I know nobody gives a shit about what they did with the sensory rooms and special needs handbags at the event. I have a special needs son and it’s an unbelievable feeling to know some of our favorite wrestlers who we follow the closest are the ones who are pioneering this movement. Thank you Cody.
What are sensory rooms? Just wondering.
Maga 1776 sometimes children with special needs get overwhelmed by certain sights and sounds and each kid reacts differently. Sensory rooms are designed to give them the sensation of sight and sound but in a much more controlled environment.
It helps keep children with autism busy doing constructive activities without overloading them.
Speaking as a lifelong, die hard wrestling fan, it’s pretty cool.
Speaking as the father of a wonderful four year old with autism, it means the world.

I'm a fan who stopped watching sometime in the late 90s/early 2000s. I grew up on late 80s/early 90s WCW and that's the stuff I loved. I slipped away from wrestling completely when WCW folded and really just stopped watching.
On the off chance someone might find this interesting I can tell you that there were two things that drew me to AEW and made me pay for the PPV Saturday night. One was Jericho and Kenny because I've heard from sources I respect, like Cornette, that their Japanese match was good and I like Jericho. The number one reason I bought it, though, was Cody vs Dustin.
I have watched the Rhodes family for something like 30 years. Dusty is a legend, Dustin is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time, and Cody just has so much personality. Cody has made an art form out of being his father's son, and it makes me feel good seeing him succeed.

switchbuckle5th ditto. I miss the flair, funk, surfer sting, muta etc era nwa/wcw. And I've only watched minimally since those days ended. But I bought this AEW ppv outta curiosity and I loved it. I'm beyond stoked for the weekly AEW show!

What a show!! Simply amazing! Were there some things that could have been better, of course there was. This show was so good that the few mistakes made are so irrelevant there not even worth mentioning. It's a helluva a time to be both a Wrestler and a Wrestling fan. As far as I'm concerned they knocked it out of the park!!!! It's been twenty years since anything in Wrestling got me excited, I almost forgot what it's like! Six star show!

I've never watched anything other than WWE since WCW went down. I watched this, and I loved it. Didn't know some of the guys and girls, but it didn't matter. It was entertaining and they didn't pander down to the audience. #newfan

Moxley was 100% NOT top secret. He put a whole vignette out and several outlets deciphered it in minutes. People have been talking about him going to AEW before he even finished his contract with WWE.

I love the whole 'do you think WWE is going to punish anyone?' thing. This is exactly why the industry needs AEW. WWE are sitting on their throne thinking they can treat people however they want because no one can touch them, but that's about to change.
I've not been able to watch the whole show, but from what I have seen on RUclips, it was awesome. The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. The production was great. Jim Ross was great. And I thought the main show commentary overall was great, especially for the Cody and Dustin match. Even Jim Ross and Excalibur were crying. This was a very emotional night for Jim Ross as well. To be back in the "game", and to see both of the Rhodes boys go at it, and then hug it out at the end; it was great. I'm happy for JR, and for the whole AEW team. Great show guys!
I thought Alex did fine. There was one spot in between matches during the pre-show where Excalibur looked like he trailed off in thought and Alex picked him up and pitched it to the Cody/Dustin video.

Cody & Triple H have been friends for years. Triple H is secretly rooting for AEW's success cause that'll restart a war. Triple H thinks he already knows how to win that war. He helped actually do that in 2001. Triple H wants AEW on TNT to establish a competing wrestling legacy. He may have given Cody the idea to symbolically smash his throne. This was Starrcade 86', but now, and to the betterment of the entire wrestling business.

I don't understand why so many people were bothered with Omega losing, sure is the first show but 1) Omega had the usual awesome showing people that don't know him will soon get used to 2) they told a lot of times that this was the second meeting for the two of them and Omega won the first. They're tied now and the rubber match is going to happen. I only hope they have mastered the NJPW ability of split people in different programs and making them come back together at the right time, and it looks like they did, because Omega is immediately going a different way wih Moxley and Jericho now will go make Hangman a star.

That battle royal was just too silly for me and all the inside jokes weren't appropriate for a "First" show. Other than that it was really good
I’m not sure what his name is I forget at the moment but that dude with the mask that was in the final 4 of the battle royale caught my eye. I’m hoping AEW does something with him because I really enjoyed his style and what he brought to that match he kinda reminded me of a Aleister Black type style wrestler

Am I looking too much into this? I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but when Moxley threw Omega of the chips it was clearly an FU/AA. Thought immediately that was another shot at WWE.

The PPV was super entertaining. Not sure they'll keep up the momentum if they were doing weekly shows but it's new and cool now. Didn't think much of Rhodes match though, watched at 4x speed and they still moved slow, I just didn't care about the drama because it didn't matter which guy won (made extra obvious when they team up immediately after the match ended). The bucks/lucha tag match was incredible, but mid-way they are billing the next time they meet?! That felt lame.

As a Wrestling fan of twenty years. I want AEW to succeed don't get me wrong. But Tony Khan is gonna have to spend millions and millions of dollars to compete with VKM and WWE. Even with the blah booking and less people watching. The WWE demographic is kindergartners. The hardcore fanbase wants it yes. But Tony Khan doesn't know how the Wrestling Business works I'm sure he's a intelligent and articulate man and he's got some deep pockets. Breakdown the AEW roster they have Ambrose the the third string member of the sheild. An almost 50 year old Jericho. They have every member of the elite besides one. The Biggest draw they have is the guy booking it Cody. Who else Goldust maybe Pac? Yes they have Omega and The Bucks. The Bucks have the Lucha Bros. and the Rhodes Bros... They may have like three solid tag teams and SCU? They don't have GOD, Hardys or Briscoes? The Briscoes/ Bucks are classic matches. Dave's rehashing how Omega can win the AEW Belt by chasing it like he did in NJ. AEW doesn't have Okada, Ibushi Tana to full fill that. Yes they have young talent but whose gonna buy a ticket for a guy named Jungle Boy. MJF is very good I'll give him that. But most these guys on the roster I've never heard of. You have a three man commentary team and ones good and the other two suck. Just get Cornette in there as a commentator with JR and Jake Roberts in there to manage Ambrose because he's bland as fuck. Also I like oriental chicken but I don't give a fuck about oriental wrestling.

I only thing a see missing right now is a top star Japanese wrestlers, and maybe better women wrestlers, but because i know so few of them i cannot say that they will not become great women, which Keyley Ray and Baker have huge potential. My first match seeing Ray and i loved it. Maybe stealing Asuka from WWE would be a major sign if they can make it. Actually, Asuka and Nakamura would thick the boxes that i'm asking for. I wonder how the BTE guys will manage the roster, they have a lot of influence, they are the reason that i'm excited for start watching regularly all over again. but if they start having all the main event spots every paper view, i will start doubting the leadership of AEW. But i'm very positive about the future of AEW. I just hope they don't become WCW and start hiring very wrestler in the world, the reason a i stopped wrestling is because of blandness of wwe's creative.

production was fine. announcing was mostly trash. 6 woman tag match was horrible. other than those things, and clear cooperation in certain spots, this was a good show. lets not get carried away and act like it was perfect. and I wish Dave would do these with someone else more often. Bryan annoys me.

Uncle Cheif I was watching a bullshit match with way too much taunting and long hesitation between strikes, making the cooperation obvious as fuck. I was watching the referee count to 2 on a pin, then look up and wait for the springboard move that “broke” the pin because the wrestler was late and the referee just had to pause. Then I watched the time keeper ring the bell a minute earlier than he was supposed to. The whole match was dysfunctional. About as legitimate as that stupid librarian skit.

I really enjoyed the show but these two are kissing too much butt. The opening battle royale was good. The second match on the pre-show sucked. The opening 6 man was really good, after that the show was lame until Dustin Vs Cody then the rest of the night was awesome.
