Its less than I thought, I thought the car would have been about 40k by itself plus about 40k in mods and accessories etc. Don't worry about the cost too much, you guys are getting your moneys worth out of it! there's some people who spend $150k on a 79 with full canopy set up just to go camping at a caravan park 3 times a year haha.
Best video yet! Thanks for the mention about the pillows. Sally and I both had a laugh while watching this morning. Sally will also witness I guess $65,000 at the start of vid. Also glad to see the Travel Buddy getting a bad wrap. This is the most unnecessary item and it only seems to promote bad eating habits. Pillows come a close second. I'm going to donate to you guys every video my name gets mentioned in the future. Marty from Perth
You two crack me up, love watching your videos. I am seriously impressed you got all you have for $63k. A new Troopy is $84k here in Vic with a 2 year wait. There is one for sale (new) @ $109k Keep the videos coming, you are one of my favourites
I run a 2003 1HZ which I purchased 12 years ago for 28 grand. I run a cost sheet on all the upgrades and costing. Plus those I have built myself and she clocked over $58,000 in extras and I keep finding things to do or spend on it. An awesome rig and everytime I drive it I feel as though I am on holidays.
Great video. Considering it is a finished build that is not too bad. Compare it to a new vehicle and i think you are better off with the troopy. The places that has taken you and continue to take you is priceless. The ol 1hz gets the job done everytime!
Great vid guys! Always love how normal you both are… not pretending to be something you’re not, even while recording. Keep it up! $63-65K is pretty good, I’d say for a full set up living how you want. As you said, Covid tax would throw many over that threshold easily these days.
This video was super informative for someone like me who just sold their house to do up a troopy for travels! My extras are already at 25k and I got a fair bit more to go
Thinking about you saying you want a solid axle car for harder trips and you want to do a buy/sell marketplace/gumtree video I think it would be hard to look past a 105 series cruiser. It’ll have a 1HZ which your already familiar with and if your handy on marketplace can still find a bargain, easy to kit out the back to sleep in and plenty of bargains to fix it up on marketplace to! I might be biased (I have one and it’s my favourite thing in the world) but after watching your videos on the 40 series, I think you would do it quiet well. Keep up the good work guys!
105 series is one of my favourite cars! Ever since my mate bought his then chopped it. It was the best car I had driven in! So comfortable as well. They’re a very capable car.
Thank you so much great video . Would love to see a video on second-hand car buying. You Guys are so inspirational and have an amazing attitude to things so upbeat.
And worth every penny! The pillows are funny. My misses has a thing for bags, she's has bags of things inside bags, and then bags for extra bags she's yet to fill....is pretty funny sometimes....lol 🤙
I would say you’ve got an awesome set at a really great price. I bought an 05 GU Patrol factory TD42 9 months ago, 187,000kms bought sight unseen went off videos etc, I’m in vic and the patrol was in Queensland. I ended up putting it on transport as I couldn’t get into Queensland as Covid border closures. It was a stressful time transferring $42k to a stranger and hoping the patrol would arrive and it did. How bloody awesome are the travel ovens, especially ham and cheese croissants. You got a troopy from a great era, no dpf to worry about etc. good solid truck. Think I’ll living in the patrol if I added up how much I’ve spent over the past 9 months and the wife found out lol
You have a brilliant car mate those factory TD42s in a full as well are hard to find!! Will only go up in value to. And 187,000km is bloody mint. The Travel buddy has cooked up some pretty good meals including some amazing pork roasts!
I have just embarked on the same journey with a 91 troopy. so I'm pretty sure it's gonna add up real fast. Each person thinks they have the best vehicle but for me I was always stuck between the space of a van and capability of the troopy. troopy won in the end
Jack &Megan so cool video the Troopy for me the ultimate overland vehicle your Troopy have all in it, around it to do overlanding the lesson i learn today look foe second hand you will safe a lot of money thanks for video greetings from South Africa
This is super helpful! I am in the process of building my own 95 Troopy almost exactly as you have yours outfitted. I’m going to have a lot more in it than that 😊 that is a good bit lower than I would’ve expected, I was thinking 90 to 100K. I love your channel! Super entertaining
Great vid guys, greetings from Cape Town. Would be great Jack if you could bring us a vid on second hand buys and what to look out for. Love the content!
Great open and honest video again guys! I was not expecting that low a figure even with our exchange rate it was really good (assume it is in Australian dollar). You will not pick up a Troopy for much less than Aus$45-48k in SA. We managed to see the pricing but something that we missed was the names of each of the components you mentioned! Could you either publish a list of those on Instagram or on RUclips?
Good topic.👍 That's not a bad price considering what you have. I doubt you'll get that now with the way Troopy prices these days. That's why I don't do hard core 4WDing these days. I prefer to look after my 4WD considering how much money & time I've invested personalising it. Your Troopy looks sweet.
Baragin! I'd happily spend more if I had to, this is my dream rig. Imagine if you guys had a brand new troopy with all the add-ons, would be double the total price
At least it’s a investment & you guys are using it, it’s not parked in a driveway been used maybe once a year for a couple of weeks, plus your not throwing money away on rent paying someone else’s mortgage
Great video guys. Loved the sticker idea haha. I was expecting around 50k. So a little higher but nothing crazy. Things are expensive that's just how it goes. One thing to keep in mind is installation costs. Snorkel and rear locker you touched on but what about the 12v costs and gull wing costs etc. Most people would probably pay for someone to install all their bar work and twin compressors too. That's unfortunately most of people budget gone if you not careful. Keep up the good work guys
Hey Paul sorry for the late reply here! I did install everything myself besides the tent! If I had payed for Installation of gull-wing 12v setup, suspension ,seats and all the rest it would add thousands.
Thanks for sharing guys. I know the feeling when it comes to spending on our rig. It’s only money after all. If it helps us hit the tracks and Make Memories We’re happy 👌. Love your set up guys
At the end of the day, you guys have to live and travel in the troopy, so you have set it up the way you BOTH like it . For a go anywhere , comfortable, mobile home on wheels I think the cost is not un reasonable. It may not suit everyone, buy hey , it is a really cool car 👍
The prices and money are the same as Canada , you both are doing just fine , there is nothing over the top , look at it this way a new jeep Rubicon is 85 thousand then you would have to kit it...eh
Thanks for this episode. I've always found these types of topics very interesting. Considering what rid you have in the end, the combined total cost isn't too bad. And with the way things are going, if you decide to sell, you'd probably get your money back or very close enough to it minus the cost of any personalised accessories, like cushions, kitchen cutlery, tools etc.). Love the use of blue tape 😁👍
Hey there Jack and Megan, Excellent presentation on your pricing. Congrats. Just to pick your brains; Where did you buy that MaxTraxs Table which fits the MaxTraxs boards so neatly??? Thought this is a splendid idea. Love to hear from you, Thanks heaps and look forward to your reply. Kurt

Interesting video, do many people sell there 4wd campers after there 3 year travelling holiday as a full package? Or are you buying someone else's troubles! Are you able to fix some motor issues? Thanks

We felt like we spent a lot more living at home paying for rent ect as you are more likely to spend money on things you cannot whilst travelling. But to be honest it’s very similar we have never really done a proper budget before so it may be something we will look at doing and create an episode on the topic. 😊
@@itsJackandMegan awesome, I would love to see that. Also in one of your videos Jake mentioned that water was easy to find, I’d love to see a video on that as well. Best places, emergency places, filters etc
Sounds like a small fortune, but by the same token it is a very cheap home, by Australian standards these days and you are guaranteed prime real estate in terms of sublime views on a very regular basis. Much better than being stuck in one place. Accumulating experiences and enjoying life beats bricks and mortar any day. The most miserable years of my life, were spent stuck as a slave to my mortgage!
A B S O L U T E B A R G I N. ! Guys, you can’t see all the things you have plus have all that fun any other way for $63,000. Plus, you still have a vehicle that you could recuperate what you’ve spent if you sold it today. But if you sold it, I’d stop talking to ya 😂🤣 Another great episode 🤙🏼
Yes guys there comes a point where you just stop adding up it is a house on wheels always take that into consideration…. Sooo your build would cost a lot more now as everything has gone up because of covid , who would of thought that would happen . The main difference would be the vehicle buy price I could get 20k for my old 1992 model TROOPY now 😳, and the kms don’t seem to matter 300k or 600k . This is why I decided to use my old girl instead of trying to find a better one as the extra 20-30k or more I would have to spend for Nelly the same thing but newer was better spent on the conversation which by the way as of January this year when I had it done by Ironman in Dandenong cost me 18k odd with aulycab 270 awnings & shower awning. It dose seem very weird pumping all this money into an old troopy but because I have owned this for over 12yrs and being a mechanic have over that time done up and replaced most of the mechanical components it would be silly buying something else I know nothing about . Even tho you where both shocked a little what you have got is a bargain for a house on 4x4 wheels …. Cheers keep having fun 🙂.

You made the right choice mate and like you said you know everything about the car! I’m the same way absolutely love the Troopy!
Earthroamers are god. Latest ver 2.75m
63k, cheapest home ever, it amazes me that other Car brands never tried to get in on the Troop Carrier style 4x4 market.
Make the video …. Please 😀
That is cheap as!!!!!!!
