A car that can make 800 hpwith a few mods and still be dependable. Overall this was a great video and i have been waiting for a up to speed on svt since last year
Just wanted to point out that the 2000 Cobra R's 5.4 isn't the same as the lightning's "without the blower". Its a completely different engine, with 4v heads and way higher compression. Otherwise, this was an awesome video! Nice to see the 99 cobra get some love 😁
Agreed, I was expecting to see more about the SVT Focus. As far as the tuner hatchbacks, it was one of America's biggest players in it's day and gave the Si of similar generation a run for it's money, having more HP + TQ and weighing only a few lbs more.
I have been asking for up to speed on focus for so long. There's 4 generations man its time for up to speed on ford focus! And the resurgence of ST and RS from the ashes. They have euro and us versions there so much stuff they could talk about. focus so underrated imo. I love my ZX4.
Was hoping you’d make a bigger deal of the Terminator. That car is a legend. Still to this day when I see one I smile like I did the year I graduated...2003
9:53 I will have to correct your error on the SN95. For '94 and '95, the SN95 Mustang had these 3 engine options: A 3.8L v6 that was replacing the 2.3L Lima, the Windsor 5.0L that's in the GT, and the SVT Cobra 5.0L that was carried over from the 3rd gen. In fact the SN95, especially early-on in its generation, was nothing more but a continuation of the Foxbody Mustang. It wasn't until 1996 when Ford had to meet a federal OBD2 requirement so they deployed the 2v 4.6L Modular to replace the 5.0L. However, SVT also introduced a DOHC 4v 4.6L Modular that made over 300 horsepower but no IRS. The rest you're good on.

10:00....the 94 and 95 SN95 mustang gts all got the 5.0L, The 4.6L was then put in from 96-98 and on. Also the 95 cobra R had the 351 Windsor based motor in it from the lightning

I have the pleasure and displeasure of owning a 2002 Ford Focus SVT. It’s fun to have but not for the feint of heart. Parts can be scarce and regular focus parts don’t fit it. So if you find one. Make sure it has a newer timing belt tensioner. If it breaks, good luck finding one of the 10 that still exist (not sure if that’s accurate, but it seems that way, you seriously can’t find these)
Oh, common, not even all motorcycles rev that high, specially big V-twins and single cylinder bikes. Over 8000 rpms is pretty high for a production car engine short of Hondas S2000 and other crazy engines.
A 4 valve 4.6 will rev to 8 grand stock if the rev limiter is removed. Lots of car engines can. They won't make any power up that high stock so there is no point.

Just wanted to point out that the 2000 Cobra R's 5.4 isn't the same as the lightning's "without the blower". Its a completely different engine, with 4v heads and way higher compression. Otherwise, this was an awesome video! Nice to see the 99 cobra get some love 😁
An episode of up to speed on the Ford Falcon would be awesome 👍
*I couldn’t work out how to fasten my seatbelt.*
Then it clicked.
*inhales* BOI
We just gonna act like you didn’t have a heart attack?!
7:05 I wish today's car ads were this catchy.
Please do a show about the Focus SVT specifically. I was excited to see your title but the video had almost no information about the Focus.
Agreed, I was expecting to see more about the SVT Focus. As far as the tuner hatchbacks, it was one of America's biggest players in it's day and gave the Si of similar generation a run for it's money, having more HP + TQ and weighing only a few lbs more.
@@kwbalance108 indeed, I've owned mine for a couple years and love it. The best fwd car I've driven. Not real fast but fun and practical.
I inherited my dads, which he bought new. Its an amazing little car. Not too fast, but has handling so good I almost dont care
I have been asking for up to speed on focus for so long. There's 4 generations man its time for up to speed on ford focus! And the resurgence of ST and RS from the ashes. They have euro and us versions there so much stuff they could talk about. focus so underrated imo. I love my ZX4.
Thomas Kanalu there is an up to speed on the ford focus...
Miss my SVT Contour. Thanks for representing! Shoutout to the Contour.org bois
Hell yeah dude. I have a Sport LX now, but I want to get an SVT.
Was hoping you’d make a bigger deal of the Terminator. That car is a legend. Still to this day when I see one I smile like I did the year I graduated...2003
Was really hoping they’d go over the ‘95 cobra R...😭 EDIT: Oh so we gonna act like the ‘96 Mystic Cobra didn’t exist and the ‘04 was the only one
Same
He did go over it at 9:30
@@jac18 that's the 93
The 95 is a white sn95
Jose Cisneros lol
Yeah the 95 cobra R had a 351 in it. One of my favorite cobra R.
Why does donut not have 10 million subs yet. It definitely deserves 10 mil.
7:10 that American flag radio antenna is legendary
Some of the best vehicles I think ever glad you mentioned like ford gt, ford lightning, 2000 set cobra r and raptor all great vehicles
James is looking good and all full of vital hrspers to promote good heart health.
Seriously Vicious Tomatoes- James 2020
Didn’t know you had a heart attack, truly pray for your health, you’re a great soul.
Jose Vega u been under a rock 😂
Basically cuz of the Nos energy drink he was drinking. Why do you think Donut isn't sponsoring NOS anymore
@@miguelochoa2103 Yeah that's not true at all. James said in his Instagram post after his heart attack that it was a combination of genetic predisposition, poor diet, and having been a 15 year smoker.
@@miguelochoa2103 No, that was just a (kind of hilarious coincidence) 200mg of caffeine isnt giving anyone a heart attack.
It was just really bad and hilarious timing.
I had an 02' Sonic Blue SVT Focus and it was an awesome little car. Probably the best sounding 4cyl motor out there. IMO.
Now introducing: swiffer staybars
(It’s just a swiffer rod)
I always loved the Terminator, has that mean look.
11:55 It’s Leonard Evans Used Car Dealership located in Wenatchee, WA.
"SVT" isn't a thing anymore its all under Ford Performance now
Funny, you walk into a Ford dealer right now pop open a hood of any sick 5.0 and somewhere... just somewhere... your still find a good old "SVT" on it ;)
It's really dumb that they keep changing the name.
Now my 10 year old Valve covers are out date. :D
@@kyleroberts6619 that's actually really cool
Yea. Same goes for the focus st which is the spiritual successor the the svt:)
Fun fact: SVT actually helped with the development of the 7th gen Fiesta ST (and I believe Focus ST as well)
But they may be the last SVT passenger cars we see sadly...
10:00....the 94 and 95 SN95 mustang gts all got the 5.0L, The 4.6L was then put in from 96-98 and on. Also the 95 cobra R had the 351 Windsor based motor in it from the lightning
Love the "chapter" style :D
gotta say guys, the SHO is seriously my all time favorite car. I daily drive a 90' model, and I honestly just love this car, so I'm really glad we got, like, a 3rd time mentioning the SHO on the channel. Hopefully it gets more young people interested and buying them up so I get some newer information to see how to fix mine instead of looking at forums from 2006 lmao
So sad the sn95 didn't get talked about more. I have a 96 cobra and was pumped to hear about them
I really do love James, I’ve been watching the podcast with my ears and I’m feeling pretty pumped on that it gets me through some workdays! I’m gunna need the two hour episode about Manufactures working together to build vehicles for war effort as much as I need a episode of up to speed on James dad!!!
13:17 “this thing wasn’t meant to haul just sheet rock!”
He’s gonna say it
“It was meant to haul”
Here it is!
“BOOTY!”
Not quite what I expected but LOL all the same
I saw a mystic chrome mustang like the one they show at 17:01 once and it was beautiful best color ford has put on a car
I own a contour, so I'm happy
SVT version?
I love how many times James has to remind us how very very impressive something was at the time. I am braindead now because of all of these 1000+ horsepower cars
Science Garage, when?
We want to see Bart on 2020, we missed him
I wonder where he be after he had his kid
He left donut

@@mindedrobin6856 HE LEFT?!? I actually really enjoyed him, and I liked his stuff the most. That's really crappy to hear. :/
“this is all for you blue oval babies” *plugs corvette*
I literally worked on that c8 stingray today, came in as a used car and the dude only put 1000 miles on it. Worked on the Z06 c8 from last year and 1 looked way cleaner and 2 actually came in a manual. I understand this one’s with the mid engine they just started doing but it just doesn’t make up for the rest of the negatives that come with ot

If you look at the progress bar you'll see that there's a title that matches the chapters

8:57 made my day 😛😂
A few mistakes and missed details but great video guys.
-SVO mustang was a 2.3lt not 2.4 ( it was half the 4.6lt modular v8 not the 5.0)
-Recalled 1999 Cobras were recalled and some made theyre way to Tickford Australia and remain one of the rarest sn95 mustangs. (you can see many Unique Australian saftey changes. eg side blinkers and foldable side mirrors.)
-1998 Cobra R had a 5.8lt
Ect ect
We need a Ford Australia video. Falcons, Territories and turbo whoosh sounds
agreed the Falcon needs to be done
The SHO rev limit (7500 I think) was due to the accessory drive, rather than internal engine concerns.
And the fact the SHO engine wasn’t making power up there
My dad has an 03’ terminator (550 to the wheel) and our neighbor had one of those mystic paints on theirs, sadly they moved out eventually, was to young to notice how cool it was
LOVED THIS EPISODE!!! Of course being a Ford Guy forever...had the first year Taurus SHO...was DEFINITELY a love hate relationship...CREDIT to Ford...at 50k miles and burning up the first clutch at a mere 5k miles...they took it back as a Lemon here in CA! Then I had a ‘98.5 Contour...LOVED that sleeper!!! Thank you for reminding me of cars I had almost forgotten!!! By the way...I defected to Dodge in 2007...WHY? THE MAGNUM SRT8!!!! PLEASE do a cast on that AMAZING BEAST of a “station wagon”!!!!!!! Sadly not even 3 full years in production ☹️ Can personally verify my ‘06 STOCK....WAS capable and surpassed the factory stated top speed of 172MPH!!!! A STATION WAGON!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
“2.4” “the 5.0 instead of the 4.6”. You’re better than this James.
As an avid SVO owner, hearing 2.4 instead of 2.3 hurt my feelings. SMH.
Didn’t even mention the 1995 Cobra R or SVT ZX5.
I heard his say that about the sn95 and went lookin for a comment 😂😂 the Windsor 5.0 wasn’t seen again after the 4.6 2v new edge
Didn’t mention the 4V Teksid engine the 96-98.
@@Wood2323Hood it's definitely splitting hairs a bit but, come on now Donut folks it's a pretty easy Google search if you don't know the data
I have the pleasure and displeasure of owning a 2002 Ford Focus SVT. It’s fun to have but not for the feint of heart. Parts can be scarce and regular focus parts don’t fit it. So if you find one. Make sure it has a newer timing belt tensioner. If it breaks, good luck finding one of the 10 that still exist (not sure if that’s accurate, but it seems that way, you seriously can’t find these)
James: "RPM rumored to be as high as 8500"
Me: Confused in motorcycle
Oh, common, not even all motorcycles rev that high, specially big V-twins and single cylinder bikes. Over 8000 rpms is pretty high for a production car engine short of Hondas S2000 and other crazy engines.
A 4 valve 4.6 will rev to 8 grand stock if the rev limiter is removed. Lots of car engines can. They won't make any power up that high stock so there is no point.
Day 8 of asking James to do an Up to Speed on Royal more powwaaaa babyyy Enfield.
Yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
