I get ribbed when I pick out things out in shows episodes.. 😂... But this something that I'll have to remember this for future trivia contests!!! Thanks for pointing this out.. this was great!!! 😅😅
No, I did not notice this. Good job! It was most likely a member of the crew. Most likely there were multiple takes taken of this shot and this one was the best. So, even with the cigarette, it was used.
🥥I believe it was Gilligan's I mean Bob Denvers cigarette Rick. Not only that but you can also spot Bob Denvers wedding ring in many scenes too LOL!🚬💍🏝🛥
thanks for catching that blooper bob denver saw it and tried to cover it up so the camera wouldn't catch it if I ever watch that episode again I'll watch for it.
Your keen eye reveals that extra something no one else does! This is a very good observation!! It really is amusing to think how often people (including myself)have watched this episode and missed it! Great work as usual!
I always love your videos. Great insight always. You know. I know this show did not make much money for the actors. However the laughs it provided to millions of people are priceless.
Rick I love your channel! I love the concept and watch all of the classics that you cover most often, so hearing what you have uncovered about these shows is really fun for me. Keep up the great work!
Great catch 🚬😄 Also, I have all the I love Lucy episodes and love watching them on my iPad, as I can catch so many things that you really wouldn’t be able to catch on the TV. For instance… the episode where Lucy buys new furniture and hides it in the kitchen, with Ethel’s help of course😄 When Ricky figures it out after her 3rd trip through the mertz’s apt and into her kitchen .. when Ricky is hiding behind the kitchen door and scares her 🤭 she decides to get to the living room by going through the opening of the kitchen nook window.. as she steps on the desk and then the chair and gets over to the fireplace .. you can clearly see the hardware where they buckled down the desk and the chair so Lucy and Desi wouldn’t fall. I’m sure a lot of you Lucy fans have caught that too 🤗 just thought I’d share to the ones who haven’t 🤗 Have a beautiful day Rick and all of you ❤
Everyone smoked back then. You will see quite often Andy Griffith light up in the Sheriff's Offfice. Ralph Kramden also smoked Cigarettes and Cigars in the show. Columbo would light up anywhere he pleased annoying everyone around him. At the time, smoking was considered harmless and they even had commercials of doctors promoting their favorite brand of cigarettes.. Now we have cell phones as considered harmless...? 🤔
It’s always cool to spot some things that aren’t totally obvious to notice. Thank you for the video Rick, I hope you’re doing well. Keep up the great work and take care!
Keeping in mind the dozens of random people that have "just accidentally" stumbled onto the island, I can see where (in theory) that it could've been there.
Rick there is a program called Collector's Choice and this Sunday it is going to be about an extensive and elaborate I Love Lucy collection. Wish I had thought to tell you earlier. I am not sure what network but maybe you can locate it!
There's a scene in Star Trek "Journey to Babel" where McCoy is operating on Sarak. You can see smoke rising from the body (behind the gizmo box) -- so, either Vulcan blood really does burn... OR DeForrest Kelley needed a butt between takes.
Just a thought or deduction about mentioning that the characters didn't smoke: If any of them did, he/she would run out of cigarettes and not be smoking after a limited number of episodes--unless of course one of the 'guests' who always arrives on the island would happen to bring some cigarettes. Keen eye though, rick nineg
Hey Rick, Gilligan's Island is one of my favorite shows from the sixties as well. I've seen this episode many times & I never noticed that cigarette butt until now!!! Great catch my friend, thanks for pointing it out, you can be sure that next time I see this episode, I will notice that butt!!! 👍👍🙂
I certainly didn't notice any of these bloopers back in the 60's and 70's on a 19" CRT screen viewed from across the a room; I think in 480 resolution. I did re-watch the series recently though in HD and I've noted several of the bloopers you've shown on your show even still across the room but on my LCD. It's funny how they probably didn't think too much about such things 'back in the day'. Of course, Ginger is even more beautiful in HD, by the way. There's my vote on that one. :D
Wow, never noticed that, but you can see why they wouldn’t allow them on set, I mean, where would they get them from? You wouldn’t grab a Carton of cigarettes for a three hour tour, lol! I’m wondering if it was Bob’s smoke? Can you imagine his thoughts, landing on a cigarette butt, “oh crap, I better hide that so I don’t have to do this scene over!”
Never noticed the butt, great eye! Who's it was is hard to say, could be anyone on set even the boom mic operator. Interesting tid bits on this channel!!
i have the show on DVD and all the episodes were digitally remastered far better than it looked on colored tv back it the 60s and 70s and when reruns were on local stations. the show had those grainy edited films the stations ran on tv
Just reinforces my opinion of smokers. They just don't care about others. At my work we have a designated smoking shelter (pacific north west). At an intersection of 2 sidewalks between the main door and the shelter someone tosses butts into the landscaping. I even saw the mulch at a Big M drive through catch fire from a lit cigarette butt carelessly tossed.
Between takes they would have had to smooth out the sand, I think it's more likely that it was a crew member that dropped the cigarette just because I don't think the actors, especially Bob Denver, would've been careless enough to drop it in an area that they knew was going to be in the shot.
Actually they wouldn't be able to smoke on the island. Without the ability to grow tobacco they couldn't keep up the use of it. Plus they'd either need papers or somehow make a pipe. So a butt is definitely a huge blooper.
Bob covering the cigarette butt is probably the only moment of on-camera "realness" in the series. It's cool too see - but a little strange too - like breaking the 4th wall of the fantasy world 😎👍
Not sure if you ever noticed this. Gilligan's Island S2E21 opening scene where Gilligan is washing clothes. It looks like a person is in the washing machine pushing laundry against the window.
@@ricknineg How about High School High which was a tv movie (1983) with an all star cast! Bob Denver, Michael J. Fox, Todd Bridges, Crystal Bernard, Dana Plato, Nancy McKean, Anthony Ewards, Dawn Wells, Ken Osmond and Dawyne Hickman, Lauri Hendler and Crispin Glover to name a few. Don't think it was none of the actors. I don't think any of the actors would place it there. Could have been there a few days. Someone walking thru the sound stage.
Ironic this video is released about a week after I contacted you in the comments about this exact scene. It would be nice if you would actually give credit to your viewers for spotting things like this and passing it along to you. Because I am the one that sent you that information. Regards PS: If anybody questions this, just go view the Mary Ann's Moments video in his Gilligan's island series (2.1m views) and you'll see my posting. As of today it was dated 6 days ago.
you need a reality check Marlene the island was in a backlot of a tv/movie studio and some scenes were shot on a soundstage you can tell by the lighting and the backdrop.
@ @johnverley Haha 😄 Okay 👍 Yes! Just joking. I do know the difference. It's fun to think it was on an Island 🏝 And Bonanza is real. And even the animated Flintstones. Hehe! 😁
Gilligan picked a female gorilla, explaining that "only a native born on the island" should be considered as the winner. However, the contest was for Miss Castaway (and the gorilla wasn't a castaway)... gee, let's all overthink!!🤭
Wow, I mean kinda everyone smoked back then but I never would have guessed Denver or Skipper would! Didn't hear in their voices (Professor u can). What an Easter egg! After 50 years of watching I never noticed😮
Bob was a heavy smoker. Also, this was back in the days where sand was used in ash trays at both public and private places.
The sand used in ash trays I think was to keep the unsanitary smell of cigarette smoke hidden
One my favorite shows as well Rick love this episode Mary Ann was my vote when it came to the beauty
This is hilarious!!!! He who covered it - smoked it!!!!
😆
Butt…butt…butt…”everyone” smoked back then. It could have been anyone. There were butts everywhere! 😂🤣 Fun catch, Rick!
@Sally N Not only the cigarette butt but also his wedding ring which appears in many scenes🔍when you look closely LOL!🚬💍🏝🛥
So glad that cigarette smoking is now the exception, not the rule.
Lol!😂 I don’t remember seeing a cigarette butt in the sand Rick . Thank you, what a blooper to catch❤

Great find, Rick! I love how you point these interesting bloopers out. I like your theory too, that it was most likely Bob Denver’s 👍🏼
I just watched that about 5 days ago and missed it. Have to back and see that again.
Thanks for that Rick.
They used sand in ashtrays back in those days. I think they used recycled sand.
Great catch 🚬😄

I think the cigarette butt was Bob's. It could have also been a marker to make sure he landed in the right spot. What a great find on your part.
Dawn Wells was so pretty!😊

That’s wild! Too bad Bob didn’t fall on his butt in that scene as the irony would have been too much! Thanks for another great video Rick!

Rick, you should have the nickname columbo. Nothing gets past detective rick!
In the old standard definition TV days, that would not have been clearly visible, if at all visible.
Never noticed the butt, great eye! Who's it was is hard to say, could be anyone on set even the boom mic operator. Interesting tid bits on this channel!!
Color TV was excellent in those days. I noticed how sharp and bright everything was on those old shows.
i have the show on DVD and all the episodes were digitally remastered far better than it looked on colored tv back it the 60s and 70s and when reruns were on local stations. the show had those grainy edited films the stations ran on tv

Wow, Rick! I can't believe you just showed everybody Gilligan's butt!
All these years I thought it was a used tampon, a.k.a. a “Transylvania Tea Bag”…

At an intersection of 2 sidewalks between the main door and the shelter someone tosses butts into the landscaping. At least the mystery smoker had the good sense to toss it into the sand and not that flammable looking dried brush behind it! Haha!
You got that right!
I think we probably did see it but didn't pay it any mind because smoking was so prevalent back then that it just didn't seem out of place.
Very cool! More
Never noticed it i just enjoyed watching
DOH!
Bob Denver was a heavy smoker, and died after treatment for throat cancer. So the "butt" was probably his...
Great video!
🙏
Giinger has my vote for the prettiest one.
I think it was the person who repositioned the bamboo stick.
maybe it belonged to Wrong Way Feldman
Unless the castaways took years worth of cigarettes on the 3 hour tour, they would have run out of smokes in the first day or two.
That's hilarious!
I think it was Jungle Boy’s cigarette (Jungle Boy was portrayed by Hollywood BadAss, Kurt Russell!!)
@billbrock8740 Jungle Boy aka Kurt Russell who is not married to Goldie Hawn was in a season 1 only episode which was filmed in black and white. 🏝🥥🚤
Between takes they would have had to smooth out the sand, I think it's more likely that it was a crew member that dropped the cigarette just because I don't think the actors, especially Bob Denver, would've been careless enough to drop it in an area that they knew was going to be in the shot.

Forget the cigarette butt, Mary Ann is the clear cut winner.
smokin in the boys room!
