The banter is so refreshing. Not cringy and so funny. Love watching these videos. One of my favorite channels… now if you can get Reid to do some live Jund games I’ll be complete
Now that topdeck plow made by Tommi was the cherry of the cake in these games 🤣. Amazing video as always lads! Please keep doing paper games of premodern! Cheers!
You two convinced me to start playing pauper, and I think you might also be convincing me to start playing premodern too! Congrats on the tournament win Tommy!!
I'm normally not into "closed" formats that will never see new cards, but Premodern looks sweet. There's something refreshing about a relatively low-powered eternal format where there's tons of interaction and minimal fast combo or one-card game enders like Atraxa.
That is one of the beautiful parts of this format. There are no flawless efficient threats. There are lots of very powerful strategies and threats like Phyrexian Dreadnought, but all of them have their flaws. Most of the creatures shown in this matchup just get replaced by Tarmogoyf and you end up with a less interesting format if he was around. It really is a blast to brew in Premodern.
these types of videos are great! please keep doing it, I stopped playing a couple of times with many years ib between, but used to play "extended" around 2004, and always comming back. Didn't know about this premodern format, and now I can't wait to go back to the tables with my powerful The rock deck hahaha. Greetings from Argentina. I'll keep watching the rest of the games of this series, thank You Mengu for giving us this type of content
Such an incredibly high quality paper magic channel... i couldn't care less about premodern as a format, but i could watch you two playing rock paper scissors all day as well! So very enjoyable, keep it going guys!
There was a line in G1 where mengu could have used the 4 counters on his tide in response to Plow to untap his lands and play a second tide afterwards, then Tommy would have been able to cast the toppdecked Geddon. Love the premodern content! Keep it coming.
I knew Tommy was good but winning a National Champ is no easy feat! Definitely makes me feel like I'm being entertained and learning while watching these vids.
Premodern is hilarious. Its crazily high powered, with cards like Armageddon, Wasteland, Mox Diamond, and Ancient Tomb, but also cards like Rith's Grove being good enough to play.
Mengu would never win, he's up against the greatest power among magic players the champion's top deck 🤣🤣🤣. Great video, guys! Keep up the awesome content, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Pauper videos!!
unironically i started playing in the first ixalan set in 2017. this is probably the most interesting format to me that is not a highlander format. so many unreasonably broken cards. like you play wasteland mox diamond sylvan librayry and werebear in the same deck. this is my kind of magic. i also love the uw replenish deck. i wish they started printing in this philosophy again. insane enablers with weaker or more expensive to cast cards. this is very interesting magic.
That last game had it all, wish I could be so "calm" and shake that hit off so good like you can. Guess the biggest flaw in my game - at least the one i am most aware of
I love it! Although I haven't played, this is easily becoming my favorite format to watch, and especially with your awesome collection/editions! I have a play question at 9:05. With Tommy's swords on the stack, could Mengu not use the tide on some of his own lands, as they reenter untapped? If he used three counters, leaving the tide at 1, he would still gain life from the swords, but would have had enough mana to intuition on tommy's turn, maybe for some lands or other setup.
If you're still taking advice for how to improve the quality of the videos (which are already very high quality by the way), consider changing the items in the background for Mengu's side. I noticed that the items in the background on Tommy's side frame him very well, whereas Mengu is backlit and the shelf behind his head draws attention away from him when he's talking and towards the items on the shelf.
love that you are referring to GW and UW instead of Selesnya and Azorious... makes sense since this is Premodern after all! The little things right? (and makes me feel better referring to it that way too!)
9:20 isnt it more optimal to exile your own lands so when the plow resolves, you have untapped lands and can play another parallax tide? I am no premodern player so if mengu was playing around something, please share.
At 9:16, could you not have used 3 counters from Parallax Tide to exile your own lands, then Swords resolves and you get them back untapped, so you can now play Attunement or Intuition? Edit: or plow.
Imo premodern is the best format, but because the cardpool is locked, it would be super cool if there were similar cardpool locked formats, like Mirrodin to Alara. But idk maybe it doesn't play out as well, but with a good well kept ban-list like PM does, I can't imagine it not being fun!
Asking first asking as a question. At 8:09 tommy taps a land at mangu upkeep. That would mean that mangu only as 2 island to tap. How can he make 3 mana?
i've been digging this format lately, but my only problem is it takes so much money to play it on paper or mtgo, and there seems to be no cockatrice community for it! either way, my new goal is to buy a full premodern deck for myself
Great games guys, always a joy watching your gameplay videos. Tommy, I have a Showcase Samwise Gamgee signed by the actor Sean Astin! Let me know if you're interested. I'm located in Canada however so the shipping 😅
Wow that was a really awesome video by two extremely skilled players (one that is skilled in luck and the other one that is skilled in everything but luck.) :D
I adore your premodern content, but Burn, Goblins, Elves, Madness and Stiflenaught can all put in stronger performances than GW Terrageddon Tommy. UW Parallax Replenish though, sure that's absolutely in the conversation for top 4! But Terrageddon is more a 5-8th power rank deck, no matter how much I love it.
The banter is so refreshing. Not cringy and so funny. Love watching these videos. One of my favorite channels… now if you can get Reid to do some live Jund games I’ll be complete
That s a very hard task but we ll try :)
Thats so real, so many channels have cringe banter but not mengu 🙏
Rith's Grove being playable in the same format as Wasteland and Ancient Tomb is definitely not something I ever expected to see
Now that topdeck plow made by Tommi was the cherry of the cake in these games 🤣. Amazing video as always lads! Please keep doing paper games of premodern! Cheers!
Andrea e Tommy, siete dei grandi. Da qualche tempo sono entrato ancora più dentro magic e i vostri video sono d'ispirazione. Continuate così, super!!
the Tommi and Andrea's synergy makes this channel so much fun.
“My plan is to topdeck replenish”
Love seeing y’all play paper magic and love this channel
Always have a plan!
Mengu discovering the infinite mana combo, *chef's kiss*
You two convinced me to start playing pauper, and I think you might also be convincing me to start playing premodern too! Congrats on the tournament win Tommy!!
Thanks! We’ll play Pauper next one (MonoU vs Jund Glee)

Just want to say how happy I am that you are making this content. Keep up the great work!!
Premodern is a ton of fun. I've been enjoying it locally. It's been very refreshing to play. I hope to see more veedeos soon!

Troppo bello questo formato!!! Grazie mille per il proselitismo che stai facendo mostrando queste bellissime partite!
Really enjoy your premodern content

Love the premodern content! Keep it coming.
This is what I was thinking! Looks like he could have potentially turned the game around.
I knew Tommy was good but winning a National Champ is no easy feat! Definitely makes me feel like I'm being entertained and learning while watching these vids.
Great video, this match was extremely fun to watch! Congratulations on the tournament win as well, Tommy!
The production value of this gameplay made this enjoyable to watch. Great editing, camera quality, and commentary.
Thanks!
Great Match and Video! haven‘t enjoyed MTG content so much for a looooong time
Loving the paper gameplay, cheers Mengu and Tommi!
always a fan of mengus workshop videos its a fresh take on the sometimes similar decks we see on the mengu main channel in modern XD
Thanks!
Whenever i see a vid with mengu in it i click immediately this guys gameplay is a joy to watch
That first game looked super fun and interactive for mengu.
Gotta love the Replenish deck. That's one of my favorites in premodern along with Lands.
Premodern is hilarious. Its crazily high powered, with cards like Armageddon, Wasteland, Mox Diamond, and Ancient Tomb, but also cards like Rith's Grove being good enough to play.
love your premodern videos mengucci!
I love how excited Tommi was at drawing the first Armageddon. Man's about to lay waste to your whole existence.
Those were some great games. Been a long time since I've seen of those official Elephant tokens from Invasion/Odyssey hitting the table!
We used them on others premodern veedeos on this channel too, check them out!
Andrea trying to chump block with that fetchland :D Sneaky move.
Congrats on your finishes at nationals! Great game as always too
Mengu would never win, he's up against the greatest power among magic players the champion's top deck 🤣🤣🤣. Great video, guys! Keep up the awesome content, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Pauper videos!!
Premodern and Pauper that's the content i enjoy watching the most.
Pauper is up next!
@@MengusWorkshop Awesome. I'll be waiting for that video.
That was an awesome match! Tommi, Campione d'Italia!
That topdeck Plow. **chef's kiss**
Favorite Magic Channel

Such a cool idea! (Maybe some acoustic foam would help with the echo 🙏)
Tommy has protagonist powers with that Swords topdeck
That last game had it all, wish I could be so "calm" and shake that hit off so good like you can. Guess the biggest flaw in my game - at least the one i am most aware of
G1: Tide your own lands in response to the StP, then you get them back untapped and you play the 2nd one.
This match was very enjoyable to watch
Loving premodern format!
I love it! Although I haven't played, this is easily becoming my favorite format to watch, and especially with your awesome collection/editions!

If he used three counters, leaving the tide at 1, he would still gain life from the swords, but would have had enough mana to intuition on tommy's turn, maybe for some lands or other setup.
Yes. Or he can target tommys land and they never come back
This was a really beautiful set of games!
My wish of seeing Parallax Wave combo is here!
Congratulations, Tomi!!! I always knew you were the strongest!
Great video and great channel, guys.
Armaggedon....the sweetest of them all
24:41 explains "he would not have 2 mana available except from Werebear"
24:42 untaps treetop village
Wish I had a friend like Tommi who's always down for a game of high level Magic. I sometimes have to beg my friends to play :P
love that you are referring to GW and UW instead of Selesnya and Azorious... makes sense since this is Premodern after all! The little things right? (and makes me feel better referring to it that way too!)

Good line yes
Not wave again lol much love from Indiana USA
Don’t be a hater! Who doesn’t love to get their lands and creatures exiled forever! 😅
@@MengusWorkshop and now we know infinite mana
More premodern videos!!! Maybe you could play the Sligh list that won the European Championship in Prague?
Yeah! And also MonoU
At minute 17:00 how did you exile opponent land but not our own ????
We want to see the full 4season tournament gameplay! ❤
It will happen, but need to wait some time :)
Love me some GW threshold
🙌 🙌

You can float mana in response
@@MengusWorkshop thank you i tough you casted on main phase, not on upkeep
Gratz! 🎉
13:57 how did mengu play the morph for 2 mana?
One of his lands ancient tomb which produces 2 colorless mana
Please do premoder 4c control. I have been asking for a few months now and it would mean a lot. I love the deck so much
I know you love Parallax combo but we wanna see you pilot other stuff too Mengu lol good match though 🙏🙏
Check the rest of this channel, plenty of Premodern videos!
in the end why discard parallax and not play?
Gg more premodern please!
i've been digging this format lately, but my only problem is it takes so much money to play it on paper or mtgo, and there seems to be no cockatrice community for it! either way, my new goal is to buy a full premodern deck for myself
Great veedeo as always😊
Paper Magic is real Magic 🥰
Great match up, please test replenish vs UW SOLUTION or ug madness (no survival”
pls play more vintage, premodern and legacy. there is a need for old border cards on camara:)
More Premodern dude!!!
Heh, I like the gameplay vids, but ngl I can go a while without seeing another parallax wave combo deck 😅
This decks are very unfair and they both try to lock opponent, nonetheless the games were super close. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Tommy best topdecker ever 😂
No bias in these top decks I see
Can we get the decklists?
In description
Premodern = Like!

GG
Tommy è il campione ufficiale ma sappiamo benissimo chi è il vero campione XD Mengu sei riuscito a raffreddarti un po' o sei sempre bruciato?
Magic is a variance game, no tournament is won with only skill. That is the champion diffrence, he always has it! Plow of the top on the last turn
Sooo good
Green White Tommy too powerful
why doesn't every deck play mox diamond (other than price)
It s card disadvantage
GGG!!!!!!
more premodern plz
I love your content but i miss pauper veeeedeos!!
Next one will be pauper!
for the algo

UW Parallax Replenish though, sure that's absolutely in the conversation for top 4! But Terrageddon is more a 5-8th power rank deck, no matter how much I love it.
Yup, but RG TerraOath is certainly in top stop
Tommy disagrees and keep on crushing with it!
Terrageddon no1! Everytime I played IT on a big Tournament I got a top finish with it
