    When I was racing I used a unicon system that's what everyone here in Texas uses its simple and works well your birds are doing well if they loft fly that long racing pigeons does take a lot of time and money

    Birds are looking great my brother I was having a similar problem to that I think it was last year where the birds were all come back from training and pile in and I had at that .50 something birds so the clock would not catch all the birds because like you say they would jump over each other. I was a little worried like you but when I came race time I never got such a big group of birds at once where I had to worry about that problem at the most and be like a group of 10 or 12 birds at once and they were all scanning. Just sharing a little piece of mind 😆 god bless brother and keep up the great work

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the input my friend, a lot of people are saying that so I’m not going to worry about it. I guess if I am home and a bird traps and doesn’t register I can just go on the inside grab it and run out and scan it. Hopefully I don’t need to. I hope your birds are getting into great shape now! Have a great day brother, God bless

    Mike birds are looking good. Remember that on race day the first 3 birds that come in are the possible winners the rest you just want them to at least get home at a good time.
    Talking about getting home, did all the Mortvedts finally get home from that one bad toss where you lost some.

    Hi. Another nice video. Always looking to watch your videos and learn from them. I am in my first year too. Are you still feeding once a day, and if so, how do you do to bring the birds back in the afternoon from a loft fly? Did you find out if you can race the pigeons that are moulting. Thanks in advance

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  3 года назад

      I only feed once a day when I return from the loft fly or toss. Hi used to fly them twice a day and cut the feed in half giving only like feed after the morning flight.
      Definitely don’t want to race molting pigeons.
      Thanks for your comment my friend

    Where the pad is concerned of birds not scanning the birds , i think your best option its to build a box on the outside so that they wont be able to get on top of eachother and they will be forced to walk over the pad and not jump on top of each other and your problem will be solved

  • @pcfitter5327
    @pcfitter5327 3 года назад +1

    Great timing system, a big improvement from the past where you had to remove the rubber band and insert it in a machine. Is the feather cutting and plucking a normal thing that racers do today? I also have not heard about going dark to enhance mounting. Things have changed a lot and added much work to keep birds in racing shape. Looking good! enjoy your videos.

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  3 года назад

      This is my first year trying out racing but from what I’ve been told you cut the primary flights and pull them 2weeks later. I’m not sure I agree with it so I only did the oldest ones. The dark system does seem to be working but I have been told that I am starting it to late. It’s a learning experience for me 😁
