Thank you - woke in the night to hear the ‘chirping’ - managed to stop that but as a recent widow - completely flummoxed as to how to get cover off unit. I too twisted ,pulled etc - nothing. I would never have squeezed the sides without your video - off it came - up to shop for new battery - changed it - closed it - tested it - Thank you - x
Thank you for this. I was struggling to change the battery of the old type alarm and after searching a lot I found your video, very helpful! Great video!
Amazingly helpful thank you! We have an old alarm with no text on it in our rental and would never have thought to squeeze and hinge until watching this. Saved us going mad... Cheers!
Cheers bro. Thanks for your help! Been figuring out for ages how to remove 2 of our smoke alarms because the other 2 is just twist. It turned out there is a stopper that needs to be pulled out. I've been pushing it!haha.
Just wish to thank you for this video! I looked for something to pop the cover off, I twisted it, i was pulling also lol, my next stage was the hammer Haha didn't think about squishing the sides! So yea cheers!
I feel that creating a user friendly smoke alarm would make one a billionaire. I am shoked by the amount of overengineering baked in. And the complexity of maintaining it. Is not obvious at all and one would need to read the manual first. Annoying.
Hi, each smoke alarm detects different types of fires. Ionization smoke alarms can quickly detect the small amounts of smoke produced by fast flaming fires. Photoelectric (Optical) smoke detectors typically respond faster to a fire in its early, smoldering stage.
If it's a 10 year battery there's a tab you use a pin or something to push to disable it for good. (You'll have to buy a new one after that at your first opportunity)
Our smoke alarm is called a honey wishing well and it's very loud that's why I have headphones and so when the fire alarm goes off it means that the fire or a test and I'm a remember about a power outage at our house building very scary but the fire alarm went off that means it was going off like beeping well I don't know if they're like a fire or not because I was very scared I ran int into my grandma's room and and I slept with her tonight. And this time I'm sleeping with her cuz she's Grandma she's my grandma
Is there any money in the wishing well alarm? A lot of people throw pennies in the well hoping for their wish to come true and did you ever find the honey? Perhaps your sticky and don't realize it?
Find out more at: www.SmokeAlarmWarning.org Australian legislation (Queensland and the Northern Territory) and legislation in Zealand and some U.S. States mandates the use of photoelectric smoke alarms. Many authorities advise photoelectric alarms are "better" but for legal and political reasons are not allowed to warn that there is anything wrong with ionization alarms. However, in 2016 Australia's most senior fire official representing all fire brigades across Australia and New Zealand went public warning that "ionization smoke alarms should be banned". See his warning on Australian TV and discover for yourself why ionization smoke alarms should be banned: www.SmokeAlarmWarning.org
Why they make these covers so hard to get off I will never know. I’m in Australia and been trying for 3 hours to get it off. Ready to just get a hammer and smash the thing to pieces and replace the whole fucking thing

Very helpful video
Thank you so much, it really helps me!
On that old fashion smoke alarm would be a manufacture date stamped on the back of the alarm
5:58 , 8:32 Unusual locking mechanisms.
thank god for this video
Do I need to turn off power to it for the 4th one?

Chris E I would just put a two wire conventional fire alarm system in your house that’s easier to work with
Why is the reply hidden?
Thank you 🙏
Time to replace it!
Very helpful! Thanks!
You should test your alarms once a week or once a month
The 3rd alarm is supposed to be a hard wired one
Thank u!!!! woud be great if you were to put down times when crtain types start, so do not need to watch the whole thing as I did .... :)
Noticed on the 2nd smoke you have the mains powered one; why not just take the old one down?

What are the model of battery that we should to replace
??
Thanks
Replace any ionisation smoke alarms with optical/photoelectric smoke alarms
Mine began beeping last night ive taken it down to sort
Mine was second one but i got removen of the roof now i got it
That first one with the pins is one I’d avoid having altogether. Belongs in the trash.
What was the brand of the second one?
Unfortunately looks like my smoke alarm battery isn't replaceable. Its bleeping every 5 seconds. Looks like a council job then for mine

The second is mine but its baterry dead and does not work
