I read Dracula in September and enjoyed it a lot although it drags on a bit at times. I was hoping the narrative would take us back to the castle as the first few chapters are the best, so that was anticlimactic. I've been thinking about the gendered aspects of the narrative and I love how you describe the count as camp.
yeah, i completely agree that the first part is the most interesting, and there were many bits that went on and on (that i skimmed through). I was also surprised at how overtly erotic it was, I thought it would be much more prude - I guess i fell into the trap of imagining the past as puritanical and shy.
@@ZiggiWillpower Oh yes there was that erotic thread running throughout and I started imagining that the main protagonists were all in some kind of poly arrangement together, which made the novel even better!
