Nice review, detailed as always! Around me it’s 499.00-599.00 in every store! Today I walked into a gas station and they sold it to me for 145.00 Cheers!
The Sagamore Double Oak Rye around $65 or so is an absolute beast if you haven’t checked it out yet. The sherry finished rye for like $70 absolutely stomps out Midwinters and is always in stock at my local Total Wine.
Just saw Minnick go orgasmic over the Makers 11/12 year and, God bless him, he earned that. Are you going to go that route when Elijah Craig releases the barrel proof rye?
There was a big Weller drop last week in IL and while everyone was frantically getting 107, FP and CYPB, there were 2 of these bad boys laying around and I was more than happy to scoop it. Very excited to dig in once this stupid cold finally goes away.
Picked one up Friday for 80$. I can’t express this enough! Build a strong relationship with your local business owners. Show up weekly and often. Make sure they know you appreciate their business & don’t just show up when on days the distribution company delivers. You look like an asshole.
I know on the first crack on mine I was getting Chocolate, Caramel and something else that I was having a hard time identifying then started leaning toward a Twix candy bar. That was a week and a half ago. Probably going to go back to it soon and see how much it changed. Also my bottle number of the one I have opened is HBR-20177!!!!
This never happens to me. I went into Total Wine trying to get my first bottle of JDSBBP Rye. They had just sold out. They did however have one bottles of this twice barrelled heritage rye they'd been holding for someone, but they allowed me to buy it! I finally opened it last night. It was good - chocolatey with coffee notes. Glad I got it for retail. I'm happy to have this unique taster, but also glad to have other ryes that were around the same price or less. By the way, I did finally find a JDSBBP Rye!
I probably won’t get to taste this one, but I have to say your reviews are awesome. I can’t think of a time where you’ve “steered me wrong “with a Great Bourbon. shout out to Queens. I was born in Astoria.🤙
Jason, great review and comparison to the 2020 Special Release. And giving alternatives is very helpful. Agreed the Sagamore DO is a beautiful pour and value. Cheers!!
Man, it sucks that you're already getting the special release while the St. Louis market still hasn't even seen the regular SBBP Rye...probably means we won't see that release at all, or not until December.
Crazy that they have a special release rye coming out and my area STILL doesn't have the SBBP Ryes. Can I just get a damn bottle of this rye already. Finding a twice barreled single malt at MSRP was easier than finding the SBBP rye.
Great review. I'm still trying to find snit bottle of the SBBP Rye. I went through mine in 3 weeks, and now I'm out. I'll never be able to get this one, so I appreciate that you give options to it. I love Sagamore Double Oak. I got 2 last time I was in Florida. I wish it was higher proofed.
Still waiting for the rye to drop in my area. The SBBP is now sitting on the shelf after the run when it first hit here. I'm not a Jack drinker but I am interested in these SB. Enjoy!!
Great review, finally got my hands on the barrel proof rye it was a tore pick and it was awesome. Can someone help me out with references to those stemmed glasses?
Great review Jason! You got some of the Distillery Series High Toast Oak 375mls right? Super curious how this compares to those Distillery Series releases.
The Penelope Toasted Rye is probably another alternative. I know is only a 5y but it also comes in at 100p or the Hughes Belle of Bedford Toasted Rye which is a 6y above 100p
@@rrkaminski9 regular SBBP is getting harder to find. My total wine hasn't had the 750ml bottles in almost a year., just the 375's. The only bottles I'm finding are older bottlings at small gas station liquor stores where they've been sitting a year or 3.

Great review. What about the Peerless Double Oak Rye? I love it at about $105

It’s crazy that this just hit Maryland. 3 months later ….
Outside of Old #7 , love JD products.
Had the choice yesterday of this or Penelope Rio. Decided to pick the Rio.
Appreciate the review. Store down the street from me has it for $500. Ain't going to pay that. :)
Sigh. The whiskey tubes are a weird experience. So many whiskeys that might as well be from Yavin 4. Still love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Just saw it for $89. Should have grabbed it? Trying trying trying to manage my bourbon budget.
By far my favourite whiskey tuber. Keep it up! Massive bourbon fan from England 😊
Love you bro, come to America sometime :)
What is that old forester 1915 back there? I can’t find anything about it online except for mixing 1910 and 1920.

Just got two for $100 ea!
I found a case of this at a store today!!!! I went ahead and bought 2 bottles, looking forward to trying it.

got one for $60, very lucky to get it at that price

Damn I want this and that glass! Funny enough I was planning on snagging the Sagamore DO this weekend.
Got one today for 80. Sounds great
I know this is from a while ago but I have a Peerless double oaked Rye. Love it!
Last review we all got to make a buck but cmon bro cheesy watches leads to less watches
How strange they went down from 750ml to 700ml
Is it worth $250 though? Thats what i see it for.

Gotta love Jack and Rye on the same label. Double oaked is even better.
What about peerless double oaked rye?
That's a good one!
I picked up one of these for $95. After tasting I bought another. Same price. Definitely worth that for me, without question.
😂 then to compare to the other mythical unicorn that no one but RUclipsrs have. Killing me but this love ur vids. Retail? Omg 😱
Solid review. Got one for $90 yesterday. Looking forward to opening it
in the collection along with the white dog, rested & 2020. also just got the bonded rye. not bad. looking forward to the SBBP Rye.

Thanks for the review. Just found a bottle yesterday at MSRP.

I cracked a bottle last weekend and finished it off in 2 days with a couple buddies, glad I have a backup, it is delicious.
Hey where did you get the of1915 label iv been trying to make a bottle just like that.
Do they ever release these limited release versions at the distillery gift shop?
Yes
I am looking forward to getting the sample of this. WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Thanks for the excellent breakdown. Much appreciated.
Just got one today in michigan for retail. Cant wait to crack it this weekend!

Humble brag of an intro 🤣😂 maybe for those that have access to them haha cheers 🥃

I'll be doing that compare soon. I don't think that's as dark as this one though.
Thanks Jason! Love JD putting out all these special editions! And the bottle is killer beautiful! 🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱🥃
Dang, how you able to get most of these special limited releases from the various distilleries?
No bullshit you tuber Jason
Great channel keep it up man
Are going to give the new single barrel bp rye a second chance and review a different barrel?
Great review! Definitely hoping I can find one of these.
😂 and maybe I’ll get my hands on the lost ark also…
I just picked mine up a few days ago. Cant wait to pop the cork.
Great vid, I’m a player only at retail on this one. 🥃
I’m not a big rye guy but I really enjoy this one. Your livestream review was spot on!
You have the best opening music!
What was your favorite rye release this year?
Sagamore 8 year
Sounds perfect to me.
This or sagamore 8 year?
The Penelope Toasted Rye is probably another alternative. I know is only a 5y but it also comes in at 100p or the Hughes Belle of Bedford Toasted Rye which is a 6y above 100p
What is the best (non special release) rye you have had this year?
Sagamore 8 year
Love your reviews! What glass is that?
Called a stemmed tulip or copita
Love the consistency in your videos. Always can skip the first 4 minutes to get to the actual review and skip the commercials
Love your consistency. You only comment on the videos with sponsors and skip the other ones.
@@TheMashandDrum not true. Trying to stay with someone that hasn’t sold out. Just hard nowadays
So you appreciate his work but are upset he's gaining from it as well. Strange.

yeah, that will be a 399-499 bottle at most places I'll eventually see it. Bah. I can't even find the JD SBBP Rye. All the taters are stock piling it.
Yeah they are
They are trying to make the SBBP rye as widely available as the SBBP so hopefully that'll taper off
I’ve seen several people already get them for Msrp, including myself 👍🏼🔥
