I know what you mean... She just the ability to inspire. She could talk about throwing away trash and how she does it and leave you feeling like 🤣... "I'm gonna throw away trash like that 🙋💁
I'm Mexican. What I've seen from your videos is that the flour tortillas you need to let its rest after forming the balls. Don't use press that's for corn tortillas only. Use the roller bin or whatever its called when rolling out the dough or ball, don't flip the dough just rotate to form the tortillas, and use hot water when mixing. Finally, make sure the dough is well knead.
Hi my name is odalis Reynaga I saw ur video I recommend buying maseca for tortillas and adding warm water not cold and a tortilla presser that will help u to make good tortillas u will find the tortilla presser at a Hispanic store.
Sarah about the tortillas, I think you showed in a previous haul that you had bought corn flour. You need masa harina to make tortillas, it's corn that has been nixtamilized, a long word to say lime treated. I have made this error in the past as well. You can grab small bags of masa harina, Bob's or Maseca at any grocery store. Other than cornbread and mixing into pancakes I haven't found many uses for corn flour but it's inexpensive and you can share with friends, it also freezes well. I would recommend using a tortilla press, makes quick work of pressing a big bowl of masa!
thank you for this info - I thought that they were the same thing. I went to google and laughed when they said that corn flour will not work at all when making tortillas. That explains my epic failure. Great advice.
When I hear you say that you are not eating preservatives, my heart leaps with joy. That is the most beautiful thing you can do for the family in terms of food. I noticed a long time ago that whenever I didnt feel so good after eating something, there was ALWAYS preservatives. Those chemicals preserve fod by killing bacteria, and then they get into you and kill all of your happy friendly bacteria. No thank you.
Every month I watch basically the same grocery haul as last month and yet here I am happy to watch your haul again. I could probably write your list for you now🤣
We started about 6 yrs ago to eat mostly 1Ingredient foods. I was told 10 yrs ago I have Celiac disease & gluten free foods have so much added crap in them but they have gotten much better
With the tortilla dough you need to knead until very smooth then form into balls. Rest the dough for about 15 mins covered with a damp towel. This will stop the rolled tortilla from shrinking when you roll. Also use very little additional flour while rolling. No over handling of the dough. Good luck!
I don’t know if someone said this already but Costco sells a 2 pack (28 oz each) of Kirkland brand peanut butter for $9.99 that only has peanuts and salt.
Oh may. If I had to cook for a family of 12 every day I would not have the energy to food shop and post videos. You are an inspiration. What a beautiful family!
My daughter is allergic to sugar and tonnes of stuff has it (even the no sugar added items will have corn syrup etc). We have had to go to one food items as well. There are days where I miss being able to throw a frozen pizza in the oven. However, cutting out processed foods means we have more money to spend on quality items.
I have decided to not have white flour, rice etc.. ever again. My gut is much better since switching to brown rice and whole wheat flour. And you have inspired me to encourage the kids to snack on fruits more often and meal planning is definitely in my future, preping not yet LOL
Sarah you have really inspired me & my family to eat healthier & I was even telling my neighbor about it & she was saying she wanted to also thank you for setting an example loved Destiny's smile & laugh
On our occasional stops at Dollar Tree we always look for Himalayan pink salt. They have small pink bags that are one pound near the spices. They are often on the bottom shelf and we really have to look for them. It is a good brand so we always keep a bunch on hand since it is the only salt we eat.
It's time for you guys to get some back yard hens. Good fun for the kids and good fresh eggs as well. I grow my own garlic every year. It's really easy to grow. My husband and I have started looking at these ingredients as well now thanks to your videos. We haven't completely taken the leap but we are making some small changes.
Wow $5 for all those mangos 🥭 that’s awesome. I’m in Australia and usually pay $3 each or more and there grown here and that’s what we pay when there in season.
Have you ever considered roasting your bulk garlic and freezing to add roasted garlic for your recipes? So easy and adds so much flavor. I've found it to be a real time saver. And lasts quite a long time too. Personally, I roast with olive oil and sea salt then freeze the roasted cloves separately on a cookie sheet. Bag up and keep on the freezer door near the stove.
I had problems making sprouted grain bread also. What I read was that you needed to perfect sprouted bread/ baked goods with store bought sprouted flour first, then tweak your recipe with your own flour. I also heard that you could make sprouted rolls with less failure than whole loaves of bread. Flour Tortillas need an acid or dough conditioner in the dough to have success with home milled flour. I make a dough conditioner from wheat gluten, citric acid & ground ginger & pectin. Just look up a few recipes online.
If you go to the grocery store and buy a large bag of cilantro seeds that used for cooking and plant the seeds in the garden and grow them to save $$$ Get basil seeds and plant then too it will also save $$$ We also grow Jalapeños and other Mexican chilies
As far as Parmesan crisps all you need to do to make them is sprinkle little mounds of it on a cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 5-10 mins or until you can smell them. Take them out and let them cool and you have parm crisps. You can do this with other cheeses as well. One tip that I like to do is using a muffin tin. You put your piles in it and they are preformed. You can also cover the whole baking sheet with parm and once baked break it into chunks. (use a silpat or parchment paper to save yourself from cheese melt mess)
@@sandawise79 There you go! I always tend to make them on top of my nachos, not intentionally. Lol It's a fine line between melted and cooked to oblivion. 🤦🏼♀️😩🤯
About the peanut butter, you can make it really easy at home, and peanuts are less expensive. You just need to blend them at high speed with a tablespoon of olive or coconut oil and maple syrup (if you want), after a few minutes the peanuts will start releasing the oil and be creamy. its so good and homemade. Love from Portugal. I dont even have kids and love your videos.
I listen very hard to what you are saying. You are a amazing woman! My gosh your running a company. I’m serious. I know your passing down to your kids knowledge so they won’t be wondering what am I going to do.....when on their own. Br proud! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
If you don't mind a suggestion :) Kirkland olive oil is known to be pure olive oil, as opposed to some other brands which use other fillers etc. veg or other types of oil.
Sometimes I'll take small flour tortillas and put the shredded coleslaw mix and a slice of avocado with a drizzle of Italian dressing. A light lunch but tasty
Hi ave u finished your kitchen make over as I see the cupboards over the sink has gone would love to see it. As usual your grocery halls are always great an I feel it when u say u dont wont to keep going to the shops. Have ablessed month an little man is walking wow 🙏🙏🙏👍
I have the same with garlic. Here in Holland I buy Spanish ones but last summer a farmer near us sold fresh garlic. Well that was so yummy, a real eyeopener😊
You can plant the basil plant. It is not as easy as sticking the plant you got from the store in some dirt. You would need to separate out the different stems because they are overcrowded in the store package. You can overwater basil, so you need to watch that, too. I would look up how to keep store-bought basil alive. My husband and I are trying it.
You are so inspiring. I really need to change my family’s eating. Must try something new. This just might be the way. Thank you. Please continue to post. You are teaching me so much.
We buy the big bags of garlic from Sam’s too. I leave half fresh and then I roast the rest of them to preserve in extra virgin olive oil. I use through the month in recipes and then use garlic infused oil for dressings/marinades. It’s like garlic candy, so so yummy! 😋
You mentioned Tori likes fried Mushrooms for breakfast. It would be an interesting video to see the 5/6 oldest make their favorite meal with Mom or Dad and tell why they like it.
Mom goals ❤️ My first baby is due in September and I hope I can be like you. Raise an amazing family, healthy, passionate in their values. Your kids are just amazing and so true to themselves.
You were talking about peanut butter...it is super easy to make your own nut butters. Maybe you have already been down that road and decided against it, but....I order organically grown nuts in bulk, and then make the nut butters from them. We make about 4 jars every couple of weeks. If you are interested I can tell you how I do it. Love watching your videos! God bless you guys!
We purchase Latitude 45 Smoke Salmon from Walmart, around $4.35 a bag. Thinly slice for Sushi rolling, bagels or bowls. Great once a month shopping trip.
In my little bit of dough knowledge, if your dough is not pliable and is shrinking, let it rest for about ten minutes (covered so it won't dry out). Not sure how this works on other types of flour but with all purpose or bread flour it does the trick. Then handle the dough again and it should be more forgiving.
Sarah-just getting around to watching this video today since you are currently taking a mini break. Our family misses you! FYI Kroger’s has natural delicious peanut butter for only $1.79 just peanuts and salt. Not sure if you have a Kroger’s but there is creamy and natural. We eat it for Keto.
Simply mama cooks on you tube has a few videos on making tortillas but she probably is using white flour not wheat. She is hispanic and her husband is Korean. Lots of other recipes too. But you or the older kids might check it out for some tips for the tortillas. We usually order grains from a co-op type situation twice a year. Another family takes orders for many people and we pick ours up.. Blessings.
One thing that has worked for me for tortillas is, replace most of the water with milk instead, baking powder, and enough cooking oil in the dough.... And let the dough rest for even an hour before making it.
Destiny is the cutest! I look forward to your videos every month. I have no children and definitely do not eat like you guys but I just love watching you and your family ❤

It’s so good to have that emergency stash because I seen how tough it was for you guys when the pandemic hit. It was a horrible experience with the limits for items.
You can make your own parm crisps. just shred the parm. cheese and the put a little bit (little mounts) on a cookie sheet. it doesn't take long for the cheese to melt. and there you go. you have parm crisps..
Looks great, so fun/conquer feeling! A great easy pliable tortilla(gf and low carb) recipe is with 1c chickpea flour, 1/2 c tapioca starch, 1c water, little sea salt. Cook like crepes. Multiply this recipe 4x or more!!
hi! would you ever consider using a hydroponic system, either bought online or made at home? it would be a great way to educate the kiddos on the plant growth process and engage them with healthy eating, while also providing fresh cheap greens within your home (: im a university student and right now i am growing my own cilantro, sage, basil, parsley, and rosemary in my tiny apartment!
For your tortillas, at Michael’s you can buy a fondant rolling pin, these come with sizing rings that allow you to roll the dough very flat. Make sure your dough is well floured on both sides. We make tortillas on the flat side of an iron griddle
I was going to buy baked beans then read the label. Today is the day to try and make a tasty batch. Thank heavens for the instant pot and beans cooked in 40 minutes.
Sarah, there is a great video by “Views on the Road” for homemade tortillas. She shares her family’s recipe, which is absolutely delicious! A tedious process, but it is a staple in our home. Blessings!
thank you for this link - she explains the whole process so well and her tortillas look just like the store bought ones. Finally a video that is easy to follow and very well explained.
Love these hauls so much. It's so interesting to see different groceries in different countries compared to the UK! You have a beautiful family ❣️ take care. X
Sarah- thank you so much for the video about the garlic. I ran to my fridge and was happy to see that my Trader Joe’s peeled garlic is grown in California 😊
I'm catching up on videos. I haven't been on RUclips as much. Lately I've been buying more food upfront. It keeps me out of the stores. I'm a single mom of a almost 4 year old and as you know taking young kids into the store makes you be in there a lot longer. Though the downfall of me buying stuff the first few days of the month is I dont actually have the space for it, so a lot of stuff tends to sit on the floor. I applaud you making all of that from scratch. I could never do it.i like to bake but not that much
This was a great video. I am in a season of cooking from all whole foods or one ingredient foods now too. It’s great to watch how you do it, keeping a well stocked pantry, meal planning, prep cooking on weekends, good storage in freezer etc. It’s not always easy to make all of your own food but it is really satisfying. You are inspiring me with the bread, I’m not sure I will ever make my own. Thanks for the reminders about checking ingredients, sometimes I forget to check and let ingredients creep back in without realizing it. I also aim for vegan and oil free. You have me thinking about trying to switch to a monthly shop instead of weekly. I eat so much produce so I thought it may be tough but you’re making it work. Thanks again! Love watching your family!
Have you tried the cook at home Tortillaland tortillas? They have them at Costco. It is not single ingredient, but it only has organic what flour, water, organic canola oil, salt, and organic cane sugar. No preservatives. They are delicious!
Don’t have kids, don’t want kids, I eat like crap . Yet I’m obsessed with this channel
Same though 😬

For your tortillas, at Michael’s you can buy a fondant rolling pin, these come with sizing rings that allow you to roll the dough very flat. Make sure your dough is well floured on both sides. We make tortillas on the flat side of an iron griddle
I was going to buy baked beans then read the label. Today is the day to try and make a tasty batch. Thank heavens for the instant pot and beans cooked in 40 minutes.
Love the cute smiles from Destiny! I hope I have the correct name! She is adorable!
Azure standard has amazing raw cheese that only has enzymes and salt added! You can also get raw honey by the gallon from them for a great price!
Sarah, there is a great video by “Views on the Road” for homemade tortillas. She shares her family’s recipe, which is absolutely delicious! A tedious process, but it is a staple in our home. Blessings!
I love her channel. So many great recipes.
thank you for this link - she explains the whole process so well and her tortillas look just like the store bought ones. Finally a video that is easy to follow and very well explained.
I love that channel
Love these hauls so much. It's so interesting to see different groceries in different countries compared to the UK! You have a beautiful family ❣️ take care. X
We find organic peanut butter at Costco. There are 2 ingredients salt and peanuts. My location you get 2-28oz jars for $10
Sarah- thank you so much for the video about the garlic.
I could never do it.i like to bake but not that much
My mom had 8,how u all do it,but it's a joy to watch.
Great grocery haul. I'm now looking to incorporate 1 ingredient foods into my families meals. Thanks for inspiring me.
That's great!
I love the trail of strawberry tops around the table
Have you tried the cook at home Tortillaland tortillas? They have them at Costco. It is not single ingredient, but it only has organic what flour, water, organic canola oil, salt, and organic cane sugar. No preservatives. They are delicious!
