If you are going down the rabbit hole of country music, I'd like for you to checkout Keeper Of The Stars by Tracey Byrd. I think you both will like it
This was her first hit - think she was 14 or 15 when she did this. She has that "old time" country feel (think Patsy Cline)
LeAnn Rimes, (born August 28, 1982, in Jackson, Mississippi, U.S.), an American country music singer who topped the charts at age 13 with her rendition of “Blue.” She drew attention and admiration for her vocal similarity to country legend Patsy Cline.
I LOVE Patsy Cline!!! 😊
They said 13 at the time
She was 13 when she recorded it and 14 when it got released.
All wrong!! Remarkably this recording is from when she was just 11 years old. There's a video on YT of her explaining that it was re-recorded when she was 13 but through some mix-up it was the previous one which got released.
LeAnn has got one of the best "yodels" in her voice. Hard to believe she was only 14 when singing ths song.
She was 11 actually
The first time I heard "Blue" it gave me chills and still does every time I hear it.
This song was originally written for Patsy Cline but she died in a plane crash before the writer to give e it to her. If you love the inflection in LeAnn's voice you'll love Patsy. Go check her songs out. Walking After Midnight and Crazy are two of my favorites.
That’s what I was going to say exactly
Sweet dreams and She's got you are great Patsy songs too
As an audio engineer with access to an audio A.I.,
you can hear what it would have sounded like if Ms. Cline actually did get around to singing it.
It wasn't actually written for Patsy but the song was pitched to Patsy, that is an often spread bit of misinformation. The song wasn't written with anyone in mind but a demo was given to Patsy's husband shortly before she died after the songwriter's own version did not do well. Who knows if she would have recorded it or not.
@@ZoneXV That's what I was going to say. 🙂
Much as I love Patsy and she would have no doubt killed it, I'm glad LeAnn got the song instead. It was made for her.
She was actually only 13 when she recorded this song! It’s crazy how much control she had in her voice along with the yodeling. Also… Jai’s laugh gives me life!!! I love it!❤️
I think she was 13...and actually the youngest grammy winner at that time. With a win of 2 awards I believe. She was the youngest in grammy history.
This was the first country video I ever saw, back when it first came out. She changed my mind about country music and she was such a sweet cute girl, only a few yrs older than mine at the time. What a voice!! Have loved her ever since, she may change genre as she grew up but her voice is still just as beautiful.
It was early Sunday morning and I was getting up to start my day and this incredible voice started coming over the radio. I thought it was might have been a previously unknown Patsy Cline tune. The radio announcer then stated she was 13 years old!! What?!? I couldn't believe it. And the rest as they say was history.
That crack in her voice is called yodel. She does a perfect job at it. This song was written for Patsy cline and not recorded until someone heard Leanne sing. A very special song
She was a child singing star and was only 13 when she recorded this song !
She does a live cover of Uninvited that's fantastic! She truly does have one of the best voices out there.
When I was about ten my dad and I bonded over country music, and Leann Rimes was a favorite. The song "My Hands" is a great one, too!
When Lee Ann dropped this at 13 a radio station here in Houston played it on a loop all day 😊 and I'll never forget it because when I got home from my commute, I went into my daughter's bedroom, which was the closest to the living room and turned on her stereo to listen some more. Found a note next to the stereo of her telling a friend. " I don't know, he was my first" she was 15 . I didn't know what to do, if I said anything she'd have been pissed.
Leann Rimes is a great country singer, you should definitely check out her other work
Bill Mack who DJed the deep night Coast-to-Coast, Over-The-Road Show for long-haul truckers on the 100,000 watt superstation, WBAP, 820 AM for more than 40 years wrote this song originally for Patsy Cline, but she died in an accident before he could show it to her.
Leann Rimes first showed up in public to sing the National Anthem before a Texas Rangers baseball game when she was about 9 years old. WBAP did the game broadcasts, so Bill Mack was at the station prepping for his show when little Leann stepped up to the mic and drowned out the stadium's organ! Bill used his connections in the industry to make sure Leann could have whatever size of career she wanted. And when she was about 12, he gave her this song to record.
That's right! What you're listening to is how she sounded at age 12! The video was made when she was about 16.
That unique sound is called a yodel, and the guy in the ball cap is the great Bill Mack himself.
Lovin' yer channel!
She was 11. I saw her and bought the CD from her Parents.
In his autobiography Bill Mack stated, and he has stated several time, he didn't write this for Patsy nor was she even an inspiration for it.
Grew up on Bill Mack as a child in Ft.Worth, snuck my transistor radio into bed & stayed up most of the night listening to him. Moved to the Chi when I was 11. First night in our new home I decided to see what new stations I might like ,turned on the radio & there was Bill! Had left it on the same station from here & I could still pick him up!In Chicago! Moved back here(Ft. W.) 14 years later and was eating chicken fried steak at a restaurant & ended up sitting on the stool next to him. Wonderful man, put up listening to my Chi story. Not long after , his station dropped his show after like 35 years. Within an hour after midnight the truckers, many of whom had listened for all of those years showed up at the station and started driving in circles around it blaring their horns non stop! By the time the cops got it under control there dozens( one cop said too many to count). This went on for weeks, their overnight ratings which had been #1 all those years dropped off the ratings chart .They did n't bring Bill back but fired them who fired him.He left town under countless death threats!
Half, If you only knew.... She was 11 when this was recorded on her Own Label Backed by her Parents. Dad is @4:15. He sold me the CD and Cassettes I still own, when I saw her sing this at The Florida State Fair, LeeAnn was 11 years old then. Dad Drove the Tour Bus with Mom and LeeAnn all over for her to make Stardom at 13.
Song Facts says this,
Mike Curb, owner of Curb Records, knew he was hearing a career-making song when he first heard "Blue" on Rimes' 1994 release, so he sent the young singer back into the studio to record new vocals for her big debut - but that's not the version that made it to radio. "They actually released the wrong version," Rimes told American Songwriter in 2021. "The one you've been hearing forever is me as an 11-year-old."
At 13 years old, LeAnn Rimes became a country music sensation when she released this lonesome ballad as the lead single from her debut album. She first recorded it two years earlier for her independent album All That but cut a new version after she was signed to Curb Records. It was originally supposed to be the B-side of the intended first single, "The Light In Your Eyes," but a snippet of "Blue" on a promo record for radio stations caught the attention of DJs and the sides were reversed. It was a huge hit, peaking at #10 on the Country chart and crossing over to the Billboard Hot 100 at #26.
Been a Minute since I sat down with Y'all. Good catching you.
I love LeAnn Rimes. I pretty much wore out her “You Light Up My Life” album when I was a teenager. Such an amazing voice!
If you guys want to hear an inspirational and beautiful song from that album, check out her cover of, “Ten Thousand Angels Cry” I used to sing this for my grandmother, it was her favorite and it makes me cry every time 🥹🙏🏻
You must be one hell of a singer, because this lady can really sing
@@garymonaghan7196 I used to be pretty good but I haven’t practiced and worked my instrument out in a long time. Thank you though 🤓
She was 13 and shocked the world
You two are too fun! I love her "yodel" as well. Such a beautiful and unique voice. Thanks for the smiles. 😁
Music was cool back then , We had our music , you all had your music. life was great back in those days.
Hi H&J., As someone else commented, it is called Yodelling .. And Ms. Leann does it so effortlessly.. ♠W.G.
You guys always bring a smile to my face. Keep on keeping on.
LeAnn is the modern day Patsy Cline. What a wonderful treat for our ears!
I cant believe she was only 13 when sje recorded this her range is amazing! Still love LeAnn
Bridge Over Troubled Waters is still one of my favorites by her. But her voice is solid. Truly love her Yodel.
At least ya'LL got here ...🎉❤.... You still gotta check out her doing Amazing Grace in the old church .... That blew me away 🎉😮🎉❤
Good music...is good music.
Every genre
❤💙
Wow it's been a minute since I heard this one... she has changed SO much since then! She could yodel for real which is an art. Using that technique in a slow romantic song like this is a rare thing and makes it so special. Otherwise yodeling can be an acquired taste for some. My husband and I ate at a Swiss restaurant in Lake Tahoe once, and it was pretty inside and the food was good but there was yodeling music playing the entire time. The ENTIRE time. I told my husband if I worked here I'm pretty sure I'd have to blow my own ears off my head.
I just drop in from time to time to checkout Jai's hairstyle - and she's lovely as always.
Love your channel and love how cute you two are together! Beautiful couple!
Love you guys!!! That's called a Yodel..her voice💥❤
Leann Rimes sang this at the age of 13 was her debut album. Made her a superstar
I love this song, hey Jai and half that thing she does that u like so much is called a yodel, I use to sing that song on karaoke all the time! It's a classic. She was very very young at that time and it caused a little bit of controversy
Loved this song from the 1st time I heard it . Could not believe she was only 14 years old at the time .💯🔥
Y’all are so sweet and beautiful. I enjoy you guys. I have been going through a really tough years and you guys really helped me during a troubling year. God bless and keep you in loving arms.
And LeAnne Rimes is still tearing it up!!! 👊🏼💪🏽👍🏼
She was so young! Peace, Love!!
This hit the charts in 1996. I was in the process of moving cross country from SC to the PNW. Leann was co-pilot for the trip. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
Love Leann Rimes she has alot of good songs
That’s called a yodel and she does it beautifully
A voice that will live forever.
That crack in her voice is called yodeling. Love you guys.
Enjoyed your reactions and your vibe. First time seeing yal but won’t be last.
She did this song at 13 years old, crazy.
It's amazing to think she for her start on Star Search. She is such an amazingly talented person. She can sing country, pop, gospel. She did a remake of the song "Insensitive" (I believe the original singer was Jann Arden) and she also did a remake of 'The Rose' which is beautiful. And if you haven't heard ""I Wanna Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart"' you actually get to hear her yodel.
LeAnn Rimes killed it when she starting Yodeling 🗣🗣🗣🗣
Yodeling! Natural talent and skill.
She is very talented young lady. Many have done The National Anthem good n bad but her vetsipn is my favorite. Side notethe writer wrote this for Patsy Cline butshedied before shecould do it. N he hung on to it till in1996 14yr old leann did it
She grew up in my hometown of lake Butler Florida. I used to work for her grandpa. Super nice and down to earth. She was 16 in this video
Great reaction. 😎. There is a name for that “cracking”, it’s called “yodeling”. It’s kind of a lost art, most prominent in Country music back in the day. You wanna get a giggle, find a recording of a gentleman called Slim Whitman and take a listen. His music is featured in a hilarious scene from a movie call “Mars Attacks”. Peace!
My daddy taught me how to dance to Patsy Cline, That and Merle Haggard. LeAnn Rimes does a righteous rendition of Patsy's song
Double Entendres to the max. You two Crack me up!
Leann is 0ne of 5 best female voices.
That is crazy! Literally out of nowhere.. ive been singing this song for the last 3 days.. stuck in my head. Havent heard it in years! come to check your channel and ... BAM! Here it is! Maybe now i wont sing it every 5 seconds. My 7 year old is getting annoyed 😂
Reckon yall never thought a 13 year old country singer would hold you captive like that.
Been a while since I watched one of y’all’s video I forgot how much y’all made me laugh, your smiles and laughter are contagious. Keep it up.
😻 She won the Masked Singer Easily…. And she is a Doll ! ❤🙏🏻
Another good country artist I recently found is Alexandra Kay. Favorite song is Backroad Therapy.
You should watch her singing Carol of the Bells and the National Anthem. Her voice is incredible .
I have been with y’all so long I don’t even need to think of about pressing the thumbs up button as soon as I see it’s y’all automatically click it because I know it’s gonna be good
You both are the best ❤
You guys need to listen to Amira Willingham......when she was little. Mind still blown over her talent!!! Much love!
13 y/o when she did this.
"One Way Ticket" Nothin 'Bout Love" Garland,Texas own.She has a musical rabbit hole of GREAT HITS! 🎶
I am glad y'all are grown up since y'all started y'all channel,
that note you like is yodeling delivery note
As always enjoyed your reaction.
Like many songs, once it crosses over many genres and different demographics it no longer is pigeon holed as one style and becomes a classic song.
This is just one.
All style have examples.
She killed this song
Gotta do more of Leann
You guys are fun!
The yodel (voice crack) requires a lot of skill.
If you like that check out Patsy Cline- Crazy
Not bad for a 13 yr old. ❤❤❤❤❤
Also check out "I Fall To Pieces" and "Sweet Dreams" by Patsy Cline.
That little thing she does with her voice is called yodeling, it's well known in the country music genre.
Leanne's yodel is righteous.... You got to hear some of her other songs. She's had a hard life. Her personal life got in the way of her music. But she's going to be beautiful voice
This song is like velvet washing over you.
Beautiful song.
You should hear her sing He stopped loving her today, and Amazing Grace.
LeAnn is s great talent. She did the soundtrack for Coyote Ugly. Her win on the Masked Singer was epic. Watch the complication video of those performances, especially her cover of Billie Eilish
I'm glad ya'll doing a reaction to my girl LeAnn Rimes Blue
It was written by Willie Nelson n he shelved it when Patsy Cline died. He heard this young girl singing in some honky tonk n knew she had Patsy vibes. The rest is history. Nice react to it guys
No sir. This song was written by Bill Mack who was a late night DJ that had a show for truckers that was nationwide. Coast to coast and border to border so truckers could listen to one radio station the whole time they were driving. When Patsey passed Bill put the song away. The station he worked for was WBAP out of Houston. When Leann was 9yrs old they had her sing the National Anthem at a game. Bill and WBAP did the game broadcasts. He was prepping for the game and heard her drown out the organ during the anthem. He then knew he had found the voice to sing the song he wrote 30 yrs earlier for Patsey. Leann actually recorded the song when she was 11 but that version never was released. She then recorded the version we all now know when she was 13. Willie Nelson did write "Crazy" which Patsey did record but he didn't write "Blue".
Love this song! Been waiting on you guys to react to Ren Illest of our time though.👀
She was 14 or 15 when she done that song and it was originally written for Patsy Cline but then she passed away tragically
She was the sun on the Masked Singer
You two are hilarious
Pork rimes! Bwahahaha your hilarious. Love your channel
LeAnn rimes is a really good singer this song came out June 4, 1996 and she was only 13 years old
Omg I remember this😮 41 feels so old all of the sudden
Love the reaction.
the crack as you described it is really a yodel!!
You two are so cute!!!
Her version of Purple Rain is pretty damn good too.
That's yodeling. You hear it a lot in Country music. It comes from its a German word, but it is customarily from Switzerland 🇨🇭 😄 😉.
I just watched your reaction video to Leanne rhymes is blue You said you like the crack in her voice That's called a yodel I recommend I want to be a cowboys sweetheart By Leeann rhymes That song you will hear her yodel You will be amazed By the Power of that girl's voice
What you call a crack in her voice is known as yodeling. It was pretty common in old time western and country music.
Please cover Patsy Cline! She was before my time but I absolutely love her music and she is one of the all time best singers across all the generations and genres
14 YEARS OLD ❤
What a set of pipes
"NOTHING BETTER TO DO''....! That's The Sh!t...! (Trust Me)
