Hi, thanks for all videos, they are fantastic and you and Tarka are great people. I am about to come to Kriti June next year and spend some time near Spili. I would like to hike Pachnes which is not that easy accessible with a regular car from that side. I have following plan. I want to go to Agios Ioannis via Chora Sfakion and Aradena and leave the car there. Then I want to go with a trail towards Pirou Mitato. First I want to climb a peak of Zaranokefala which is a great viewing point I read. From there, I could go with trail via Mitato and close to Katsiveli Refuge and then south to Pachnes but this is a very long route. So from the top of Zaranokefala I want to go without trail towards Pachnes west / south-west slopes as straight as the terrain let me not to lose or gain too much elevation without reason. I know I need to avoid swallow-holes but I guess the terrain should be hikeable. From Pachnes I want to go back same way without reaching the top of Zaranokefala again because there is no reason. Just to shorten the way to marked trail. I am experienced hiker with a good orientation in terrain and good stamina. I have Lefka Ori Pachnes paper map 1:25000 from Anavasi. Can you tell me if me plan is ok in your opinion? Thank you very much, send my best to Tarka. Take care PS. I have been only once in Greece so far, in Peloponissos (east side). Would be fantastic to see that on your videos someday. Maybe you are planning to go there :) Regards, Sławek from Poland
Thank you Slawek! To be honest i'm not so familiar with the southwestern part of White Mountains. Been to Pachnes only from Rousies but the trail you describe sounds exciting! Looking in Wiciloc i found this trail that looks more or less like what you want to achieve. el.wikiloc.com/oreibasia-diadromes/zaranokefala-and-pachnes-2016-05-14-13375320 In the description you will see it's tough and sketchy but it can be done. If meanwhile i find more information, will let you know. You never know. Sounds like something i would also like to do.

Hi, thanks for the informative video. We are arriving on the end of May on the Chania airport. Which mountain would you recommend, is there going to be snow during the end of May and first week June on the mountains?
Thank you for your comment. By that time snow will not be a problem for any mountain. Depends on where you will stay. If you are around Heraklio, Psiloritis is much closer. If you are in Rethimno or Chania, you can go to either. Psiloritis in general is easier to access.
Sir, you have fantastic videos about my favourite place on Earth - Crete. My question is, how fit one has to be to conquer those summits? I've got impression that Pachnes is easier but it is more difficult to reach te starting point by car. Is there anyone in Chania who offers guidenance and transport to at least one of those peaks?
Thank you! To be honest i haven't heard of a guided tour to either of the mountains. Some groups/clubs of Chania go up now and then. I guess you could rent a jeep to drive to Pachnes.

Been to both in summer and/or autumn. There is still snow.on both for now. It might last for a couple of weeks more. If there is still snow, it won't be a problem to approach Psiloritis but it will be a problem to drive close to Pachnes.
Thank you for your comment. I'm really glad they helped. If you liked Pachnes, you should hike more on the White Mountains, on some other peaks. That place never fails to amaze me. Will post more videos from there soon.
The people at Anopoli rooms in Anopoli will take you as close to Pachnes as you can go. I was up there in late September this year, it was amazing. Will go back next year!
Wow ! It looks like a dessert and the rock formations are amazing !
Also big thanks to Argos who did both climbs without complaining. Great vid!
Argos is the man! Oh wait... 😁
Great edition and information. Thanks for sharing. Good luck always 🥰🙏🍀

I was thinking about psiloritis-thank u
Whichever suits you more. :)

So many Good hikes there!! U Should make video about your favourite
It's the video i'm working on right now!
This year I was at Psiloritis. I hope one day to Pachnes too, but I don `t know how to come there.
Hope you make it. It's a different planet. You will need a jeep or at least a car that is a bit higher and can go on dirtroad.
Εξαιρετική δουλειά, συγχαρητήρια 👌👍
Ευχαριστώ!
Love this video, thank you!

Psiloritis :)
big thanks for this video
Thank you!
Psiloritis is a beautiful peak, but Pachnes and White Mountains, are a totally different planet.
Exactly. I love Lefka Ori! But for a lot of people, Psiloritis is more appealing as it may be closer and/or feel easier.

True 😁😁😁

We got there with my friend's jeep but we saw a French couple with an old Clio... I wouldn't recommend it though.
