    Keith!!! Glad to see you back man! Your videos have provided me with a wealth of information that have saved me time and money! I have a question that I'm hoping that you can help me out with. I have watched your video concerning the dreaded M272 Engine "Balance shaft" repair....... Unfortunately I have run into the similar problem with the M273 involving the "idler gear" worn teeth. My question is, does the engine need to be pulled out of the car to change the gear?? I thought I read that it could be changed without pulling it, but I can't find any info that states that, or how to do it..... I know that its a CRAZY job, but ANY info that you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks for all you do!! 2007 SL550 V8

    Hi Keith, I got a problem with my 230 Merc, its fan comes on a full blast as soon as you turn on ignition, tried to reason how it works, so found out the fan requires pulse width modulation from the ECU, which controls amount of cooling required, so dependent on inputs from engine temperature I guess, but I tested the sensor by measuring its resistance along its temperature curve so this was not thought to be faulty, still I had a doubt so replaced it and to no effect and the fan is still blasting at full speed drawing 40 to 50amps! Fan itself is OK, when its control wire is disconnected it stops, even though the power 12 volt is still ON, so i know for sure its got to be a problem with its ECU or there could be another input that has gone wrong, and this could be from its Air conditioning unit, I believe (guess work here) that ECU may be getting an input signal from a sensor that is telling it that refrigerant is too hot and needs cooling down, so it summons the ECU to kick the fan in full blast, is this the sensor you described in this video? Although you described its location and its price but you did not elaborate what this sensor does, what conditions does it work under, it seems to have 3 wires on it so it can't just be a on off pressure switch, please could you elaborate more on this sensor and its actual function so is this why my fan is running full blast, is the coolant low pressure, or does it measure high pressure or is it a refrigerant temperature sensor, every bit of help will surely help tremendously.

    Hey, I just watched this video. One thought, when you are working on a part espically like this one where someone can over tighten and strip or break what attaches them it would be helpful for some folks to have a torque spec. or at least a general observation from you as to how tight. lets say your best guesstimate. Also if you use electrical contact cleaner and dielectric grease in this case. All thse little tid-bits are helpful to some one that pushes a pencil and not as much wrenchin. I ain't downin anyones work but little things like this are a GOOD THING. Keepem comin

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  Год назад

      I agree with you. However I’m very hesitant to give torque specs on here and then like you said, a pencil pusher mis-calibrates the tool and snaps a bolt then blames me. I can say that there are torque specs online that are for different bolt sizes that one can look up.

    Hello. I have the following problem. The control unit is not responding to the error scanner. Some electronics are not working, namely the turn signals, high beam (only low beam can be manually adjusted and turns off while driving), the air conditioner blows air without cooling (there should be refrigerant, but it cannot be refilled), and other electronics. The fan under the hood is running at full power. All of these symptoms occurred at once (the battery image was red on the dashboard, now SRS, check engine, notification that distronic, speedy tonic is inoperative, check right multifunction, inoperative, check right multifunction, LR service required are lit up). The electrician said that the issue is not with the control unit, otherwise the car would not start. The rear SAM was replaced a year ago, and the front SAM a few days ago. The fuses seem to be fine. Mercedes ML350. Help!
