I have been living in a border state for more than 20 years, and the number of people who are illegal immigrants who work under the table and send money back to their home countries is insane. The process though is incredibly lengthy, burdensome and outdated. It takes like 5 years to get a work visa. We urgently need to pass a immigration reform. I agree that we need to close down the border. If you want to come, come in legally. But at the same time let's make it easier for them enter the country legally. Everyone who wants to come should be allowed to come as long as they have a clean record and passed a background check.

America did not eliminate the IMMIGRATION. Our law spells out that we allow 1 million emigrants per year, which is 3 millions in 3 years, but not 10 millions in the same period.

It is very painful as a legal immigrant who waited 10 years to come here to watch people walk in. Upon getting a DL a few years ago I was told it would run out within two years with my current card. I was told I should have joined the illegal alien line as it would be cheaper and last longer. This kind of thing will break the country.

It depends on the reason why people are fleeing. Not everyone can spend years trying to arrive here legally. There are illegal immigrants who are headed here because they are fleeing dangerous situations in their home country. And helping these individuals is an important part of American law. People tend to put all illegal immigrants in the same category as if they are all choosing to come here illegally because they want to earn a few more bucks an hour. The situation can be very different from country to country.

Hello Nancy, Former Immigration Attorney Here, let me explain how undocumented immigrants pay taxes. In fact, in 2021, for example, they paid an estimated $30.8 billion in federal taxes. Undocumented Immigrants can file tax returns using what is known as an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), instead of a social security number. All people who make an income in the US have to file a tax return, you can choose not to but it's a bad idea. Now, why would they file tax returns when they don't have to, since no one is tracking them since they don't have a SS number. They do it to prove good moral character just in case they can one day apply for citizenship, they can show a record of paying all their taxes for a minimum of 8 years.
Don't forget that they pay their mortgage (so there's property tax) or rent just like anyone else, except they're excluded from federally funded Section 8 rental vouchers and public housing. They buy things, so there's SALES Tax. Oh and whether they work legally with a social security number given to them by the government or use someone else's social security number, they get tax deductions for benefits they will never benefit from.

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, a NY Democratic House Member calling illegal immigration to her district for redistricting purposes because Americans fleeing blue states in mass due to bad government policies. Congressional seats are allocated based on population. If you’re losing seats and electoral votes you either have to refill them or lose those seats.
Sanctuary cities get more votes and seats because despite illegals being ineligible to vote, they are counted in the population. This gives legals more voting power because it includes a population of non-citizens. They provide leverage. Illegal alien resettlement shouldn't mean more political power. This is unconstitutional, anti-American and criminal. Pure government corruption. Fact check me on this.
Amber may not be wrong about the gangs. But she should be aware enough to mention that under Bukele, El Salvador has become the safest country in the western hemisphere. 1. America messing in South America to suite the oligarchs interests in regards to oil, fruit, sugar and other exports to make their corporations richer needs to stop. This also includes sanctions on countries like Venezuela who have been sanctioned for decades after DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS.

I have to qualify to sponsor my Wife and ensure that we do not sign up for government benefits before she is declared eligible to come here. I live in an area an hour from some of the most expensive community in the nation. Probably half the people in my community work in the trades for the rich and it's a haven for illegals working construction. I was friends with one that did roofing, getting paid under the table, making $80k. This was in 2016 dollars. In order to have proof of income for renting a home, his wife worked retail. This is the standard means of operation for as long as i can remember. Bc the wife doesn't make much they all live in one of two big trailer parks. Driving by the homes look like a poor neighborhood, but they all have $90k diesel trucks and a equally nice car for the wife. They're cash rich and absolutely not paying income taxes aside from the wife's $30k part time job. This is so common it's unbelievable to me that people deny it happening. A lot of blame goes to the construction companies hiring illegals, and to the rich for happily funding it. Wish i could be an illegal immigrant

People who run to other countries instead of fighting to make their country better, won't fight to make this country better either...if things go south here, they will be running to some other country to seek asylum. They are not going to put in the work to try to fix the problem.
I represented a boy who was 16 who was being forced into joining a gang in EL Salvador. He told them no, and then the gang used a machete to cut his 14 year old brother's hand off. They both lived in a cellar for 6 months to hide from the gang, 24 hours a day, until their uncle could guarantee them a way to the US. Luckily, they both were bothe given legal status here. But you want them to fight off the gangs, yeah,...let's send victims of trauma, violence and persecution BACK. Great idea, God would be so proud.

Breaking the law is illegal. The borders don't need to be controlled they should be sealed shut. No one should be allowed to jump the immigration line. The law should be changed to allow the military to be deployed to both the southern and northern borders and ports. Anyone caught trying to illegally enter the United States should be banned for life from entering the US. Persons wanting to enter and live in America should apply at their local US embassy. They should have skills that Americans are unable to fill and will not negatively impact American workers wages. There should be real criminal background and medical checks. Immigrants should speak English to at least a fair level. They should have a bank account with adequate funds to prove they will not need government assistance. These persons should be assigned a case worker who can track their location and status monthly. There are millions of well educated skilled criminal free English speaking persons in the world who would love to become Americans. There is probably more than a billion people in the world who would qualify for asylum and America can not let everybody in. America should have extremely high standards on immigration.
