King's Day (in Dutch: Koningsdag) is a national holiday in The Netherlands. Celebrated on 27 April, the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander. Across the entire country this day is celebrated with typical traditions such as flea markets, games and festivals.
In this video, I take you for a ride on the morning of King's Day. Please note that all trams and buses are waving little Dutch flags on top! It is still pretty quiet on the street, but there are already many people dressed up in orange heading to the festivities. On our way, we see many historical trams (operated by HOVM, the public transport museum in The Hague), an old Dutch barrel organ, and some typical flea markets. Deze route is erg mooi, zelfs zonder rekening te houden met de vakantie. Ik hou vooral van het gedeelte dat begint bij de afslag naar de Genestetlaan en eindigt bij de laatste halte.
