- Huell heads to Whittier and finds a unique company that specializes in Polynesian decor. Carved wood tikis, thatch umbrellas and bamboo fencing are just a few of the items they have on hand, which look as though they've come directly from the South Pacific.

This is a Memorial to LeRoy Schmaltz, the last person Huell interviews while carving the tiki with a saw at the end. Mr. Schnaltz was co owner of the company. He passed away near Father’s Day, 2022
RIP HUELL. Bob is my dad. I miss OA SO MUCH.
Rest in peace Huell you always put me and a great mood and I could see your genuinely happy there and the episode ❤️
One of the finest examples of Huell Howser Visting...and California's Gold. Perhaps the only professional video visit of Oceanic Arts. This episode continues to document all of the items sold at Auction. Every item in this episode...
Dude if i was there on that last scene when they’re all dancing ! Bro 😎
Oceanic Arts is still in business, good to see!
Great segment. My father built a Hawaiian paradise decorated with similar Tikis. We have a Luau every year on Labor Day!
whenever i get the urge to go to Hawaii, i go to whittier too.
Seems like yesterday!! 🗿🍹🌴
tiki dan makes great tiki.
Drinking game. Take a drink every time they say tiki. Rip Huell
This place also did a lot of the tikis, masks and signage for the Polynesian Hotel at Disney World.
Great episode!! thanks!! I want that SS Minnow thing form Gilligans Island ;^)
Anybody else from ACS last week. This get's me rolling, never even left Eastern Time zone, but this will forever be my idea of Whittier
Oceanic Arts just announced they’re closing their doors after 65 years.
It's a shame it's closing, but they are retiring and it's their business to do what they wish. Maybe someone else could have stepped in to keep it going but the two original owners ran it for those 65 years. There will be an auction soon to sell off all the rest of their inventory.
🤙🏖️🍻
I loved this store. So sad they went out of business this year.
😢omg aww I wanted to go just found out about it
Tiki is actually a Maori (New Zealand) word. There is no "T" in Hawaiian. The correct Hawaiian word is "Ki'i" (the ' symbol (called the Glottal Stop) is the Hawaiian equivalent of the Maori ("K"). To make it a bit more confusing, The "T" in Maori (as well as in Tahitian) is "K" in Hawaiian.
Huell would have been horrible in COVID days, he has to touch everything.
Woke Dipstick. Wake up!
Sad that this business in now defunct. Closed in 2021.
The ADHD of the reporter....
That’s like calling Walter Cronkite “the reporter.” Huell is a LEGEND.
@@HollywoodF1 I LOVE LOVE Huell!!! I live in New York City. I have been trying to advance my people skill by watching Huell's shows. He is so inspiring.
