Frank what you're calling "modernity" is in reality, capitalism i.e., bourgeoisie and petite bourgeoisie "values" commodity fetishism, hustle culture, and capitalist alienation. I nkow you're not a Marxist and you were heavily indoctrinated against Marx, but Marx discussed all the toxic effects of the upper classes that arose in the last 400 years. And plenty of other folks have built on his criticism. But I know it's almost taboo to admit that Marxists have the answers.
