It's 20 years too late to bring Firefly back, the original cast are way too old to star in any sort of action series unless they just pop up here and there, and then it would only be Firefly in name. Maybe they could do a prequel series of the Unification War, or a mini series battling the Reavers. I don't think the fanbase is there, or any general interest making it a worthwhile venture by the studios though
Joss Whedon was very hard on his employees, but he is also very hard on himself. He strived for a very high level of perfection and he would settle for nothing less. He is one of the greatest storytellers alive today in a landscape filled with so many mediocre storytellers. I hate to see his talents going to waste. Firefly is my favorite TV show of all time. It could have been bigger than the Star Trek franchise if they had given it a chance. I would rather watch a Joss Whedon movie or TV show than anything else. Please bring back Firefly with Joss Whedon.
Firefly has some potential as either a reboot or a continuation or even as a "Next Generation". The original wasn't much and it's been a long time since anything has come out. This means there isn't much cannon to step on and you have a good excuse to cast new actors. Firefly also doesn't have the recent history of failure that you see with Star Wars and Star Trek.
@@SteelWolf13 14 eps and a movie, wow, such a massive content library. Gosh, I totally take back what I said. That's way more than something like Star Trek if each entire series were taken as an episode and you ignored the movies. How could they ever keep the continuity straight? It would be nearly impossible to make anything in a universe with such deep lore.

Agreed, I think a lot of the appeal for people is the 'what if' because we got 14 pretty perfect epsodes. But whose to say it would have maintained it over multiple seasosn? - most shows don't and gradually sink into mediocrity, shock stories to try and pump veiwing figures and overstay their welcome as studios pump them as cash cows. There’s some great Firefly books and comics out there.. Many written by Joss himself.. There’s also some Serenity stories that came after the movie.. I’m sure there’s bad ones too, but I’ve read many good stories..
No studio will let Whedon a million miles near a project, unlike Buffy which had a lot of other talented writers who could run a reboot Firefly was much more his specific voice, without him this would be flat.
Jewel Staite literally just wrapped Family Law out in Vancouver, as a recovering alcoholic divorced single mum lawyer... I could see Kaylee coming in as a recovering addict of some kind...
Joss Wheedon did great job Firefly series ... And other stuff Joss did ... Joss does characters and stories excellently ... We dont need FX galore and no story or characterizations
For Hoban (Wash) to be back from the dead, he either has to be a clone or the Hoban that died was the clone and he was replaced either before or during the events of Serenity to get a mole onboard the Firefly... with the real Hoban spending x-amount of years in confinement.
Sorry man, I am sick to death of you yanking everyone's chain about Firefly, Stargate and all the rest of the "old lady" gossip your presentations are all about. The only presentations you have been correct about have been those that were announced by someone else earlier. Everything else has been smoke from your pipe hole, lol. Every time you and your guests say, "I think...", everything you say afterwards has been unsubstantiated opinion/gossip and completely void of any facts. I hate that you continuously raise people's hopes, only to see them fall, over and over again. You seem to treat the topics like they're some sort of fantasy dice roll board game. What a complete waste of time. We are all fans, but to be misled by you, every single time is getting old. Best of luck man, but you need some fresh bait on your hook. The con game is over.
WTF DUDES!!! Harris was talking, saying interesting stuff, and you damn Subscribe add goes BANG, CRUNCH, ZAP, and we can't hear what he is saying. Get your act together.😡
It was one of the first sci fi westerns shows and had a big world with planets, ships and species to explore and then was canceled before we really got to explore the universe.
Personally I think that series got an adequate ending, I don't need to see the 50+ year old cast try to recapture the magic, especially when two of the characters are dead and one of the actors is now a full on Qanon lunatic. A completely new story with a new crew in that universe, I would be all for that.
It isn't coming back. we know that because when the fans had the chance to bring it back, they didn't turn up to see the movies in theatres. It's about money - If they had turned up, they'd have got more of it, because there was money to be made. It's dead.
I agree that the numbers don't suggest that bringing it back would be a good idea. It being a Fox property means that Disney has it and Disney already has Star Wars which they see as a competitor to all other space franchises. Thing is, they don't actually pay attention to the books over at Disney. It being a bad bet comes second to the small but vocal fanbase. I'm not saying they will make it because it's a bad bet. I'm saying that they wouldn't axe the idea for that reason.
@@danjager6200 They have axed the idea because it is a small but apathetic fanbase. They had their chance to save it and they didn't show up. Being loud doesn't bring in the cash and Disney is increasingly being forced to pay attention to the books, the shareholders are pushing back. It's dead. move on.
Firefly? Dear god why are people still on about it? It was a decent enough show but for whatever reason, it's become some sort of myth that has far outgrown how good it actually was. Its basically at the point, like some other cultural phenomena, where it's 'understood' by people that you must praise it as this grand thing. Well thats fine, but IMO it simply wasnt THAT good.
Including the movie there have been more years since we had it than episodes that it ran. It didn't come back after Serenity because the budget before marketing was 39M. After marketing and ticket stubs, the break even would have been between 97.5 and 156M depending on how high the advertising budget turned out to be. It made 40M meaning it lost the studio money. The fan base might be loud, but there aren't that many of them. That said, loud means more to Hollywood than any rational arguments ever will.
Joss Whedon is cooked in Hollywood, we need him on writing duties as much as the original cast. Sorry same old comment, while we live in the woke era, I'm very hesitant.
On Joss Whedon being a spent force from video comment. IDK I think he was pigeon holed for his writing style in Buffy/Firefly/Angel. IMHO coming back to Buffy, Angel or Firefly he could tell many great tales with his trade mark dialogue BUT it gets boring saying it "in this woke Hollywood era". We all know the fate of Star Wars, Trek, Dr Who etc etc It's too soon IMHO, maybe in 2 years of Trump's term Hollywood may change??

Part of what makes Firefly special is the lack of it. A too short series & a movie to wrap it up has been great, imo.

@ Fair point. I absolutely paid no regards towards any media other than the series & movie. Thanks for pointing that out.

How about a series ...encompassing whole Milky Way Galaxy ?
I like the more enclosed approach that Firefly took. That said, I could see doing something that encompasses more than we have so far seen.
