You just gotta be good enough to really show what a character is capable of
That's true enough to be right, but the phrasing makes it seem more absolute than it is. Pikachu was considered great early on and that image is still true as of typing.

I mean they may still be. Upper Mid and High Tier are very close in Ultimate since every character is viable. I'm still saying Byleth is Mid; being Mid tier isn't a bad thing either

I have always thought Byleth was higher than people gave them credit for. Byleth is like the Brawl's Ike of Smash Ultimate. That's why Leo likes them so much.
How is Byleth like Brawl Ike?
@@OrashiTV slow, strong, with large disjoints, good priority in his attacks and a very good character overall. What I was implying is that Byleth is to Ultimate what Ike was to Brawl. Not exactly of course, but very close. Brawl Ike players (like Leo) will feel comfortable with Byleth, as Byleth feels a lot like an evolution of Ike (slower, more range, more power).

I don’t even remember Leo using Ike back then (though I could be wrong)
But yeah, Byleth definitely compliments Leo’s play style, but Brawl Ike just isn’t comparable tbh.
@@OrashiTV Ike wasn’t actually that bad in brawl, he had a good overall matchup spread, he just got bodied so hard by meta knight that no one would use him.

0:51, I’m pretty sure he was actually trying to grab the ledge. Byleths up b doesn’t spike until the opponent reaches 50%
UpB itself starts to spike at 45% but at lower percents it still combos into dair

@@casual_ssb3282 all good! Only reason I know is cuz I'm a byleth main and I've spent hours labbing out the move. It definitely is harder to land. Chances are he would've just read the DI and got whatever other punish was appropriate like bair or side b.
@@simimark1 if it was me and I read DI out I would 100% go for Bair, sends farther outwards and at a lower angle than side b. Definitely pushes advantage more imo. All depends on if the character is easier to juggle or easier to edgeguard.
@@simimark1 It's not 45 unless you explicitly grab the scoop. it's 50% on-throw which means it's somewhere slightly under 50.
edit: he'd want the hit if it's pre-spike for sure and if it's right above plat it works post spike for sure too

I feel like Mythra is going to be the bane of Sonic's existence in ultimate. mythra has the mobility to keep up with sonic and has large disjointed hitboxes with her sword so she can contest with sonic's moves and gimmicks.
But sonic can counter her counter if he spindashes into it and then cancels it into a neutral b
And also Mythra has little ko power so sonic can take out stocks much better than her and sonic can gimp her ez
@@MetaKnightX6 what does "counter her counter" even mean? Sonic's spindash and homing attack is not safe on shield. He only got away with that gimmick online because of input delay. Offline its much easier to move and react to sonic so the match up is now about 50/50.
@@ChaoticSonic400 yes they are they can be cancelled into each other and they cancel so quickly that sonic can attack her after she forsights the spin dash
@@MetaKnightX6 dude obviously your going to get blown up if you keep abusing foresight like that. Its just like if lucina or shulk try to use counter against sonic. Sonic can just mix up his timing if you do it all the time.

@@MetaKnightX6 Dedede is so absurdly low tier. Everything beats his hammer and his attacks are incredibly slow. The reason Byleth is high tier is because you just straight up can't get in on them, if you aren't as a very good zoner it's just over. You're far away from Byleth? You're at kill percent. You're close to Byleth? You're at kill percent. You try to edgeguard Byleth? You're getting spiked at 50. I play Dedede myself and every fight against a competent player is an extreme struggle compared to playing as other characters

That's not usually how that works. In Smash4, Tweek was considered the best Bowser Jr, and when he dropped him, he was still considered the best Bowser Jr for defining the metagame by the end of Smash 4s run.

I've seen many try but no one gets a punish on his Byleth regrabbing the ledge.
Ive seen a few people punish it (i think it was in smash world tour mexico), but he really has a tricky timing when stalling from the tether and although ive seen a few punishes they are far far fewer than non punishes.

Poor Larry got messed up from online and started playing like Summit-Spargo with DA dash attacks. 😭 GREAT performance btw. Most people could just throw projectiles at the ledge for free damage since he always attacks in disadvantage there. Guess most people used to killing their opponent there.

Character rankings are about 60 percent how good the character is and 40 percent how well the top reps are doing with the character. Byleth, your next.
A vast majority of people thought byleth was high tier before MKLeo used them (i.e Mr. E,) top players knew Joker was top tier before Leo started doing well, Diddy and sheik were actually bad until they got buffs. Most casual spectators look at characters in terms of representation and results. However, top players (except ESAM because his opinions are actually terrible,) usually look at a character in terms of their stats and potential.

@@genesisfgc Byleth is extremely slow, can get walled the frick out, has honestly one of the worst projectiles in the game, bad recovery, no combos, no good OOS, horrible frame data and extremely laggy moves. Diddys recovery, while buffed, if intercepted at any percent he will die, and he cant kill. Sheik LITERALLY can't kill and doesnt have a real combo game starting at like 70-80, so her high percent game is atrocious. Joker, well, bud, joker was thought of as a mid to high tier, few people said he was top tier lol, until, you know Leo started dominating. Diddy has been moved up recent tierlists a lot due to the best smash player in the world, so has byleth, sheik isnt getting insane results, but still slowly inching on up. If you want I can prove all of my points

I think he wants as much games on byleth and use joker or p&m on bad matchups or game 5 situation
He doesn't like having to play Joker, so he's much more likely to use the Aegis or Byleth and pull out Joker only when needed.
The man isn't Hbox guys, his Joker may be cool but playing one character for so long can get boring.

I don't even think Leo think Byleth is high tier, he's talked about them a few times saying they kind of suck, he probably just likes the character and play style. Its like when he was playing Ike and everyone thought Ike was high tier, but now barely anyone plays him and he's solidly mid tier. I think Leo's also partially flexing on people playing Byleth. If Byleth was high tier, I think he would've played them at Summit, and I don't think he played them at all there.
To be fair leo did play byleth at summit until he fought tweek but stopped after his pyra/mythra got 3-0 e'd by tweek probably so he could practice them, plus it's worth noting he barely used joker and most would say they are top 2.

I agree. Leo makes Byleth look like they can actually move. He could probably do well with anyone he wants. Also it’s likely that no one will have Byleth experience because no one really knows the matchup. Which is an extra plus that Leo doesn’t need. But yeah Summit kind of showed that when Leo feels like he could possibly loose he’ll go aegis ( and sometimes joker but he doesn’t really play him that much anymore)

You need to get you some Byleth matchup experience! Just learn to DI the up B & you won’t take so much damage, and you can often hit byleth before byleth can hit you or airdodge. Unfortunately it looked like you walked into everyone of those traps and you would have to make up so much damage for it.

But Larry, Tweek's coach was right. Mkleo is not the best in the world. Tweek 6-0 Leo with almost two stocks every game. Mkleo is nowhere close to Tweek's Level. Additionally, Leo was playing the op character and the winning matchup. Leo has reached his limit but Tweek is only getting started.
That is a bit unfair to say. Tweek literally lost to Leo 12 times in a row before that. Him beating Leo twice doesn’t make him the best in the world.
There's competition. Leo is high up there but with so much talent is close. I think Leo is number 1 but everyone else is not too far behind
