    This was a good and very informative video! I have an interview with my dream school in two weeks and the email stated I'll have a writing assessment. Do you have any tips on how I should prepare for that? TIA

    • @sandraonabudget
      @sandraonabudget  Год назад

      I'm glad I could help. I didnt have to do a writing assessment, so I don't know personally what is helpful, but I think it's important to know that generally your school is looking to make sure you're prepared, not that you excel. Being amazing is great, but they're likely looking that you can write in a professional voice quickly. You got it! good luck!

    you have any advice for someone who is writing their personal statement for OT School?

    • @sandraonabudget
      @sandraonabudget  Год назад +1

      The best personal statements I’ve read give a fuller picture to other parts of the application. If there’s a prompt, it’s a bit easier to do- but otherwise I would focus on
      1. Highlighting your accomplishments
      -any awards, scholarship, or leadership are most likely listed somewhere in your application so you can spend more time in a personal statement talking about the work that went into these accomplishments, what it meant to you, and how it shaped you. It’s also probably not necessary to talk about everything- just what’s most important
      2. What the specific OT school means to you
      -I applied largely based on geography, I wanted to be in Colorado because of my support system and hobbies, and was looking for a program that could give me the best education and quality of like. Explaining how the schools I was applying to aligned with this goal allowed me to explain a bit of what mattered to me. Maybe you’re looking for a school with a focus on the niche you’re interested in (pediatrics, neuro etc.) or a school that has connections to certain hospitals etc.
      3. Opposite to the first, explain your hardships AND HOW YOU OVERCAME
      -bad grades but you learned how to study? Great explain it. Not a lot of shadowing hours because of COVID? Great explain it.
      4. Be honest. You don’t need to add fluff or over exaggerate yourself, just be candid about your life experiences and how they got you to the point of applying to school.
      Hopefully that’s helpful! And since I just wrote half an outline maybe you’ll a full video from me on this soon 😂

    I bet a million bucks you wont give me an answer, question how many hours a day do you actually sit in OTD school, 9-12 and lunch break, then return 1pm -3 pm, what are the hours, your best guess.

      Hi Matt- I know I did a video where I measured how much time I spent on OT school in a week. I was in a hybrid program so my days varied a lot, and of course it changes semester to semester, but I spent about 40 hours a week on school in general- it was a very sedentary few years

    How long it's take to study OT? 😮

    • @sandraonabudget
      @sandraonabudget  Год назад +3

      My program is 3 years after 4 years of undergraduate education. This is for a doctorate. Masters programs are around 18 months- 2 years after undergraduate
