Great vid guys. Shame the knee exploded but these things happen and you had support.
Probably bit off more than you could chew 😂
I used to do audax rides , mostly in Wales, some superb but mad routes so empathise, having a crisis on some windy mountain is amusing.... afterwards.
I might share this with a mate who is doing a 120 mile charity ride into mid Wales this year, never done more than 40 miles and is lazy with training attitude... haha.
    Well done.

Brilliant video, makes me really want to try out some ultras in the UK! Have competed in a couple in Australia but England looks pristine for it!

Both my knees tried to give up when I did the express rally in 2022, but i was foolish enough to keep going all the way to Manchester (I had to take it easier and do it in 4 days rather than 3). But then I had to fix my IT band issues and do no long distance rides for the next 3 months. Sometimes stopping is the best decision in the long run.

100%, luckily it didn't take me off the bike for too long. Next time I'd aim to build up to it a bit better 😅

I went to the Manchester Q&A session for the 2024 edition earlier this week and have since watched your coverage of the three days. A great vlog which really does make me want to take part in this event. Looks super tough but that route does look absolutely amazing. Fantastic videos, thank you for capturing the ride so very well.

Thank you. You definietly should! I'd love to go back and do it again, definitely with Honor and probably at a more relaxed pace so we could take it in a bit more

Thank you, will keep that in mind in future. Honestly I had no idea where I was half the time so it would be good to keep track! 😅

Hey big effort dude, congrats on making it that far. Don't beat yourself up too much, it's about the kilometres you do not the ones you don't do.
Do you know if you can do this route out within the race or is some of the land you pass through only granted access for the race? I'm away when it's on so would like to do it at a different point of the year.

Thanks! Yes, the route is available to be ridden at any time but you don't get tracking or the checkpoints outside of the event. You can find the GPX on Komoot

Thanks! Day one we stayed in Newcastleton, super nice little town near Keilder but my route to and from there started halfway up one of the biggest climbs of the day so maybe would have pushed on over it and stayed actually in Keilder if I did it again. Second day we stayed in a the Youth Hostel in Hawes and would highly recommend it.

This lads face, voice and body language suggest he is not quite loving it! Maybe just his languid style, and inside he is ecstatic! Either way, enjoyable content!

lol as his girlfriend, thank you for saying that 😂 to be fair though there’s only so many times he can say “wow this is so nice” without that getting boring too
