    Stunning footage as always Gerry, I really liked all of the close up shots. There was one shot at around 30seconds in and it looked like the water was going to flow from my screen 😄 Cracking video and an interesting fact about the tadpoles, I had never heard that before

      Cheers Jason, hopefully your floor was safe from any spills💦😊 I was really curious about seeing tadpoles in July and had to look it up, it seems they can even over winter as tadpoles before turning to frogs🐸😊

    I want to thank you for taking me along on this beautiful journey! I think channels like yours are so important. They allow people from all over the world to see places they’ve never experienced before. Without channels and content like this, we’d only see the tourist version of these lovely countries-not the amazing wild places. Thank you again!

    Lovely Mayo! Great that the waterfalls were calling to you, they would call to me too! Beautiful countryside with lots of light and shadow. Love seeing the refreshing green of the hillsides and mountains and the bright pops of color in the flowers. Pretty dragon and damsel flies…I think I’d spend lots of time watching them… but crazy how many midges there were too. Lovely to have a long, late summer evening. Beautiful!! 😄👍💕💗

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  2 года назад

      Cheers Jennifer👍 the rivers and waterfalls are always calling😊 There are definitely 'good' and 'bad' insects🦟😊 and it is really cool here in the height of summer to have light so late into the evening, though already vanishing as we head to autumn.

    Worth the wait, Gerry. Marvellous images and atmosphere again. You are right about Mayo of course. It is an amazing county with such a variety of mountain, lake and coastline to enjoy. Incidentally, Tawnyard lough is part of the Erriff system (which I am sure you know anyway) and is fished as part of that for salmon, brown trout and seatrout. Sadly, when the salmon farms arrived in some parts of the west of Ireland (and NW Scotland also), the wild seatrout stocks collapsed in both places wherever there were farms in the adjacent estuary. Apparently by coincidence of course. That's the story. In some places they have at least made a partial recovery but Delphi and the Erriff were badly hit, as were many other systems from Galway Bay to Clew Bay. Amazingly, outside of these areas, seatrout runs are as healthy as ever. Anyway....sorry to be a bore on that and back to your video. I think I said it all really. One of your best in my opinion, and you didn't even have to get eaten alive by midges or clegs to do it :). Cheers again.

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  2 года назад +1

      Cheers James👍 I have read about the impact of fish farms on wild fish and your comments say the same. There is so much work needed to return these wild places to their natural state, whether it be the state of the rivers or the state of the land. Hopefully we are beginning act on this realisation, slowly but surely. The midges were kept at bay, on this trip at least🦟😊 and of course Mayo is the county that has it all👍

    Looked a fantastic trip Gerry - your views above Doo Lough with the rolling mist and sun setting were magical! What a spot to relax and watch nature in action 👍 Great you were able to bivy for the night without any flying intruders too 😊 Enjoyed your alternative route down Ben Creggan and what you got to see. Love the insect/dragonfly shots . They won't stay still for me! Once again you are in a magical place. You're getting the clouds/mist rolling in and out so well! Midgeees! Aaaaaaah! Once again you appear to be getting the whole area to yourself. Interesting about the tadpole delayed development!!!! It's great to get out there. It'd great to be able to do it. Great therapy. Keep 'er lit gerry!

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  2 года назад

      cheers Tom, I will try to keep it lit as much as possible😊 it was really cool to be able to get so close to dragon and damsel flies, maybe they are more chilled out in Mayo😊 though it wasn't too great to be getting close to the dreaded midges at times. I am continually amazed that places like this are deserted at weekends in the summer, though obviously pleased to have it all to myself at the same time😊

    Never short of inspiring pitches over there gerry. With cloud inversions galore the way up was a visual delight. Good to hear the night went well without the midges to force back into your bivvy. Your narration would have been very different. As it was it was light and airy. Hey, the waterfalls speaking sounds like my kind of detour to. Worth it I must say. Well, good going - enjoyed that. Have a great week ahead. Mark

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  2 года назад +1

      Cheers Mark👍 It is an inspiring place from below and from above. The narration on my latest trip will be very different due to slightly more midges🦟 I love following rivers as they tumble off the hills and exploring the ravines and waterfalls which usually produce some surprise, like the lone Mountain Ash in an otherwise treeless wilderness. Have a great week too👍

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer 2 года назад +1

    Have you ever used a head net for midge protection?
    Funny about the tadpoles,I saw some in small ponds going around Scafell area,on Wednesday.

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  2 года назад

      I have thought about the head net and might look into it further as the midges can be absolutely maddening at times🦟😊 It is fascinating that the tadpoles can slow things down depending on the food supply and climate.

    A prayer for peace.
    Father God, I often find myself overwhelmed by circumstances that are beyond my control, and I am easily distracted by things that don’t matter. Please forgive me for not consistently placing my trust in You. Even when I am faced with intense situations, You are still with me. You are the Creator of peace, and I can have access to Your peace-filled presence whenever I draw near to You. So instead of silencing Your Holy Spirit when I start to feel anxious or discouraged, help me to make room in my heart and mind to experience the peace You freely give. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
