    Lexus RX レクサス・RX, Hepburn is a luxury crossover SUV sold since 1998 by Lexus, a luxury division of Toyota. Originally released in its home market of Japan in late 1997 as the Toyota Harrier, export sales began in March 1998 as the Lexus RX. Considered as the first luxury crossover SUV, four generations of the RX have been produced to date, the first being compact in size, and the latter three classified as mid-size. Both front- and four-wheel drive configurations have been used on the RX series, and several gasoline powertrain options, including V6 engines and hybrid systems, have been offered. In the Lexus model lineup, the RX sits below the larger GX and LX (marketed as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Toyota Land Cruiser body-on-frame SUVs outside North America), and above the smaller NX crossover with a lesser displacement inline-four engine. The name "RX" stands for "Radiant Crossover". It has also been labelled as "Recreational Cross Country" in some markets. The RX's current Toyota counterparts are the Highlander/Kluger; past counterparts were the Harrier and Venza.

    The first-generation RX 300, fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, began sales in 1998. The Japanese market Harrier released in 1997 also offered a 2.2-liter inline-four, later uprated to 2.4 liters. The second-generation RX 300 (3.0-liter V6) and RX 330 (3.3-liter V6) models went on sale in 2003, with both variants supplanted by the more powerful RX 350 (3.5-liter V6) in 2006. Like the previous series, a 2.4-liter inline-four engine was sold alongside the 3.0-liter V6 in the Japanese market Harrier. In 2005, a hybridized gasoline-electric version of the 3.3-liter second-generation model was made available as the RX 400h in export markets and as the Harrier Hybrid in Japan. For the third generation released in 2009, both RX 350 (3.5-liter V6) and RX 450h (3.5-liter V6 hybrid) models were initially offered, with an entry-level RX 270 (2.7-liter inline-four) offered by Lexus in some Asian markets, including in Japan, since 2010. Since the release of the third generation, Japanese sales have occurred under the RX name as opposed to Harrier as had been the case previously. In the fourth generation, a turbocharged (2.0-liter inline-four) RX 200t/300 model was introduced to replace the previous 2.7-liter unit.
    The RX has been assembled at Toyota Motor Kyushu since launch. The RX and RX Hybrid were the first Lexus models to be built outside Japan, with North American market versions produced at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada plant in Cambridge, Ontario beginning 2003 (RX) and expanded in 2014 (RX Hybrid). Hybrid transaxles are built at the Kokura plant in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka since 2009
    TMMC's announced on June 30, 2005, that it would open a third facility, in Woodstock, Ontario, about 40 kilometres (25 mi) west of Cambridge to produce the RAV4. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 11, 2005. The location was picked due to its educated workforce, proximity to the Cambridge plant, and being adjacent to the major transportation corridors, Highway 401 and Highway 403. The first vehicle produced at the West Plant rolled off the assembly line on November 3, 2008. The West Plant covers 1,800,000 square feet (170,000 m2) in space on 4.05 square kilometres (1,000 acres).

      Still on the road yes but Lexus has stopped making alot of these parts which makes it difficult to keep it on the road! I had a customer that needed an airbag computer for a 2003 rx300 but could not get one because they discontinued it. Customer has been in a Lexus car loaner for 2 months now as we try to find a solution. The car is drivable but if they were to have an accident in it the airbag system would not do its job. As a Lexus Technician its frustrating because alot of customers love their cars and do what's needed to keep them .

Another indication is your VIN#, the first three alpha numeric digits are 2T2. Your IS250 was built in Japan, same placement on the door sill or the VIN# starts will the letter J. It is most evident how Japan employees take pride and ownership in their job versus UAW employees just by watching videos from assembly lines at USA, Canada and Japan.

    Bought RX350h made in Canada in 2024. The Canadian models don't come with 'tow hook' and the connection to pull the vehicle in slide off scenario (believe the Japanese made vehicles do have this because that's how they are secured on the boats in transport). Asked the dealer, Toyota in the USA and Japan and nobody cares... All I told is ask a towing company. When the designer and manufacturer cannot answer the question I have the wrong company to do business with.
    Clearly Lexus quality stops on the production line and not in customer service. So much for Lexus excellence!

    The reason for Lexus SUVs made in Canada is because 25% of import duty for SUVs and trucks into America but the import duty is waived for these kind of vehicles made in Canada😂

    I used to have a NX200T, it runs perfectly starting from Jan.2015 to Aug. 2022, with approximately 130,000KM. I just feel too boring which is nothing to care about NX200T, I just replace it with BMW X7.

      My sister and her husband bought into the BMW status thing. That began to change when his X5 needed a new head gasket at 60K miles ($5500) and her convertible began leaking oil from rear seal at 25K miles ($3000). They're fun,...until they're not. Driving dynamics don't mean that much when you're often in the shop, spending big money to repair things that shouldn't need repairing. At least by Lexus standards.

      I used to work at the TMMC Toyota factory in Cambridge, Ontario and did about 550 Corollas and Matrix per 10 hour shift. On the Lexus side of the plant would do about 200-220 Lexus RX350. I can also add, starting 2022 the Lexus NX model is also built at the same Cambridge auto plant. Cheers!

    • @gordonclark7632
      @gordonclark7632 Год назад +1

      It wouldn't surprise me if the fit and finish is superior to American made vehicles. If you watch the way they do the inspection, they use their hands to point out what they are checking just like they do in Japan. They point at what they are looking at to ensure they cover each point as they check it. Watch a couple of Japanese train driver videos and see how the driver points at the object he is looking at.

      Honestly, I’ve a 17’ RX350 built from Ontario Canada. My car is nice and all but I feel my car could be better had it been assembled in Japan instead. I had a defective water pump that cracked in less than 3 years, some interior rattling noise here and there. When I had a loaner RX that was assembled in Japan while my car was in the shop, I feel the quality is a little bit nicer and better. If I was to buy another Lexus again, Id try harder to buy a built in Japan one over US or Canada. Just my two cents :)

    Looks great. I was gonna order the new Hybrid for my wife but decided to save $13-4K going with the NX hybrid. The NX will be build in Japan. Either way, both locations are fine with me, we have been Lexus owners for 20 years, her current 08 RX still runs like a champ and my 17 ES350 drives like the day I brought her home.
