Hey, if Lume works for you, that's great! What's not so great is that I was looking for my regular deodorant in the store yesterday, and couldn't find it. Apparently, Lume and Lume-type products are all the rage at the moment, and the deodorant that I like has been discontinued. Whatever happened to choices? Some of us don't want to jump on every bandwagon that rolls along. JMHO
@@vonbook1973 if I'm staying home for the day, or just running a quick errand, no. The whole point in taking a shower is to get clean. I rarely take a shower before I go out for the day/night, if I do that then I will put deodorant on. But I also put body splash or perfume (depending on where I go), or scented lotion (or both). I don't take showers in the morning, I take them after work and on weekends.
@@vonbook1973 That's what I've been trying to figure out reading through these comments. Even if it's Crystal, glycolic acid, or something natural, they don't have to put on ANYTHING at least under their armpits?
The maker of Lume is an OB/ Gyn. This was created in response to pts asking her about their own odor. It's a very personal thing. If you don't care how you smell, dont use it. Some people like it, some don't. That's why there's choice.
One of Lume's most viral ads tells the story of a sick little girl who had to take a medication that gave her such a strong odor her parents almost had to take her out of school because she was literally changing clothes in the middle of the school day and it still wasnt enough. Lume is specially formulated to be antibacterial and doesn't have cancerous aluminum in it
There was a campaign back in the day with the slogan, “More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette.” - Common sense isn't common. The average medical and human historical advice is to wash your body. The average gynecologist says not to put anything down there. It's sad this woman is putting people at risk for her own gain. She probably doesn't even use this product herself...
Most of us already use body lotions, sunblock, etc. More chemicals hardly seem a good idea. Bathing and an underarm antiperspirant stops you from stinking. A deodorant, which this is, merely masks odor. If you want to smell like something, buy a nice perfume. But i find this tragic tendency to put scent in everything from shampoos to laundry soaps is already conflicting odors and counterproductive. Personally i smell EVERY new product i buy. Many of them stink, and linger unpleasantly. I ALWAYS look for unscented EVERYTHING. Trust me industrial created scents can be pretty ghastly. They are NOT perfume. There's a huge difference between a smell and A GOOD SMELL. Stick with perfume, an unscented antiperspirant. And BATHE.
@@vonbook1973 Most chemical compounds have an odor of some sort. Initially most scents added to pharmacy items and household cleaners were designed to mask those odors, giving rise to "scented" products. But chemistry has come along way since then, both in the quality of these products, as well as their inherent odors. Which now, many are mild enough to be relatively inoffensive, nearly unnoticeable, in a world that already has many mild odors, you no longer notice. After a certain point the brain stops noticing many daily backround smells. I'm sure you've left your home at some point, for at least a week or two...only to walk in the door and be hit by an odor, not always good, that you no longer noticed. For awhile many products went scent crazy...until some customers started complaining bitterly. Now most put out "unscented" versions, though i smell these too just in case. Still there's no question that the use of mutiple products...and who doesn't use at least a small assortment of these, everything from shampoo and conditioner, soaps, antiperspirant, various skin creams, for face, body, sun block, self tanners etc, can easily leave you smelling more like a chemical factory than a person, if you're not careful. Multiple added scents don't help either. I find this product completely unnessary and a shameless attempt to pry more money out of the consumer, by creating a fake "need". And i suggested that another layer of chemicals, may be one odd smell of a diifferent sort too many. And i should have added it might be counterproductive with the beauty products...(and there are many good ones out there), that you are already using. A drying agent for example, isn't something you want to use with a moisturizer. And they suggest you use this EVERYWHERE. Of course they do$$$. You seem to be genuinely offended by perfume. I never said anyone had to. But if you are spending your cold hard cash for a certain scent you love, having every product you're using have it's own distinct OTHER odor, is going to be pointless. A strong smelling laundry soap, offering a selection of smells, can be particularly dumb, when you're hoping to smell like Chanel # 5. But babe, there ARE good smells and bad smells. And if a desireable perfume scent was that easy or cheap to make, companies wouldn't have offended so many customers with the stinks they add to products. To mask an odor that didn't smell anywhere near that bad. Obviously different isn't necessarily better. And less is sometimes more.
@@Brainjoy01 Babe, enough with the PC. You're saying this is for clinically obese people who sweat. The overlapping fat makes places, nooks and crannies, no one else even has. But then, isn't that what an enabler does, along with bringing them food they are now incapable of getting themselves ??? So sad when the only way you can have a friend is by imprisoning them in fat... But no. This product is for the super finicky with bucks$$...who are now thinking of my god, do i smell and not know this ??? The answer is no, babe, you don't. She just wants your money.
So crazy, I've been around a long time and don't think I've ever been out in public around other people in any situation and noticed a smell coming from their "private parts" and thought they could use some "full body " deodorant".
Is an amazing gorilla campaign, isn't it?! Suddenly only this newest generation of marketing executives have discovered a previously unheard if and un treatable head to toe stink!
On a radio show, the traffic reporter mentioned being at a party or restaurant in a seated position. A young woman stood very close by who apparently didn't wash up too regularly. It was disgusting to hear about and so wish I could erase it from memory. Some people are clueless about hygiene and think it's OK to transfer this habit into another culture, but those are extreme examples. These ads are messing with people's minds, creating a near. neurosis where none previously existed.
I remember back in the 70’s FDS ( feminine deodorant spray) was marketed for “everywhere” basically the hoo hoo, and there was such a negative backlash it was gone within a year or so. It was dangerous with chemicals and an affront to the common sense of women.
Personally, when I hit menopause, different parts of my body started to smell funky that never used to - despite one or more daily showers. Lumi whole body deodorant definitely makes me less self conscious at the gym than I used to be with just regular armpit deodorant.
Humans do not have a good sense of smell. Basic hygiene will keep human body odor to a level that other humans will not notice it. Take a shower every day (and again after heavy physical activity that causes sweating) and put on clean clothes every day after using underarm deodorant. And change those feminine hygiene pads multiple times a day. That should be enough. If it is not enough, then something is wrong medically -- see your physician about this.
Marketing execs are fully aware that preying on people's fears or tapping into their sentimentality is what ultimately draws people to purchase the products being peddled to them.
@@tinytt854 ... You really believe only those under thirty succumb to marketing's BS ? Just look at the personal debt load of Americans and the amount of possessions we've accumulated at all ages.... it's very telling.
You probably don't need full body deodorant, but as a person with hyperhidrosis, I love it. It SUCKS to be so self conscious about being damp that you avoid hand-shakes. The LUME product absolutely helps with that. That said I stopped using it as my main deodorant, it seems to hold a body odor scent in the clothing even after wash. It's fine when wearing but I prefer my usual.
They literally just highlighted the fact that it's only a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. So how does it stop your hands from being damp, exactly? 🤦♂️
Ok, so this product works really well and isn't an antiperspirant. It uses Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) to take care of the bacteria that makes bad BO. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to AHA, so it caused severe itching and pain that took months to get over. Had to switch deoderant, one that's more natural but needs reapplied multiple times in the day. Beats severely irritated skin though!
@@DivineLightPaladin A lot of the natural products have things that I'm allergic to in them. So far, Lume has not triggered those effects for me. The ingredient list doesn't look too bad either. I think it has arrowroot powder in it, actually, referencing your other comment there.
@@handlesshouldntdefaulttonamesTaking a good quality liquid chlorophyll supplement daily works from the inside & makes you not even need to use deodorants.
@@handlesshouldntdefaulttonames true we can still have allergies to natural ones, it helps if they have fewer ingredients. Glad you've found one that works and hey Thanks for checking that, it was a wild guess from my other products!
Since the first time I saw one of these commercials, I thought it was a scam. If you're having problems with severe body odor, see a doctor or rethink your hygiene habits. My OB/GYN has NEVER recommended using products on private parts unless there was a real issue. The human body generally knows how to operate. Of course, I don't use perfume either as I find the smell irritating. Our odor is also a key in attracting a mate. You know, basic animal attraction.
Sorry, I don't wish to smell like I'm from Paleolithic times, nor do I want a guy who smells like that, natural or not. You don't have to have issues to need a little extra odor care. Aging/menopause, hot climates, etc. can also make people smell a little funky, even without the presence of a medical condition or infection. No one is making you use these products, but if they make someone else feel better about themselves, what do you care?
@user-vl8qw8hp1g And that's what we need to realize. In most cases, it's normal, natural and as long as you're not too offensive with your odor, it's acceptable.
I have blocked the Lume ad at least 15 times on youtube alone. I finally had to report it to google as spam and eventually I stopped getting them. that doctor has some ad budget.
Google really needs to let people block a company outright. There's one company with literally 300 ads. The powers that be aren't getting the hint after I've blocked about 20.

This product is for large people. The inside of skin folds can smell. And deodorant has a baby powder like quality, so it would help with chaffing and rashes. It is marketed to everyone, so it doesn't ostracize the target market.
I really disagree with you. I am far from being so overweight that I need this, but I sweat at the drop of a hat and profusely. I go through products because they just stop working for me after awhile. SOME people just need it, not just overweight people.
You can make more money on a product if you can come up with additional uses to cause more of that product to be used. An ad campaign to worry those into thinking they may stink in other body areas besides their arm pits can be particularly effective. If it wasn’t effective, we’d see those ads disappear. 😸
She say it very clear , for some that have a strong odor it helps. But not Every person NEEDS this ! They promote like its for everyone . Pleaese be cafeful dont put chemicals that your body doesnt need!
Garlic and onions don't like me as much as I like them so I adjust my schedule a bit. I eat one or both at dinner then make sure I won't have in person contact with anyone until the next afternoon or evening.
I believe it is because of hormone imbalances being more common whether caused by the person's medical choices or not. Either way if you find yourself battling odors while still bathing daily, some vinegar in your body wash or bath water could help. Still consider contacting your doctor and get your hormones checked. Reflect on your weight and diet. Research about skin PH. Your skin PH would be out of balance allowing smelly bacteria to form faster. Best of luck.
I think it's those dank gamer kids and some Comiccon attendees. Some of whom are not overweight, but definitely need to be acquainted with a bar of soap and water.
If you still smell after a shower then maybe its a medical issue. Using this stuff just masks the smell. Putting perfume over funk doesn't make it better. Its just a marketing ad to take your money.
I'm so glad they got a doctor "expert" to tell me that I didn't need whole body deodorant. Phew, it's a good thing because I was really confused and wandering around in absolute uncertainty waiting for an expert to tell me what to do. Thank you Big Media for telling me what to do!
I think many of the things they said is true but body odour is a thing. To my making this a news and interview people whom all agree is a hygiene problem is sounds more like shaming people that have a good hygiene but will still have some odour coming after at while, they need to address the reason as why some people might get a body odour even though they have good hygiene. For example medical issues. Or bacteria mixed with sweat even though your shower and scrub well and have multiple showers. Also, some people don’t know but soap with fragrance could be a trigger. I have a long battle with body odour. I have to careful of soap with fragrance if a sweated even if a little in the past I will smell bad. I can’t scrub to often because it caused irritation of my skin. White soap and if fragrance free is better, I follow up with a charcoal soap in armpits, under the breast, unscented Castile baby soap for private areas. Find the right deodorant for you. I used native deodorant for under breast. Yes this is a routine that I have followed for some time now.. I can now even go around without deodorant or a shower for at least a day. But I think the major issue for me was fragrance in my shower routine. I have eliminated most of it. I still use perfume after shower but mostly on my clothes. I am trying to eliminate body lotion with fragrance too but is not a trigger for me.
I think since celebrities say they don't wash every day someone jumped up and fed those statements and capitalized on them. Nope. Soap and water alone works for me.
Until they quit running the obnoxious commercials, I won't be buying them! And one 0.5 ounce tube is nearly $4 at Walmart so I'm guessing even more at other stores. They want nearly $15 for the next size up!
Whole body, for real? It's scary. I live in a tropical country, it's super hot in here and very humid. But I don't smell, I have no body odor. I take a bath everyday, I change my clothes. I put deodorant after I shower.
It was find out to cause cancer. A friend of mine saw a commercial back in the day and asked his wife and i was wrong with a kitty smelling like a kitty. Shower and soap is enough, though.
I bought the Lume underarm deodorant and ended up having to reapply it numerous times throughout the day, way more than normal deodorant. Finally quit using it about halfway through the stick and tossed it out. Overpriced gimmick.
Aluminum free deodorant before major brands started carrying them cost a lot too. 10+ wasn’t uncommon. I found Lume seemed to not work for me. Was just using it like normal deodorant.
Once the product got out there I began reading negative reviews about it being not worth the price and/or just didn't work as promised. I'm not at all surprised by this, and constant advertising is one clue to me that something is amiss.
Everybody's different , I live in a very hot area its going to be 106 or hotter today 🥵 cant imagine how people live in high humidity States .if you live in places where its very hot you might want extra deodorant . I'll keep using my regular deodorant and my favorite Dial soap . 🙂
I think the only place you might need to have a specially formulated deodorant is for your private parts. Otherwise you can use a regular deodorant with moderation in other spots. For instance, lots of women use regular deodorant or even antiperspirant in the underboob area.
I figured it became popular due to the rise in extreme morbid obesity. Think My 600lb life, this product would make it much easier for super sized people to stay clean and combat bacterial growth that can cause major life threatening infections. I can see how some people definitely need this product but this news segment was way too PC to address it directly
ehhh... we learned (or I did) people didnt realize washing their legs were a thing. also learned people periodically bathe. there are a lot of dirty people who are looking to mask their odors instead of washing their full body... with something other than their hands. it's not marketed to really big people. its marketed to people who smell and that does not have a weight limit.
As someone that showers everyday, I would be sold on the idea of an all body antiperspirant. I sweat a lot on my back when I’m active and I hate walking around with a wet shirt clinging to my skin. Even the sweat wicking shorts don’t work well. If it’s only going to do something for odor and not sweat then I’m not spending $15-17 bucks for it.
With this weather, one would have to shower and change clothes 3 times a day after every activity just to stay fresh. It's nice to have something in between multiple daily showers.
In the UK, there’s a ‘private’ deodorant. The time, I found one in my friend’s bathroom and I was a little shocked that such a thing existed. But then she was in a relationship but was conflicted about doing a full home run , so I don’t know if it was for their 3rd base activities. 🤷🏻♀️

And don't come at me I don't use these spays I'm just saying it's ironic for the Doc to be so judgemental when she do the same thing.
I stopped using deodorant altogether. Frankly, I think deodorant might have been what was causing me to have body odor in the first place. If I ever forgot to use it on my armpits I would get the worst BO that smelled like fermented onions and garlic, and the skin in my armpits would start burning and itching. I went on a camping trip in the summer of 2020 and forgot to pack deodorant, and after a couple of days both the stink and the burning/itching stopped occurring. Haven't used deodorant since and have never had an issue with the BO or my skin since. I wash thoroughly with soap and that's all I need. Mind you, I have hyperhidrosis and sweat profusely when the temp gets much over 72 degrees too.
No, you do smell. I had this moment too for about 6 months. My friends were just too polite to say anything and my nose adjusted. My crush let me know though when I asked her out.

Apparently, Lume and Lume-type products are all the rage at the moment, and the deodorant that I like has been discontinued. Whatever happened to choices? Some of us don't want to jump on every bandwagon that rolls along. JMHO
Whatever happened to soap and water?
What, like a shower? There's no way I'm getting wet and stuff.
True.
Sooo...after you bathe w/ said soap & water, you don't apply any deodorant afterwards?
It's all about money..
And BATHE.
Who says everyone likes perfume just because you do, lol? A scent is a scent - to each their own!
This is for big men and women who sweat. It's summer.
@@Brainjoy01 Babe, enough with the PC. You're saying this is for clinically obese people who sweat. The overlapping fat makes places, nooks and crannies, no one else even has. And yeah, they must stink after awhile. Actually, they probably stink all the time. Bathing is now a cumberous thing seldom done.
They trying to shame us to use their products 😡
Ive been putting deodorant under my juggs and in my groin for decades. I learned that tip from dancers.
Everyone acting like Axe Body Spray hasn't been around for like 40 years already.
Fr tho at least this isn't a spray and will actually last throughout the day
i find the ads cringey. i shower daily, most days twice and never has anyone told me i stink so i think im good
So crazy, I've been around a long time and don't think I've ever been out in public around other people in any situation and noticed a smell coming from their "private parts" and thought they could use some "full body " deodorant".
These ads are messing with people's minds, creating a near. neurosis where none previously existed.
lol
i have
I remember back in the 70’s FDS ( feminine deodorant spray) was marketed for “everywhere” basically the hoo hoo, and there was such a negative backlash it was gone within a year or so. It was dangerous with chemicals and an affront to the common sense of women.
FDS still exists and has been sold since the 70s with no uproar. Your memory failed you.
Not to mention there wasn’t any equivalent product marketed for men’s junk at the time, and Goddess knows they can get pretty rank down there!
Personally, when I hit menopause, different parts of my body started to smell funky that never used to - despite one or more daily showers. Lumi whole body deodorant definitely makes me less self conscious at the gym than I used to be with just regular armpit deodorant.
Maybe your sense of smell got sharper.
Oh no, it's definitely funk in different places once perimenopause hits. 😂😂😂
@@alyzu4755 It certainly can be beforehand as well. I don't think a febreze type product is the answer.
@@DonoVideoProductions Oh I'm with you. Rubbing scent over every inch of our bodies is not the way.
FYI - Lumi makes an unscented product, which is what I use and recommend.
Something that we didn't know we needed.....until now. Ugh.
I agree with the others. The ads are disgusting.
Slick marketing campaign. And when something is found to be carcinogenic, the bubble will burst.
That's how I think too. If you stink more than usual, there's probably an issue that needs to be addressed, not covered up.
Our body was made to perspire and to wash with soap and water everyday.
Are you saying soap is an evolutionary advantage? Because no it aint. Our bodies are meant to get caked in dirt and rinsed in lakes and rain water.
Marketing execs are fully aware that preying on people's fears or tapping into their sentimentality is what ultimately draws people to purchase the products being peddled to them.
No, no I needed this product before it was put on the marketn and am glad it exists.
Only under 30, I think. At 55 I know what works for me and not a cover up
@@tinytt854 ... You really believe only those under thirty succumb to marketing's BS ? And, that those over 30 suddenly wise up, then become fully aware of and resistant to every single ploy ad agencies utilize to get us to buy stuff we don't need with money we don't have....
Just look at the personal debt load of Americans and the amount of possessions we've accumulated at all ages.... it's very telling.
I think it was always a thing, that is why we had Shower to Shower body powder.
Which has now been linked to ovarian cancer…. 🫤
@@adammaturin1277 I have no idea, but it absolutely works as an anti-perspirant.
This does nothing to prevent sweating. Absolutely nothing
They actually have a new formula with an antiperspirant. I use that one on my feet and it really helps with my hyperhidrosis.

Soap, water. Shea butter. What is going on here??? Y'all watch all those chemicals. No thank you!!!
"Apocrine sweat glands" not everyone has the same body as another person.
I agree, though most of these are natural companies and have pretty decent chemicals compared to regular products.
No one is making you use these products, but if they make someone else feel better about themselves, what do you care?
modern diet makes people smell stinky. modern problems require modern solutions

So does everyone else!
@user-vl8qw8hp1g And that's what we need to realize. In most cases, it's normal, natural and as long as you're not too offensive with your odor, it's acceptable.
Stop hiking 😂
I literally hate the Secret all over deodorant commercial. I will stop wearing Secret if I get another ad and use something else.

Marketing
This product is for large people. The inside of skin folds can smell. And deodorant has a baby powder like quality, so it would help with chaffing and rashes. It is marketed to everyone, so it doesn't ostracize the target market.
That makes sense. I heard my mother uses these products. I was confused. She's a bit overweight...

I need a full-body deodorant when I eat too much garlic and it's sweat weather. Other foods I eat don't seem to change my BO like garlic does.
So you smell like a pizza parlor? That's not a horrible smell. Plus, you'll keep those pesky vampires away.
Garlic and onions don't like me as much as I like them so I adjust my schedule a bit. I eat one or both at dinner then make sure I won't have in person contact with anyone until the next afternoon or evening.
PEOPLE, this is for large men and women. Large people sweat all over. This isnt for skinny people.
Grosses me out. Don’t watch those disgusting commercials.
Some people could use it more than others....Some just have a stronger/ funkier smell....

Nobody wants to say it out loud, especially in an ad, but, yes. You're right.

If you still smell after a shower then maybe its a medical issue. Using this stuff just masks the smell. Putting perfume over funk doesn't make it better. Its just a marketing ad to take your money.
Some people still smell after medical attention and need the extra help. Lume was formulated with tmau sufferers in mind.
It’s antibacterial so it prevents odor. You can buy it unscented if you just want to prevent odor or scented if you prefer to mask odor as well.
Lume works.

I think the only place you might need to have a specially formulated deodorant is for your private parts. Otherwise you can use a regular deodorant with moderation in other spots. For instance, lots of women use regular deodorant or even antiperspirant in the underboob area.
I figured it became popular due to the rise in extreme morbid obesity. ehhh... we learned (or I did) people didnt realize washing their legs were a thing. also learned people periodically bathe. there are a lot of dirty people who are looking to mask their odors instead of washing their full body... with something other than their hands. it's not marketed to really big people. its marketed to people who smell and that does not have a weight limit.
Nobody did Jamie a solid and helped her fix her hair. Also, use a fresh wash cloth and soap when you shower .

Disgusting. Crass. Pits? Obnoxious is not even close
Too many people don't know how to wash themselves either...
Showering on the regular works, too.

What about perfume or cologne . It is crazy the market price of deodorants today. I usually buy them at dollar stores, or clearance sales.
Isn't whole body deodorant just perfume?
It did not work. I tried several different sents and still it did not work.
