Awesome video as always Hourless Life. This remote border crossing was epic I can only imagine how much y'all were praying the whole time on the ruff parts of that road. Drive safe and stay safe. Prayers for y'all on the rest of y'all's journey around the world.
Christopher, our prayer life has dramatically increased on this journey. In a more mature understanding of the depth of our dependence. Treasure your prayers as always and we feel them! ~ Eric
Well … I don’t envy all the driving…but live your journey. So what’s a little adventure through back roads to get to the best border crossing yet. And Happy Birthday Caspian!
A little adventure through the backroads? Haha Haila. If you had only been there. So much gets missed on video. But thankfully we made it! Always appreciate you and your humor. ~ Eric
I just drove back and forth from Lima to Oxapampa last week. Very similar terrain. I took the wrong advice on our return and ended up on a dirt road for 150km. The route from Oxapampa to Canta was nothing but rain. The switchbacks are the most nerve wracking when the road is narrow. You honk your horn as you approach and go around tight curves so any oncoming cars can hear you. Last year I did the same trip and as I was on a downgrade a semi heading up decided to pass on a curve which made me have to slam on the breaks. From that point all the way to Lima I had no brakes. The pads had crystallized. That's freaking scary. I had to use my hand break the rest of the trip. By the way, I gave my 91 Jeep Cherokee Limited the nickname "Gold Digger". Every time I turn around she wants money. HAHA. I live in Lima. I will be traveling to Arequipa for Christmas. I love Peru!
Glad you made it through your brakes crystalizing. We will be heading back to Lima in early January and then making our way towards Cusco and Arequipa. ~ Eric
3:15 Today in every Ecuadorean forum: "We were driving down the Pan-American and saw some yanks eating lunch in the middle of the road. WHAT THE HELL?!?!" 😀
It's funny the amount of comments we get from locals on our Instagram. "Hey we just saw you at ____ thanks for visiting my country! Love your Jeep!" ~ Eric
LOL The Patreon supporters get "the rawest emotions"? So how long was that fight on Patreon? Did Britney hit you on the head with the frying pan? I'm joining!!! 😀
We've built a special relationship with our Patreon subscribers, year after year, country after country and continent after continent. They DEFINITELY get a deeper look into what our journey is like. With as communicative as you are here, I think you'd like it. But hey, check it out. Totally free to take a look. Happy to have you. ~ Eric
