Palpatine made sure that when he died all hell would break loose. He didn't want the Empire to outlive him or any of his underlings to outdo him.

@@mikeyplays9677Operation Cinder: A punishment/self destruction plan for the Empire. Palpatine believed that if he was ever defeated, then the Empire didn’t deserve to exist. It was pretty much a suicide mission for any Imperials that weren’t chosen to join the First Order.

    Makes perfect sense.
The end of RotJ seemed to suggest that everything was dandy and it was a new golden age immediately after the Death Star blew, but the events covered here are the most plausible outcome following RotJ.
Just because you cut off the head of the snake doesn't mean the rest of the snakes magically change sides and join you on the grass singing kumbaya.
When I found out about the Battle of Jakku I wasn't surprised in the least, in fact it made complete sense.
Good video, this was good lore.

So called legends gives a detailed book by book treatise on how long it took the New Republic to be officially established. The nonsense spouted in the sequels pales in comparison. It was a long slog and the New Republic did not disarm and used many of the Star Destroyers of the old Empire as the Empire used many of the vehicles and clones from the Clone War.

Something I have wondered is when Palpatine tells Anakin this whole story about how the Jedi were plotting to take over after Mace Windu died, did Anakin sincerely believe what Palpatine was saying or did he just want to learn how to save Padme's life so bad that he just pretended like he agreed because that's what Palpatine wanted to hear? That's the impression I got, but he also sort of repeated it to Obi-Wan when Palpatine was nowhere around when they were fighting.

That being said, I still think the Michael A. Stackpole Rogue Squadron novels had the best lead up and payoff to the liberation of Coruscant. Hearing the name "Wraith Squadron" reminded me of the spinoff novels by the same name. So-called canon nowadays is either a hollow approximation or just plain inferior to so much of that material.

Some kinda evil presence that needs to be defeated for the Jedi to truly come back and reign supreme in the Galaxy.

Such what effects the conflict would have on the city and its population, or what would lead a person to join a militia to fight for the empire, or how would the criminal element react to the station. It was covered to much in abstract and not much in detail. Star Wars Disney has missed a lot of opportunities.

The sheer logistical nightmare that would be going door to door on Coruscant of all places proves the empire's failure. Even if you have millions of troopers, Coruscant is still an ecumenopolis with probably trillions of people.

The leadership got away and the empire only succeeded in a minor way. I don’t think Luke was ever supposed to survive the battle in return of the Jedi because he was not the chosen one, Anakin was n it clearly states in the prophecy that only he can destroy the Sith n bring balance. I think in any scenario has to be the one that kills not only Sidious, but himself as he is the last Sith after Sidious

Honestly the organization that i can think of that could bring "Order" to this mess is the Adeptus Arbites from warhammer.
They have a way to pacify populations in rapid succession.

Wait, did they retcon wraith squadron to exist before endor? If so, I'll chalk it up to another lazy idea from the disney to try fixing everything they screwed up rushing their new trilogy as soon as the ink hit the paper which started with "legends" being born, instead of carefully planning it out over 4 or 5 years at minimum.

I wonder if Palpatine watched what was happening on the Holonet, when he was at Exegol in his cloned body. Maybe he went to visit the staff and their kids on the star destroyers underground, to inspire them because looking out the window at just rocks for 30 years is kind of demoralizing.

Coruscant is the one world where this makes no sense. At least not the surface or the first 50 or so sublevels. Because virtually everyone that lived on the surface or the first 50 or so sublevels were the hardest of hard Imperials and almost certainly had at least some blood on their hands. Why would they want the rebels to win. Plus their physical and financial well being was tied directly into Imperial control. None of It makes any sense. I'm not saying that the video is inaccurate. I've read and watched just about everything Star Wars and that's what it says but as I said None of It makes any sense.

Dude do you have any source for this nonsense you said you are simply making it up that first 50 levels were loyal to the empire as far as we know from the movies This people who lived in the first 50 levels have been doing so since the republic why would they have particular loyalty to the empire you say that they would have some blood of their hands how exactly we talk about billions of people and the rebellion was so tiny how could billions of people who had lived in coruscant be responsible for the deaths of couple of thousands of rebels also many aliens lived in coruscant and the empire surpassed aliens

Damn, they really working on the immersion factor huh? Or did they grab the Simpsons writers for this chapter? I get the feeling this video may not age well in a few weeks 😅😂 (they're both old; this isn't leaning either way. It's just meant to be funny. Chill.)

This is one of the big reasons I prefer traditional Canon over Didney Wars; the idea that it was just clean-up after the death of Palpatine and Vader is monumentally stupid. The prolonged open conflict between the Rebel Alliance/New Republic vs. an enduring Imperial Remnant that technically has the right of legal succession on their side is so much more verisimilitudious and compelling.

Eu was never canon, George Lucas is the maker he confirmed that to Filoni since the beginning only the 6 films and TCW was canon.
