    Nice truck and great job for restoring a classic 1st Gen 4runner. I have a 85 myself and it was a rust bucket but did work on it little at a time and people asking if it is for sale and I say nope. I will probably hand it down to my grandson for his college days his only 4 right now. Thanks for sharing!

    Nice job. I build my own a little be more beefy lockers front an rear, double transfer case, all the suspension from trail gear. Old gen Toyota are awesome machines. Young peoples like you should feel very proud specially if you doing most of the work yourself. It is a ton of work involved. When I build my own I almost give up in the middle of the build, but I was able to complete my task. My first run was the Rubicon. What a great experience. Go for it my friend you will love it. 👍🏾👍🏾

    I have an 82 4x4 pick-up that I bought brand new in 1982 ! I she's been with me though thick & thin, and never failed me ! Keep it going, you'll be happy in the end when you remember all the good times you had with her!

    Love toyo as well. Still have my 97’ I bought new. 485,000 , original engine and tranny. Needs some work. Have a 94’ I got for my daughter, getting ready for paint on that, and finally got a 1st gen, an 86, 2” lift 31’s and it’s great. Will start revamp on that soon. I’m keeping them all. I’m 30 years out of college, got a little more scratch for 4runner’s. Don’t ever let that 85 go. My son is a marine in Okinawa, trying to bring home a hilux surfer, we’ll see, here’s hoping.

    You're right, first gen content is pretty scarce, so thanks for the video, and nice truck!

    Nice walkthrough of a fun rig. Wish you could make CrossBar with us this weekend. There will be other trips, no worries. And we'll find you an RE. Gig'm !

    Love how much of this you did yourself! I have a 1988 and am also on a college budget. I used diamond plate for the back panels as well as the bottom section of the doors. Next I am working on welding rear bumper with a swing arm. It was really helpful seeing yours! I appreciate the video!

    I have an 88’ 4Runner, I bought it stock and I have made so many upgrades to it. I plan on making a video as well because of the lack of 1st Gen builds. Awesome build!
    Btw I was on a College Budget as well

    Good build tho. I'm getting ready to build a 87 4runner that already has solid axle swap dont. And sitting on 38s but built back in the 90s just for mud so redoing it all. Doing 4.3 with auto and dual 6.5:1 samurai cases with 4.88s and 38.5x14.5x15 tsl sx swampers. I hope to make it to mohab the end of summer.

    Nice truck! I have a 1985 4runner SR5 5 speed with the 22re and 5:29 gears TG suspension and it is white, much better condition on the inside and outside than yours. Don't ever sell it.

    On my 4th 4runner. I noticed your bolt under the front bumper is loose. I assume it is one for your winch.

    • @randallschank3566
      @randallschank3566  3 года назад +1

      Ya i didn't plan out the mounting holes for the winch perfectly, so those holes go through the weld where the top plate overlaps the c channel, and there's a step right where the bolt is. Not my finest work but the bolt is tight, and the winch hasn't come off under load yet😅

    Would It be wise if I trade for my 2007 tacoma access cab 2.7 basic 2wd for a 86 4runner.??? Both are in great shape

      Totally up to you but I absolutely would. The first gen is perfect cause it has a full truck bed and a second row of seats when folded up. Even the ifs is plenty capable and a ton of fun off-road.
