Here in the States we have a scientific method of measuring comfort. See, we got a hundred men to ride the new Madone, 17% got erections while riding it, so that has to mean comfort, right?
Please Please Please do some blind tests of the isospeed compliance! You have the perfect opportunity. Take it to the extremes and have the other presenters determine what setting its at by riding while they cant see the setting. We can get some blind testing of the isospeed claims. I would love to watch that.
I've got one and was lucky enough to own the older model, which they still make as an entry level bike. I've ridden the System Six from Cannondale and it rides like a TT bike with drop bars, whereas the Madone is more like a highly refined road bike. A few Years back if you would have told me how much difference it makes I wouldn't have believed you, I've tested it and it's 24 seconds quicker over 4km using the same rims and power output.
Thanks for the chuckle, Ollie. Quite frankly, it took a palm to my forehead to recall who designed Lasty's paint job. And now we need a Presenter Duel on those gorgeous Madones.
Gorgeous bicycle, I definitely agree with your choice of wheels. Also, those bottle cages are a lovely sculptural element, as well as being a light and practical design. Wishing you many a great ride on this bike. Cheers Ollie!
love it. Bought 2 roadies in the past 4 months. My latest was my dream bike, now I’m reconsidering. I do prefer a set of aero bars for comfort though. The forearm balance Trick isn’t the safest or most efficient. Especially when I get to yank mine back and slid my rear forward. Pure power mode.
Lovely bike. I have a 9.2 and although it's old-school now I love it to bits. I prefer the red 9.9 presenters bike from a few years ago but I'm not that into two tone paint. The madone is the best bike ever made in my opinion and that one is a sweet example 👌
I bought a 3D printer on a whim and it's become one of the best purchases I've ever made. No longer do I have to put up with specific light/computer combos or just horrible mounts in genaral. The Garmin mount for my Bontrager one piece bars put the Garmin way up in the air. Looked hideous. It took about 10 iterations but I printed a mount that doesn't bounce, is flush with the bars, and has the Garmin super tight against the mount. Worth every penny.
@@douglaspate9314 XYZ Printing da Vinci 1.0 Pro. Pretty happy with it so far. There is definitely a learning curve but, if you like to tinker, it's worth the green.
@@mfennell70 I haven't yet but should. I bought my printer specifically because it did ABS for durable mounts. So far I only had one mount break on gravel. Luckily my Garmin was in a rubber case. Haha.
I saw you on this bike a while ago and went to trek and ordered the same bike love the paint job and it is so fast don’t have the zipp wheels maybe one day!!
Last time I saw Ollie reviewing a bike it was the scott addict he got on cycling weekly. They must be gutted it only lasted about 4 weeks before GCN picked him up. #Olliegang #Olliesquad #TeamOllie
Sick looking bike Ollie! An absolute stunner. I was a bit surprised it was so heavy, thought it might be low 7's but if the majority of your rides are flat or rolling then it's still worth it. Side note, I do miss lasty, is he still around??
I like the newest Madone choices. The thing to look out for when choosing the model is the SL versus SLR not so much because of the "better carbon" but because the SLR is "H1.5" and I believe the SL is H2. Getting all of these dimensions dialed in before you order the frame is very important because adjusting it after you order it can cause you to lose some aero benefits. Also, if you can get the SL to fit you, it's probably better to upgrade the wheels before you upgrade the frame to the SLR. Assuming you're trying to meet a budget. Last consideration is that unlike most if not all of the other "aero" choices, the adjustable "decoupler" makes this frame rideable every darn day. That can and should affect your decision matrices as well. If you end up with, say, a Venge, which also looks great, you just might feel the need for a Tarmac within a few weeks of riding your new Superbike on the road to ride comfort purgatory. The only real downside to adding this new model Madone with disk brakes to your collection might be compatibility with existing wheels and so forth. I plan to keep my "standard" bike(s) for backup and for the indoor trainer sessions and the "aero disk super bike" will be used at least 26 to 28 times a month...unless it breaks down and needs to get shipped off somewhere for repair. But my point is that I want it dialed in for all around use and I will spend extra time and money to make sure it can ride well over all terrain and conditions. That means a 40 to 50mm front rim and 50 to 65ish in the rear with larger internal widths (at least 18 in the rear and 17 in the front, up to 20mm each). All of those things are more important to me than the "carbon" upgrade in the frame - unless I need the shorter head tube dimension of the SLR. These are some seriously excellent choices from Trek. Think it through and you might find the perfect Madone superbike for you garage. Or bedroom.
Hey GCN. I appriciate all of the videos you guys make. It has really helped me out and now with the knowledge I have learned from you guys over the years, i am buying my first super bike tomorrow. Its a 2017 Specialized S-works Tarmac Team Astana Edition (riden by Arman Kamyshev) i guess it was a spare bike (atleast the frame) for the tour Brand new ZIPP 404 firecrest clincher wheelset Sram red e-tap.
Hello, I'm on the market for a Trek Madone. I'm 182cm and inseam 83cm. I'm wonder if I need a 58 as according TREK sizing chart or 56 (as I have a Canyon ultimate disc medium which is very comfortable). Thanks a lot for support :)
A ceramic coating is in well order for a bike of this magnitude. That, along with strategically placed clear vinyl wrap to protect from rocks. I couldn’t stop staring at the paint chip on the fork at 1:40 😢
Ollie, that chiped paint on the fork is it from an epic adventutre? In that case it's a nice touch. If it's from transport or simillar I feel sorry for you.
As an OUT and OUT Trek fan Ollie your bike is AWESOME! A couple of questions though; what made you choose the ZIPPs over the Bontrager Aeolus XXX 6? and is the entire bike "Project One" or are there bits (wheels + saddle) that are your personal out of Project One purchases? By the way, narrower handlebars are absolutely the best way to go!
Certainly a lot of bikes have changed through your program. Is it worth taking this bike compared to for example, S-Works Venge or the new Cervelo S5 how is the stiffness I am looking for something really stiff and fast to race? Did Trek not go more comfort with the costs of lateral and frontal stiffness in this model ? A lot of these bikes are sold shortly after purchase, and why? The simple question is whether this bike really rides well or just looks good and is more pleasing to the eye than to be used for really aggressive, fast riding / racing?
No doubt @ all, Olli: TREK is the one of your two bikes (I’m in love with this bike, even-though I’ve the new SWORKS Venge 2019). But the Madone is different, personal and super beautiful (Venge, BMC..... pretty same look 😞) Congratulations!!
Sweet bike Ollie! The last time I watched you do a video on a bike of yours I went out and built the same one myself (Cannondale SS EVO HM climbing bike). I shouldn’t have watched this one. Now I’m really screwed! 😄
Ollie did you have the larger mast on this bike? About to buy one, but I run my seat post about 31 inches, and the regular mast wouldn’t reach that height.
Ollie, nice bike. I have the new Madone in Refliptive paint. Absolutely love the ride, though 404 NSW for me. My question for you... At 1:40 in the video, there is a chip visible on the top of the fork. I'm guessing there is a mirror chip on the left side. I had/have the same issue. Trek replaced the fork (warranty in 2 weeks time) when I saw it after a few short rides. No, I have it again on the second fork. I believe it is caused by the 'stopper' for it to not oversteer. I'm waiting for a solution from Trek. Anything you know about?
Would you give Ollie's Trek Madone a nice, or a supernice? 🔥
GCN Tech super nice once he’s fixed that bar tape 😂 @ 5:19
Super nice for sure but I do own the same bike!
Super super nice!!

Ur 200th like I am
I missed the bit when you told us how we could win it 🤔
17% more comfortable? how do you go about measuring that....?
if lasty looks comfortable, he's not trying hard enough
Here in the States we have a scientific method of measuring comfort. See, we got a hundred men to ride the new Madone, 17% got erections while riding it, so that has to mean comfort, right?
It was a joke, and one I got a good chuckle from.

Hi there Ollie,, that's a supernice roadbike for me. And the way you presented it with pride and joy makes it superduppernice.👍

I' m not normally a Trek fan but... my LBS has a Madone in the window that I keep drolling over - just lush!
Ollie you are a dude! I love the information and delivery you have in showcasing the Trek Madone SL6. I gotta have one!

Without a doubt the best looking bike I’ve ever seen, bike porn of the highest order.
Mark Watson you have lived a very sheltered life then...
Reginald Scot only my opinion 😉
Every brand is copying BMC now to the point where its a universal thing. Kind of like the stratocaster guitar or rollerblades.

What i like about trek is that they hide every sign of wires in handlebars and that looks awesome 🔥
