  • This time, we prepare the front end and spend a day fitting the wings and front valence. This is a more detailed video, showing how Simon fits and aligns front wings. There is no mucking about, just details and welding.

Hardest part is trying to align a car that never lined up properly when new...😮🇮🇪👍

When I was a young lad driving one of these cos it was all I could afford, I don't think I'd have believed you if you'd told me in the year 2024, you could watch live stream in HD from Mars or from the international space station, but the best thing I'd be watching this week is a bloke welding a new front end on a Morris Marina! Great work! 👍

If only BL gave as much attention to detail as Simon does on fit and finish, the company would never have had the reputation it got for quality of product and would have gone on to be something truly great......apart from the issues with industrial strikes, less than stellar management, design flaws and model competition within the same market sector!
The cool thing about restoration is that we can take the time needed to make a great example of the model we fell in love with. In essence - fix what could (or should) have been fixed 50 years ago and make the vehicle look and feel like they said it did in the glossy showroom brochures. Attention to detail is king and Simon has it in spades in regard to the bodywork. The team as a whole have it in tonnage if the finished examples (and other parts of the Marina being prepared) are anything to go by. I always enjoy an update from you blokes and especially for this reason. All the best

Really enjoyed this video... when I was younger around 19 I had a mk2 ford fiesta and its front wings and valance were rotten and as I was a farmers son n not a lot of money and I could weld I went too a panel factors and got myself 2 wings n the valance then cut off my rusty old ones and then faffed around for ages getting the new generic ones too fit and line up to get a reasonable panel gap ect... and weld them in place with my trusty machine mart mig welder... ended up not too bad in the end ...but paid a guy too spray it for me.. so I really appreciate the effort that's gone into this morris front end rebuild .... though the guy grinding in the workshop could have gone somewhere else and let the poor welder have dome peace n quiet 😂...looking forward too the next episode...👍

Great job! I did a pair of Marina wings back in 1994 on my TC Coupe, absolute pigs, the offside one had just the same problem with the leading edge almost touching the bonnet, and that was a pattern. They cost me £41.50 including vat each.....nowadays you could put another zero on that price. It may be worth considering changing out the front suspension for the van/ital Mk2 telescopic conversion, that makes so much difference with some Walford lower trunnions, (two grease nipples, not one).
Good luck with it all, its going to look superb. All the best from Okahandja, Namibia.
