As a United fan since a youngen I am 34 now ..I love Ben he was always such a professional and is such a genuine humble guy and not bad between the sticks either, love his honesty and wicked humour. Long live the fozcast 👊🏻
Love how honest Ben is about money. Way too many people so secretive about money
Met Ben at a waitrose in my town when he played for United. Seemed like just a normal fella
I’d be totally buzzing now on £600 a week!!!
And I mean I’d be jumping around!
I earn £430 a week and it ain’t too bad considering where I’m from , still not great all the same
I remember back in 2006 when me an my pal earned our 1st wage of £600 in a week. Day rate as joiners was around £120 a day back then but we had to pay our 20% tax out of that which took us back to £480. All we wanted to do was start working Saturdays to compensate that extra day but when they weren’t going £480 take home with ya tax paid was great….. we were only 23 at the time so we’re out most weekends in the bars round liverpool….. great days 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Proper down to earth lad man I bet he’d be a great guy to have a few beers with and listen to his stories
Gazza is looking well these days.
Man of the people. You can’t dislike him
Can't imagine these players that get 80mil a year thinking they would ever be satisfied. Foster sounds like a genuine bloke!

The average salary at Man Utd is now £7 m a year in the first team. That sounds and is insane but we casually refer to a player being on £150K a week at clubs and they are not the top earners. No wonder if a player is at a top club and it goes wrong they get released they have been in stupid money and suddenly it drops massively. Can get lured into dealing drugs etc
Love Ben great saves for Wrexham the other day. Still got it mate
Grounded, respectable and genuine, and thats just his salary!
I fucking love Ben
£5,000 a week is such a good salary for anyone. The fact that they demand such ludicrous salaries now, £200k, £300k+ per week is crazy. I know it will never happen but limiting salaries and making teams reinvest a percentage of their income every year to local projects would be so beneficial. And it would stop greedy owners like the Glazers taking teams for a ride and wanting £6bn for the club.
I think it's okay when they're good, they can get salary £200k-300k per week because revenue they bring. We talk about people who practice from young age, don't get their degree like other people because they spend their childhood to practice, have to watch what they eat, can't do anything they want freely, can't go out side like every body else, even when they want to go vacation they can't go to usual place and usual accommodation because it's not save. They have to spend more for their safety in every aspect.
Also they can't do their job for the rest of their life, for most professional it's 40 years old max. They have to save and invest for themselves and their family. Also many footballers give their money to charity and community
Having a salary cap is literally the dream of greedy owners like the Glazers. All it would mean would be that instead of having to pay the players they just get to pocket all that money themselves. That's why all the american sports are set up that way to guarantee the billionaire owners massive profits regardless of the team's performance.
@@danglyde8680 you know not all owners like glazers right?
Also I think the good footballers deserve their pay
I hope you realised he was talking about £5000 in 2005.
Great players earn the most money, the deserve to be paid a lot of they bring in a lot of money. It's only a problem if average players get paid astronomical wages.
Ben Foster is a beast.
That’s a hair do of the highest level!! 😂
One of the most genuine out there by a country mile, turned down newcastle and then joined Wrexham, not in it for the money at all consummate professional 👍👍
He has stated he would’ve joined Newcastle if they gave him his demands (which was loads of money) but in fairness he only did it because he never wanted to join in the first place.
@@ekzxty they actually agreed to it but turned it down because he would have had to move away from his family
5k a year probably 20 years ago is nearly double today

@@cheesybellend6842 its all relative.....
@David Montgomery a mean it’s not tho the average wage was like 200 quid back then and house prices were a less than half than what they are now so it’s not double at all

Ryan Giggs knew all about that temptation
He was getting that career mode money
5k a WEEK?

I would take a grand a week tor sitting on the bench watching top quality football 😂

Wasn't too long ago when 5 grand a week was considered excessive. Now the average is 60k a week in premier league.
I get pressure from like the whole country and you make one mistake people remember you for life. But being a footballer must be soo good
I suppose but you do need to take care of yourself plan diets workout do alot of graft before you even kick a ball. Not to mention you have to be a goody two shoes otherwise everybody knows your dirty laundry
You understand these mens entire lives are ravaged by their career. You get a few hours to relax a day, and if you’re a national player maybe you’ll get a 2 week vacation from the game in your whole year. Not to mention only the best players are paid anything substantial
@@levicohen7333 yea it's rough especially if you don't make it big. It's not exactly a easy job

Foster earned 190k per game in his first season at United
Rooney was settled and the carnage still happened 😂😂😂 later in life if anything
Phil Jones is still on that 😂😂
Nope. Gone
That’s what makes me laugh how some footballers can still be so gready and money-driven. I mean what difference does it make earning an extra £20k a week when you’re already on £100k+. It’s just ridiculous. I know myself and the vast majority or people would be absolutely over the moon to be playing football for £5k a week.
I had a bad feeling about that Lee guy since his first appearance. Can’t say my opinion on him has changed much since
Honestly as much as I love football, the money these guys do be getting paid is ridiculous. Look at the reported 400 million a year Messi was offered. We have many people dying of hunger etc around the world, we’ve many homeless etc. Our doctors and nurses, fire personal, are people who may very well save said footballers life one day. They get paid a fraction that these lads get paid, for kicking a ball around. It’s the sad world we live in unfortunately.
Yes, so sad... compared to all the other times in history when things were fairer
I was settled 🤣 dead on Ben
Most people don’t even get £600 a week now never mind 20 year ago, quality Ben!
Wonder if Foster will mention he doesn’t get much playing for Wrexham..he does at every other opportunity
When the Arab money came in, a cheeky 18 year old young fella name Big Meeks went from 5k per week to 50k.
50k per week at 18 !!
Do you have any idea how much 5k a week is doing something you love? Lol madness. Pay be 1k a week mate. Bills sorted, wife happy and I’ll go kick that ball about
You have to be good at football sadly
Foster always likes to let you know how much he has been on,but he tries putting it across in a nice way
Most people can't imagine 5 grand a week. Perhaps not best person in the world to start comparing wealth.
5k a week back then, probably is the equivalent of 50k today
Ben Foster a real one
I like the sound of this guy

My first big deal when I played for palace was £23,000 a week. Believe me when you're young, free and single earning that sort of money it gets mad like proper mad. Most professional footballers don't get paid monthly. They get paid in installments each year. Sometimes quarterly or half yearly or annually. I used to deal with a few players from a club I won't name and their girlfriends. They would bring in wage slips and it would be one payment over 3-6 months usually.
Don’t they get paid weekly ?
@@tyrellking6332In England, yes.
I kind of feel like keepers are less likely to go off the rails too, so maybe the wrong player to ask 😁
Keepers get paid shit money, we'll used to
That 5k a week is luxury money if you don't spend lavishly at first, that's 20k a month. It's good money.
Didn't realise tubez was part of this podcast, won't be watching again
5k.a week. It was just a couple of seasons ago where we had Henderson as backup on what? 100k a week?? Then we wonder why we can't sell anyone lol
That's crazy how he came to quintuple his salary one day to the other being a keeper. I can only imagine how it must be for a young good striker and yeah it mus be life changing
£600 to £5,000 - just over *octupled. 🤓

Getting the right advice would be super hard too. This is the time in your life where you should learn good sound habits with money. Buy a house cash. Save your money. Nurture good happy relationships. But how many do that?
The advice isn't hard to get, and what you should do with your money is obvious. It's just footballers, are hyped up from the age of 10 until they make it. They live a different life to regular folk from a oung age
5k a month means ppl see you as a God in Montenegro
Nowadays avg premier league salary is 66k per week
5 grand a week is big money. But in terms of footballers these days doesn’t seem much
Foster moved to united in 2005, so....
Can't even dream of earning half of that money
For me They need to stop paying astronomical wages, and the transfer market prices are border line ridiculous.
That’s the price of the premier league earning crazy amounts of money for tv deals etc. i agree they are ridiculous though and sometimes look like money laundering

I have after 2 decades of hard work began to earn 4-5k a week (which is great of course). Regardless, I am not settling & will still attempt to improve on these figures for next year
Your average PL player now would be disappointed with 5k a week!
I think 99% of the country would be happy with 5k a week now!
5k a week is still over 250k a year😂 hardly a bad wage. The wages we see these days are ridiculous and massively ott.
If I saw 600k a month go into my account I wouldn’t know what to do . How hard must it be not just go buy a car every month
Don’t forget your bonuses and sponsor money.
Really doesn’t sound hard to not go spending like crazy..

Sanch 350,000
Now youth players get that
I would have died from OD
Ronaldo could pay his salary…
There's no way he was on £10 million a year. And it was way back in the late 2000s too
He didn’t say he was… he said imagine. Because there’s players on 10 mil a year.
Tbh no one was on 10 million a year at Manchester United under Sir Alex. Maybe right at the end of his career
Buy your mate a decent haircut Ben. You can afford it if he can't.
Young players shouldn't receive big wages from clubs, their pay should be put in escrow for them or invested to give them stability. They could end up wasting it or betting it away, like so many ex-pros do.
Bosh
And now even bang average players are getting obscene sums without achieving anything, look at the 70s and 80s, some of those players must be sick the money wasn’t in the game then.
