haven't communicated a lot since your new build but after seeing the paint job on the rear fender mate....that is amazing. Considering it's your first try I think you nailed it. I think the thin line of black running on the inside of the black outer border has complimented the whole thing. I really hope you keep this colour and design. Love to you both x
Thank you James, good to hear from you again... yes, am happy with it so far, have re-done it since this video, just to narrow the silver band a little and get the proportions right... next video will be the other fender, see if I can get it the same! Thanks for your support mate, D&Px
I'm not a harley guy but WOW I love that work on the fenders! Maybe a purple tint would be a good addition but thats only my view, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I couldn't believe my eyes. Top job DB.
Now that paint and clear coat on looks awesome. Wasn't sure at the start but dam that now looks fine. Clear coat has really made it pop. Super job del can't wait to see this bike finished.
Thanks buddy, still faffing about with it, ive re-coated the front fender again over the last few days, it has a narrower silver section now and looks better... and will be getting into the back fender tomorrow for Friday's video.. wish me luck, it aint over till the bike rumbles out the door..lol!
Thank you J, that's very kind of you, this has been an experiment and a gamble from the start, and I've no idea what it'll look like on the bike... but we shall see! Thank you for your support always brother, chat soon, all the best, D&Px
Excellent job mate, now you have just got to see how it looks on the bike. Love the board update, how true is that statement. Penny and you have a safe week. Cheers
I must say I was very skeptical when I saw you removing original paint but after seeing the results of first paint job on front fender I must say it will look awesome on the bike. Good luck with the rest of the project. I have great pleasure in watching your work and how the whole final look of the bike unfolds.
Hi Dell, I think the front fender looks great, I must admit I was not sure about the scuff effect but with the addition of the paint I think it looks fantastic. Nice idea. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it finished.
I was really not sure :) .... but once the paint went on, looked great !! Think everyone is happy its not just the black spray again, different, nice job.
Yes, it is great! All Delboy fans can now follow not only a great mechanic but also an artist. I would not be surprised if the big motorcycle companies copy this idea into some mass production. Inspiration - big time! /Kalle
Hi Kalle, thank you for that extremely kind endorsement... I think they already do, some of the specialist CVO paints and 8Ball paint schemes from Triumph feature bare metal under clear lacquer, it's not original entirely... this just shows you can do it at home and make a reasonable job of it too!
Thanks brother, just replied to your email btw!.. and thanks for the offer, if I've moved it by then, am sure there'll be another one! Have a good week buddy, D&Px
Cheers Dave, im not unhappy with it myself.. but it is maybe a bit bling... time will tell if it looks any good on the bike.. if not, then i can always paint it over in a cool colour... we shall see.. Hope Youz all well mate, have a good week and chat soon.. D&Px
To be honest I was at first skeptical about your plans for the fenders and fuel tank.. BUT seeing the front fender done, it really looks cool. Going to be interesting to see how it turns out once everything is done and back on the bike... Take care!!!!
Thanks Tom, I know it's hard sometimes to see our vision, so thanks sticking with it, let's see what it looks like all on the bike... but happy with it so far!
omg del. I thought this was going to look alright but defo not my cup of tea but in all honesty I absolutely love it! looks amazing! really canny wait to see it on the bike! nice work champ!
Cheers Kevin, that's very kind mate... sometimes it's hard to vocalise your vision and sometimes it's just better if I just get on with it! Happy with it so far, but you're right, it needs to be seen on the bike to see the full effect!
I didn't know if I liked the idea but have to say it is fantastic looking def think the while bike will look the part when all done well done brill job
Del, I wasn’t sure when you started scuffing the body panels, but the finish product.... you’ve won me over! Great paint job mate. Keep up the awesome work 👍
Del it looks insanely good, it will look so good, up against the rest of the black on the bike, not garish cos it's not accents , just a single solid theme running down the middle, be brave Del!
Looks awesome Del, should be ready just in time for when the clocks change to British summertime at the end of the month. Light evenings and warm weather, bike time! Whoop whoop.
Thank you Jason, ot's not finished by a long way, I may reduce the amount of silver showing by bringing the lines in a bit, but this is just a first test to see if I like the look! D&Px
Hey brother, thank you for that, I have your email, and will be replying later this evening, been buried in paintwork, admin and day job all week... need a 25hr day!
Looks awesome, when I painted my z750 tank with tough black I contacted simoniz/Holt's and they advised me that you can't lacquer over tough black paint, not even their own lacquer. Be good to see how yours comes out 🤞🏻 but you already know by now 😎👍🏻
Hi Ian... Remember the XJR Turbo project, the one we did the true fire paint on?.. that was all Tough Paint black in the base coat if you remember, and we had no issues... but it was allowed to cure for almost two weeks before we did the art work and then layed up 6 coats of 2k clear.... However, as a side note.. the tough paint is thick, and leaves a really prominent ridge between the two finishes... so im trying out some acrylic paint with matching primer for the back fender this weekend...(its all an experiment) hoping that the combination of a thin coat of primer, and a thin coat of regular acrylic black will be thinner than the two coats of tough paint.. we shall see.!
@Moonfleet41 ahhhh gotcha!! I've got to redo my z750 tank as petrol got under the edge of the paint near the neck, just waiting on nicer weather as haven't got anywhere to paint it.
I have to say I was a little skeptical on the way it would look, but it looks fantastic, not bad for a rattle can. But you said you wanted to get away from the bling and it definitely has that bling pop. Don't get me wrong it looks great. I look forward to seeing what it looks like on the bike. Always a pleasure you guys take care.
Yeah, i admit Bradley, it is a bit bling, and maybe that will get it painted over in the end.. but its a bit of fun and im enjoying the learning process... who knows where it will end up..!!
I can't visualise how things will look so was really interested how this was going to turn out. Looks great, really smart. Looking forward to seeing how it looks on the bike!
To be honest I wasn't too sure about this look at first - however now with the black contrast and lacquer.... it looks superb! (Not garish at all) I love it. Keep it coming Del I learn every time I visit the garage. :-)
That looks mint bruv. It would certainly be a looker 🤙. That metal has turned out really well. Cant wait to see it . Ride and drive safe both of you take care bruv.
OK, that's impressive - when you first leapt on the original paint with the grinder, I admit I did wince a little - but, as a true believer that all paint is excess weight & therefore fundamentally silly - t'was a token wince at best. Must say, it looks as good if not better than I hoped it would; so I'll stick with my original daft, yet gifted suggestion of a light ivory clearcoat over the lot, so building up the depth to a rich, 'era evoking sepia swirling above the mysteries of time'. (Thinks: Hmm, flat scrumpy revived half & half with Special Brew IS different - 'hand me that piano!' : ) x
That look is starting to grow on me, didn't think it would. I agree, until you get it on the bike, not possible to really tell. Loved the transition editing when changing pads on the grinder. Looks very much like 'This Old Tony'. Excellent welding and machining channnel, especially given he is a hobbyist. Also he's very funny!
Hah! Some this old Tony style editing there. Brilliant. I'll say this: Do it right, do it once. Or the other way around.. doesn't matter I suppose! Be well sir ❤
Hey Ollie, do it once... I wish!... I'm gonna be doing this front fender again as the silver bit is too wide and a bit too dominating, am gonna narrow it down off camera before the next video... I like the look, so am just gonna set the proportions right and in the next video I'll move on to the rear fender and do the same! Always good to hear from you mate, take care, D&Px
Hi Del, James Cramer here. I haven't communicated a lot since your new build but after seeing the paint job on the rear fender mate....that is amazing. I had my doubts when you started with that pattern, no doubts anymore, looks wonderful! it is a pleasure to watch you working Del. Nice Job!
Thank you my friend, appreciate your faith!
Very nice will look awesome when all on the bike. Got me wanting to do something special on my bike 👍
Wowwwww, That's Awesome. Love the Outcome. Penny & You Del Have A Wonderful Week and Enjoy the Weather and Ride Safely.
I'm not a harley guy but WOW I love that work on the fenders! Maybe a purple tint would be a good addition but thats only my view, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I couldn't believe my eyes. Top job DB.
I've been thinking about making some custom parts for my bike with my everlast welder. Thanks for showing us your technique for the painting process.
WOW. I think the paint is really cool. The thin line really adds to the look.
Thanks David, that's very kind, just enjoying the process!
Now that paint and clear coat on looks awesome. Wasn't sure at the start but dam that now looks fine. Clear coat has really made it pop. Super job del can't wait to see this bike finished.

I think i like it Del 😁 need to see it on the bike really but its looking pretty neat, guaranteed there wont be another like it 👍👌
It's not garish at all. That looks AMAZING, in my not so humble opinion. That's cool as hell. Well done, sir!
Thank you J, that's very kind of you, this has been an experiment and a gamble from the start, and I've no idea what it'll look like on the bike... but we shall see! Thank you for your support always brother, chat soon, all the best, D&Px
Looks excellent, like the toned down look.
Excellent job mate, now you have just got to see how it looks on the bike. Love the board update, how true is that statement. Penny and you have a safe week. Cheers
Sure thing brother, I thought it would appeal to the right people!.... have a great week yourself, D&Px

Very good paint job Del,cant wait to see it on't bike

Cheers Scott, wasn't sure how it would come out, but happy with it so far!
anything out of a spray can is not gasoline resistant soon as gas hits it it's gone!
I’m digging the paint job. I would offer that you might continue. Truly “One of a kind!”
Looks superb buddy, hell of a job 🤘🤘
Something so simple as just scuffing the metal, and yet it looks so good. Awesome job Del.
Gold leaf pin stripe on the black I think would be a nice touch.

Looks Awesome!
I think it's a keeper Del, looks great.
Looks amazing Del, the pin striping is spot on 👌
Thanks Simone, it's a long way from perfect, but it'll do for me and am happy with the process!
Nice job Del, remember to fill out the change of colour section on the V5 and send it back to the DVLA.
Oh yes indeed, I certainly will my friend, wise advice
Looking sensational, Del! (If the body still needs moving in April, I’ll be there to help ya!) 🏍👍🏍

Even newer paint stripper works, but only if you wrap the part in plastic and let it sit for at least a day.
