Amtrak & Metro North Railroad HD 60fps: Early Evening Rush Hour @ New Rochelle 6/23/16

The New Haven Line gets VERY busy during the rush hours, and that is evident from only half an hour of my being there (5:00 pm to 5:30 pm). Enjoy the action =)
Among the many trains seen is a 12 car M8 EMU set, and Amtrak ACS-64 670 on its first revenue run double heading with 649 on Northeast Regional train 137. The unit was testing only just yesterday, but experienced a cab signal failure, and had to be put on a revenue train in the trailing position so it could be moved back down to Washington DC for inspection and repair.

That is a permitted move under NORAC Rule 291 (stop and proceed). This type of move is in fact done on a day to day basis at certain stations like New York Penn and Trenton.

@@FanRailer Metro North doesn’t use NORAC rules so none of them apply. They have their own rule book. And they don’t use Stop and Proceed signals. The moves you are seeing is the following train running on a Restricting cab signal after passing a Proceed Cab wayside signal.

12 cars to Grand Central. I rarely see 12 cars on the New Haven line. I usually ride 10 cars to/from Stamford, max.

+Fan Railer No! They're normally Air Bells. There's a difference. Have you hear Amtraks/NJT single single level cabcars. Those are Air Bells. E-Bell that's on newer locomotives and some older ones.
