It amazes me the resolve and strength of the first people who initiate a true spontaneous flash mob experience. They have to have an enormous degree of fortitude at the beginning in order for the whole thing to be able to progress into a genuine experience that is shared. I do not have such fortitude.
+That Commenter Who Is Hated For No Reason Not special anymore? Ignore it? Ya we've all seen a lot of them on the internet but how many have you seen happening right in front of you? Because for me it's zero. Pretty sure I would stop and watch rather than ignore them unless I'm going somewhere especially important.
My family is constantly bursting out into song It's fun so I don't see why it isn't normal I think that if it makes you feel good you should do what you want and not let other judge you.
Daniel Russell Doesn't really matter much, but I was subbed to this channel pretty early on...can look at my account creation date. (It's like Jan. of '06) Anyway, there were flash mob videos already going on really. This video was released in '08 and they had already uploaded plenty of other flash mob stuff before this one even came out.
LucidDream Hmm.. I thought this happened before '08.. can't explain that upload date though. Perhaps you're right. EDIT: I'm wrong. And Wikipedia claims the first was in 2003 in a Macy's store: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_mob
I know, right? I'm coming back to watch them again, because I wish there was more (or people reacting to these), but there isn't, so this is all I can get... Imo this channel is one of the biggest examples of squandered potential, and it just makes me sad. They could do so much with these concepts, and go really mainstream, but they just upload so rarely, and seem to avoid the large scale high concept videos that could really make an impact. I'm still holding out hope for the future, but it's not very strong.
And how is that bad? No, seriously. People that say "don't film something that you like, live it" are starting to annoy me. Like, I can do both. I can live the experience *and* film it because it was awesome and watch it whenever I like in the future. Memories fade. No matter how awesome they are. Videos stay forever and you can watch them again and again without the fear of missing something because you forgot about it. Plus, I don't have to stare at the screen the whole time I'm filming something. It's not that hard with peripheral vision.
I first saw this as a kid in like 2012 and then I used to watch this channel all the time. As I got older I stopped idky but I did. this is the one song that still plays in my head every now n then and I just rewatched it for the first time in soooo long and I can say it definitely still holds up to my memories of watching it as a kid that is for sure 🤣🤣😭😭
"12 YEARS AGO"??? REALLY??? Goddamn, am I that old??? I remember seeing this as a teenager and thinking this was the coolest shit ever... I see not much has changed since then tbh lol
He was the working man everyone ignored, and all he wanted was to not be ignored and show the world he could dance. And they cut the dance.....THEY CUT THE DANCE! Cold!
To me, this is the best flash mob ever! Totally unexpected and people were surprised by each new person who sang, probably because they were all different types of people, some supposedly working. When it was all over, they went back to what they were doing. Most 'flash mobs' today are just a bunch of people who suddenly jump up and dance or occasionally sing all together, usually facing the one direction. It's not too hard to guess who's going to join in because it's mostly all young people.
Omg this is the first video I’ve ever seen without obnoxious “2020?” and such so I got excited ... only to realize it’s probably because not many people are watching it now...*sniff*
3:20 It's so strange to think that this girl is now 13 years older........ I feel so old now. And after all these years I still know the whole song by heart.
"I am the janitor, the man that you all ignore" This dude is my spirit animal
I totally thought he said adore...
memes are life he said Ignore. As he said it the other singers turned their backs on him
Max same
I'm not a janitor but I am ignored...
It took my classmates over half the year to figure out I was in their class...
Max Yessssssss
This, to me, is the true meaning of a flash mob - not a bunch of people running out and doing a line dance.
+Kerensa Birch
It's either dance or dance and sing. It's obvious what's better.
Diablos,Thats not true, Improv Everywhere did all kinds of flashmob, nowadays its almost all music and or sing.
Ever seen Frozen Grand Central?
That one was brilliant!
I love how they all applauded even though throughout the whole time they looked really annoyed
I would've been stoked lol
Less likely everyone is annoyed (maybe deviant)
I don't think they were annoyed....they were just like "wtf is going on?!"
It amazes me the resolve and strength of the first people who initiate a true spontaneous flash mob experience. They have to have an enormous degree of fortitude at the beginning in order for the whole thing to be able to progress into a genuine experience that is shared. I do not have such fortitude.
They also need to have rehearsed it quite a lot too.
Indeed! Probably an ESFP or ENFP personality :-)
I agree.
8 years later and the janitor still gets me!
Ten years later and the janitor has me playing that part over and over again laughing the whole time.
11 years later it still gets me as well
Before he started singing, he looks like the people who were annoyed and irritated by the singing
13 years later and 6 since you posted this, and that Janitor is still a legend.
This needs to just happen normally. Like in everyday life.
Billybo10000 so that it's not special anymore and people will just ignore it because they have a lot of things to do for their everyday life
Drea Kelly Stark Well that's the negative side of it, but on the positive side, singing and fabulousness will reign supreme!
Billybo10000 well generation is fucked up now so this is better than fuck, twerking, booty and boobs. Humanity need this
+That Commenter Who Is Hated For No Reason

yes!!
i just love how everyone's holding out their napkins like "here's a napkin *_NOW MAKE IT STOP_*"
That security guard doe
THAT JANITOR HAS SOME VOICE
I want to live in a world where spontaneous musical is considered normal
I.e. Disney...
Glee LOL
My family is constantly bursting out into song
It's fun so I don't see why it isn't normal
I think that if it makes you feel good you should do what you want and not let other judge you.
so u live in the buffy episode once more with feeling?
rayblack2004 a
I hate how the people just look really annoyed and unimpressed. It's like there's no happiness left in their lives.
Ditto
They are eating at a shitty foodcourt, how much joy could they have?
They need their napkins.
Lol yeah
@@bananian indeed
i really love the janitor
the little girl at the end was thinking "am i in a Disney musical?"
I still spontaneously sing this song whenever someone asks for a napkin.
It's stuck in my head for 15years.
Same! I first saw this in 2008.😅
I think this was the birth of Flashmobs, right? Because before this came out, there were none I had seen, then after this, it became a "thing."
Daniel Russell Who cares, I just saw it now, and I'm fucking crying... so good...for this world.

Daniel Russell At the time though, I admired this channel because they were so professional about it and often creative. I think they set a standard.
LucidDream This is the Dream of the Internet: bringing humanity together through playfulness.
Some of me really wishes this happend every time i go somewhere.
Still so good all these many years later. I wish they did more of these!
I know, right? I'm coming back to watch them again, because I wish there was more (or people reacting to these), but there isn't, so this is all I can get...

I love the looks in their faces like "wtf?"
If this happened in 2015 everyone would be snap chatting it
+Ramla Warsame so true
lol exactly
Ramla Warsame 2017
it's 2018 dude and everyone are snapgram it
And how is that bad? No, seriously. People that say "don't film something that you like, live it" are starting to annoy me. Like, I can do both. The janitor and security crack me up EVERYTIME! XD
I remember just loving this as a kid. crazy how quick it went
More spontaneous musicals, please!!!! The people who write these are so talented!!!
Every now and then this song pops in my head and here I am again.
I am Japanese so I am sorry for my poor English ,but to see this channel is always made me to feel comfortable . This is my mental therapy.
REALLY???
Goddamn, am I that old??? I remember seeing this as a teenager and thinking this was the coolest shit ever...
I see not much has changed since then tbh lol
By far the most wholesome prank I've ever seen 💛🧡
wtf was wrong with those people walking out at the beginning? They just barge right through the dancing... what was there no other place to leave?
They were like f*** this s***, we out
TO be fair, they have every right to get on with their business.
16 years?! I feel like I just watched this!
can they get a napkin tho?
I watched this video like 8 years ago, and I still sing this song all the time.
He was the working man everyone ignored, and all he wanted was to not be ignored and show the world he could dance.
And they cut the dance.....THEY CUT THE DANCE!
Cold!
Is that random frustrated guy going "Yes you can have a napkin!" part of the song?
Lol I only came into the comments to find out the same thing
It's not part of the musical
+Linny Crocus Yep and he is also the founder of Improv Everywhere,Charlie Todd.....
I think they mean the guy @ 2:56
LMAO I don't think so, he DEFINITELY looks genuinely annoyed/confused/pissed all at once.
I'M THE JANITOR. Best part xD. It's been so long since I've seen this but it still makes me laugh so hard
security: comes in
everybody: shits about to go down
security: *sings
everybody: ಠ_ಠ
2:56 "YES! You can have a napkin!" LMFAO
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I used to watch this all the time.
come to London guys!!! you'll blow these people away!!!
I feel like 2020 needs the rebirth of the spontaneous musical
To me, this is the best flash mob ever! Totally unexpected and people were surprised by each new person who sang, probably because they were all different types of people, some supposedly working. wow video is almost 16 years, makes me feel old
Anyone watching this in 2023? 😂 I felt like watching this again.
Everyones sitting there going "uhhhhh" I loved that guy that threw the napkin and the janitor was the best singer, and hot too
Another proof that Heather Anne Campbell is one of the most talented women on this planet!!
Omg this is the first video I’ve ever seen without obnoxious “2020?” and such so I got excited ... only to realize it’s probably because not many people are watching it now...*sniff*
0:50 a man with a mustache singing about mustard? JOHN LENNON!
I see I'm not The only one that liked the janitor, lol
This pleases me.
Glad this video is still here! Always a pleasure to watch again.
Imagine being high and this happens 😂😂

I luv this, and always have fantasized about doing something like this in public! Right on! Lil hugs xo
Many of these people seem to be really humourless... It's a shame.
black dudes face @3:11 hilarious
3:20 It was all worth it just for that.
I love the people enjoying the show while eating
I spilled a big mac on my pants. Can I get a napkin please?
Disney stole this idea, it's called Frozen.
Guys I just found out the lemonade girl is Heather Anne Campbell from Whose Line!!!
Wow! Just Amazing. Absolutely BRILLIANT!

And after all these years I still know the whole song by heart.
2021, anyone?
I wasn't completely sure, but I think they needed a napkin...
this is the west covina mall right?
I loved how you did the intro like a secret agent's next mission. Awesome job.
When a random person suddenly joins them...
Is there actual music playing when they're doing these, or are people just randomly singing on their own? XD
there is music that starts playing randomly XD
The music is playing at the food court too.
Must have been awkward as fuck if u start singing...
My brother showed me this years ago and I come here to remember that day.....he passed away
