      Thank you. I've always wondered if it's worth the extra video time. I want people to have a better idea of what they are seeing at night and how to interpret the comparisons..

    I have been looking for a light to mount on my tool with a prism optic. Have narrowed it down to Acebeam P 17 or 18, and Fenix TK22R. After seeing how the 18 reaches out better, that is a no brainer now! Thanks for your video! Good presentation!

    I think the 17 is more practical but the 18 definitely has a nice bright hotspot. Nice comparison 👍

      In Search and Rescue, I can see many opportunities to select one or the other, depending on what I know about the terrain in advance. Thanks.

      p17 got a very weak strobe, the candala drops to half when strobe mode turned on, this is bad for tactical use but for search and rescue,p17 is perfect

      @@alexzuo8518 do you have that light? Cause i have it and the strobe is pretty disorienting even at daylight and idk you but who uses strobe at long distance?

    Great show! Still a tough decision. I like the craftsmanship of acebeam. I have an acebeam k75.. used it to light up sasquatch, not lying! Great work

    I consider the P18 to be one of the best mid range flashlights available!
    Everyone has their own preferences, so this is my personal opinion

      Based on first impressions, it's a beast :). It's going into a long test phase now for SAR use. Thanks.

      You're right but my preference is P17 and by a wide margin

    Excellent video! It almost looks like the p17 is a cool white and the p18 is a neutral white overall. I think the 17 is better with almost as much punch and a lot more spill. What is your thoughts on that please?

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  Год назад +4

      It has a wider field of view by virtue of lower candela. That and runtime are where the P18 excels, at the expense of greater battery burn down. I like having both available as free lights because I can tailor the choice to the environment, i.e. anticipated line of sight and ability to cover a specific field of view. Thank you.

    Also i have the acebeam L 16. It has quite a bit of candela for a 2000 lumen light.
    lumen light.

      I never got a chance to field test the P16. Heard many good things about it, though. Thank you.

      Thanks. Weather has thrown me a big setback in the short term. I'll be substituting other reviews in the mean time. The route I have in mind for the helmet-mounted P18 review will be very dangerous at night, so I want the terrain to be relatively dry.

    Nitecore P 23i vs. P17, P18?

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  9 месяцев назад +2

      That's the most insightful question in the fewest number of words I've ever seen :). UI/controls, general tac light, I might lean towards the P23i. For SAR, the lower the expected line of sight (I often operate 150-200 yd max), I'd like the P17 for the wider field of view. For its High output level and brief bursts in Turbo at longer distances, the P18. Battery can get really drained on the P18 with too much Turbo. Did an exercise over the winter with 30 to 45-sec 360-degree surveys every 6-7 min. After just over and hour and five, the light would not stay in Turbo. It dropped down after just a couple seconds. Might we worth a more extended comparison video if time allows. Thanks!

      Thanks. I actually skipped a lot of detail and that's just personal preference based on my use cases in Search and Rescue. YMMV.
