I have a 1993 Z. I am the original owner. Got it at the age of 28. Cost $29,000 back then. Pearl Glacier White. I have all original paper work and dealers sale slip. Back then they sold the Nissan Mechanics Repair Manual. Which I still use today. Today I drive this Z once every two weeks or so. I do get thumbs up from people on the highway or at auto repair store. When I go to Nissan to pick up parts. I'll have car sales man and managers looking at the Z. Due to it being well kept and claeness. But also trying to get me to trade it in. I just laugh. I enjoy driving this Z. Enjoy every year of ownership. One of Nissan well design vehicle for back in its days. "ENJOY THE RIDE"

Gonna reveal a pristine, 1000+ rwhp Z32 to the community, very soon. Had to have a few parts custom milled, and there’s a tiny bit of machining, so I got delayed slightly. Hoping to have everything done and tuned by the end of the year. Went all out on this. Top to bottom, front to back.

Great video. The Z32 is truly an icon - pleasant departure from the Z car design history. I actually like the Z32 design better that the 370, and even the new Z (on pictures only). Mine is a BLK 1996, basically daily driver. I have tried to keep it in pretty good shape - regular scheduled maintenance but use Mobil-1 on oil and car is stored in winter. I updated wheels to 18" with wider tires 285 R/255 F, lowered ~1/4 inch and put a cat-back exhaust, otherwise it's all stock. I have had plenty of folks ask and appreciate how good the car looks. Just a couple days ago, I was stopped for doing 67 on 55. The first thing the cop did was compliment the car (forget me!!) and said he was only going to give me a warning - he said there's not that many anymore and most don't look as clean. I got the warning. Love the Z32.

Welp I'm 18. Just got a job at a ITT factory (good pay) and I just sold my 08 Malibu LTZ for $3.5k
I'm finally buying my dream car this Friday or Saturday! . Z32 300zx. But n/a. Can't find any cheap. It's $7.5k... but I gotta get one now before they really raise lol.
One I'm getting is super super clean. The interior has no flaws, all stock besides cold air intakes, and that red aftermarket hose that connects to the radiator. Low miles. Manual.
Definitely the first thing on list. 1. Clean everything including engine bay. 2. Completely flush and refuel all the liquids. 3. 120k service lol. 4. Look into an exhaust.

Car and Driver top 10 every year it was in production. It was better than all the Japanese cars of the period. I had a brand new 300ZX TT in 1991 and I drove it for 12 years. I was stationed in Germany and drove it on the autobahn for two years. My son has a silver 92 300zx TT and he's 18. We bought it as a automatic and swaped it to manual. I'm all the way into it with the 120k service right now. I'm all the way down to the valve seals, valve cover gaskets, timing belt. All OEM parts. I'm doing the cooling system delete and half the PCV system. I'm not going after the EGR because it's to hard to get to; which is saying a lot because almost everything is hard to get to on these cars. These are great cars!

You touched on something I'd like to highlight, its collectability factor. That is really starting to grow. Collectors are finally starting to realize what an icon the Z32 is. The good part is, this means demand for parts will only increase and therefor supply. Of course the not so good part, if you really want one, is that the prices of good, well maintained ones has bottomed out and will only rise. And that seems to be happening rather rapidly. So, if you really want one you best get off the couch now.

I was a Datsun/Nissan dealer tech when these came out, it was always a dream because it cost so much. As techs we would joke about these cars when doing a T-belt, the NA you can barely get you hand down the side of the engine but the TT you can barely get your finger. Just bought 2 of them, a $200 parts car and a $1000 runner. There's a lot of beaters on Craigslist. Going to build an endurance race car. The only drawback to this car is the cast iron block, makes it nose heavy for racing. Thinking about doing a VQ35 swap. IMHO the best Z ever and the best Nissan equal to the R32 GTR.

Ive been eyeing the market for a bit, looking for a good opportunity to trade up my current NA. The market for these cars have gone insane over the last year, even for clean NAs. Especially the last few months. Survivor NAs went from selling around 5-6k to some pushing closer to 15k now. Shits wild man. I grew up around these cars from my dad constantly buying/fixing/selling all sorts of Zs and its honestly mind blowing how sudden prices decided to go exponential. Happy I got to experience hundreds of mint and not so mint 240-300zs but kinda sad that those days are slowly coming to an end with supply and demand so jacked.

So I've lived in Iowa for my whole 29 years of life and I don't believe I have ever seen one 300ZX on the road or even at a car show and since I discovered them about a year ago I've really liked the look of them. I'd like to drive one before I plan on getting one and I found a nice one in another state and I really like the interior of it but it's almost $40k which for me that's a lot and I sold the BRZ I bought new last year for $31k this year but still owed $29,500 on it and I put what I made from it towards other bills so I'm not sure if I should still go for the one I've found with the only color interior I have ever seen in that car or get a cheaper one without that interior and save $10k or $20k or maybe more but I've never had a Nissan vehicle but I've had some Subarus and Hondas and a friend has said a Nissan would last a lifetime and I believe him when he's said that.
I just feel now is the time to get it because they will just get more expensive over time.

I don’t believe it’s possible to put a turbo in the n/a because the compression is different from the twin turbo vg

Thanks for watching! You can boost anything, but there is definitely some precautions to take when boosting a higher compression engine. Tuning is key. I was more or less referring to just swapping the TT in the car but with the options that the 300zx is the big plus.

Is it a crazy idea to put a turbo’d vw 2.5L 5cylinder into my RHD Z32 , instead of a RB. Since that 5cylinder is based off of the v10 Lamborghini Motor just chopped( not the 2.2L audi 20v from the S1 ) . Making my car a : baby Japanese lambo hybrid?!

    • @BuildTheoryZ
      @BuildTheoryZ  3 года назад +2

Thanks for Watching! For a first Car/Only Car Maybe, Maybe not, This is an Older car and propyl needs maintenance done. If your not worried about needing to perform the maintenance or can comfortable afford to have it done, Yeah get one! If its a second car and you don't relay on it to get to school or work, Yeah pick one up! One down fall with this and ANY 30yr old car is, parts are out of there service life and will fail, witch can create a bad experience for someone that just wants to own the car and drive the car, not having to deal with an aging car. If you want to get one tho, I would suggest low mile and look for something with some service records, Especially Timing Belt that has less than 60k miles on it and preferably less than 6yrs old. Even better if the 120k service has been preformed, Make sure and watch my video about the 120k service and hows it so important for your Z. Pay a little more and get a nice well maintained 300zx, it will save you in the long run. If you want something a little newer and has a timing chain not belt I would suggest a 350z, I have a 350z and I love that car too, so much fun. More Question Just ask!

@@BuildTheoryZ Yeah I came to the conclusion I probably won’t get one because imma need a reliable car and I can’t be worrying on maintenance but I love these cars so much maybe in a couple years I may end up getting one. Thanks for Watching! Sure may not have the aftermarket choices of something like a 240sx (not all of those chooses are good, lets be honest) but there are plenty of options, much better than most. The Z32's have aftermarket company's that specialize in stocking aftermarket parts for the Z chassis. Maybe Ill do a Video on something like this. Also the 90's Nissan sports cars use a bunch of the same parts (ie. 240sx and Z32 extremely similarly rear suspension set up). Thanks again for watching! Appreciate the support and Comment!

i think you should do a NA to TT conversion, upgrade a few NA parts to TT parts like the flywheel, injectors, spark-plugs, radiator i think theres a couple of other parts youll need. I know i will be doing this too, but i have to do a Auto-Manual conversion first :(
