- In this video I'm hiking the Aradena gorge , in Crete, Chania prefecture, to the incredible secluded Marmara bay, and then taking a boat over to the picturesque beach of Loutro.
This gorge is less well known than the popular Samaria gorge. I think it's just as beautiful and you don't have to deal with crowds which is a massive bonus, so I highly recommend hiking this gorge when visiting Crete!

Hi I’m born in Agii Apostoli Chania 4 km west of the city. I live in Montréal Canada over 57 years but I have been visiting Chania every years the last 15 years and I had told my friends and family that I will hike the Samaria gorge before my 60th birthday so I kept my wish and in 2015 on my 2 weeks vacation in July on my 60th made history to hike the Samaria gorge in 7 hours under extreme hot Cretan sun and had no idea of the dangerous slippery narrow paths and I didn’t imagine the unforgettable experience I had that day in July 17, 2015. Watching this video and my third of your visit in Crete find the Aradena gorge more challenging and dangerous for people that have knee problems than the Samaria gorge..I’m new subscriber from Montréal Canada my next visit to Chania Crete that now I’m retired March 2023 for 2-3 months. You made the hike of Aradena gorge look smooth and simply..thank you for visiting Crete and sharing your experience

I think you have to hike back up or take a boat round then get a taxi back up, I might be wrong! We just got a bus there then took the boat back.
